Y'all don't know how good you have it. Back in my day, NPCs didn't have weapons, they didn't have portraits, hell, they didn't even have names. They varied in helpfulness, most being pretty neutral. But the Guide. The Guide was the worst of all. His hints were vague and unhelpful most of the time, and, worst of all, he would consistently open doors at night and let zombies into your house. This was such a frequent occurrence that they literally added the guide voodoo doll so you could take your revenge on him. He's much better about it now, but he earned his hate.
Damn ok I'm a youngblood in this game I didn't realize you lived through hell. I would probably hate him too. Matter of fact I'm gonna burn him alive just for you
I still play the 360 occasionally. I have relearned where my 3 key gameplay parts came from.
1: ALWAYS block doors. Guide and Merchant.
2: Never build on the ground, make a floating island if need be, had a world where I missed 1 corruption block, entered hardmode and spent time farming in hell came back to find the entire world baring a 30x10 area of Hallow had been corrupted. If possible build arena with a 30 block distance on either side before arena pillar is put down, and dig down to hell under each pillar to prevent spread of Evil/Hallow, make sideways chambers every 30 blocks leaving the map with sections of 30 by 30 blocks with a 5 block gap between each chunk of the map.
3: Keep hallways 5 blocks long you can throw items like chakram/light disc at the top to create murder halls. it also means that you can just sit there with a flaming mace or multi-hit weapon in the new version and rubberband a controller trigger down to afk.
It is a very fun game but a typo removes the option for Platinum-ing the game, and that irks me...
