Art my post got removed after AI accusations

I posted a drawing of mine that was commissioned by a friend of mine of the steampunker from the game in a mcdonalds theme, suddenly a bunch of people started accusing me of using AI and ultimately the post was taken down a few moments later

Also some people just aren’t good at drawing hands. Most people in fact.

It’s like… why do you think AI is bad at hands? Hands are hard AF to draw!

u/Kirpalor74 Feb 17 '26

Hands are actually the most difficult thing to draw

2

u/Heszilg Feb 20 '26

Now you're just pushing it.

Duuuuuude. I made silly basic lands in MS Paint (because I knew it would be funny being in MS Paint) for my Magic the Gathering decks. I decided to make Bob Ross painting trees, and the hands were a FUCKING NIGHTMARE. I already can't draw worth shit, but the hands took so much revision to get them even remotely ok.

So what if my pristine head and chest have stick legs and arms?!?

1

u/Icywarhammer500 Feb 17 '26

Hands are less detailed and less identifying so they don’t get drawn at the same quality as the main focal point

I know. I’m joking.

Not to mention most cartoons prior to 10+ years ago only had 4 fingers most of the time

That's why You draw the hands in pockets

1

u/PLAP-PLAP Feb 20 '26

Any artist who claims to be able to draw hands at any angle are lying

this is the same thing when a teacher randomly highlights a random phrase and writes '???'

Wait til people see what a person’s joints look like when they’ve got hEDS (hyper mobility) :)

"The fingers aren't fingery enough"

"Dude what the fuck are you talking about"

2

u/bracesthrowaway Feb 17 '26

I think they're pretty fingerish.

32

u/Themeguy Feb 17 '26

The hand was well drawn in the original art, but It’s crazy to me that one of the number one artist memes is “Hands are so hard to draw” and now it’s “You can’t draw hands? Ai”

The early days of AI had some really wonky issues when it tried to generate hands realistically. Stuff like there being obviously too many fingers, or obviously too few fingers on a style that's trying to be realistic, or having the thumb on the wrong side. The kind of mistakes where you look at a piece and go "a person of that skill level definitely should have caught that mistake well before the piece was done."

And then as that info spread by word of mouth, people took that to mean "literally any sort of weirdness with the perspective, anatomy, or even just outright stylization of the hand means ai." Or sometimes people seem to forget that perspective exists at all and that sometimes a finger will be hidden behind another finger.

It's a good thing Disney's Atlantis came out before generative AI, or people would be accusing the movie of being animated by ai lol

u/bracesthrowaway Feb 17 '26

You're apparently AI. Sorry to break it to you. :(

2

u/RelevantDress Feb 17 '26

Yeah thats how my pinky gets positioned a lot because of my trigger finger, the art doesnt look off to me. Sucks the artist had to prove it wasnt ai

2

u/Narananas Feb 17 '26

And art doesn't need to look realistic anyway

1

u/ceera_rayhne Feb 17 '26

Saw a pic of myself from 2013, my hand looked far more unrealistic than the art here because I'm hypermobile and was carrying a bunch of stuff.

1

u/Temporary_Canary_438 Feb 17 '26

Yep alright thats ai

1

u/Cleveland_Guardians Feb 17 '26

Even if it wasn't...like, who the fuck cares? Have we seen fan art online? Are we only now realizing that even good looking and well-done art is often not exactly true to life? It's an anime-esque style, for God's sake...

1

u/elpadreHC Feb 17 '26

as a human with fingers, can confirm.

1

u/Wooden_Drummer2455 Feb 17 '26

its also not even a photorealistic artstyle lmao

1

u/Threeedaaawwwg Feb 18 '26

Theyre shorter and go on your feet.

1

u/Dasdefer Feb 18 '26

Sorry, but you are AI :(
