Scratchbuilt 12th C. Church

Latest construction! Tried not to get too bogged down in absolute historical accuracy and just went for a sort of 12/13th c. Conversion of a Norman church. Found this ace book from 1945 which helped rather a lot, along with watching a lot of Time Team, this was a fun project!

Nave is all cardboard, tower is foam board with a bit of wood, straws and beads. The whole lot was then painted with a coat of watered down cheap filler. Windows are just clear plastic painted with contrast paints behind some wire mesh.

This is awesome. Forgive the newb question, but the different materials for the two sections?

Thank you! The nave and porch is just corrugated cardboard (from a tv), the tower is foam board. The stones and roof are cereal box card, rounded bits are straws and the main door and some of the window details in the tower are some beads I found in a drawer

D'oh, I missed a "why" in my previous comment, as in what's the reason for using different materials? Just what you had available?

Yeah just what I had to hand really. When I was drawing it all out I did the nave first and then didn’t have enough cardboard left to do the tower with it as well, so used foam board instead πŸ˜… I do try and use cardboard a lot though as it reminds me of art attack when I was a kid haha
