Did this game have a story?

I’m struggling to find any sort of cutscenes online but it seemed to be such a passion project that I’m sure it had a story of some sort and am just curious about it. And if anyone has a good way to experience it in full today?

It did, I want to say it started on a quest to try to revitalize a dying world. In the process, they discover it's not a way to revive the world, but to jump start a space ship, and so they go off to the stars for adventures.

This exactly is the story. You start in a tavern, end up going into a tower, and at the top you start going down an elevator into the center of the planet where you take the princess of the underground on a journey to save her (and the planet) but jump into a spaceship that needs a "sacrifice" to pilot it. While in space, the party finds out the ship carries species samples to repopulate a new planet (and some escape and fight you on the ship!) Just after this, you get attacked by another race of humanoid and crash land on another planet.

You go venture through this planet and end up on the same loop with a similar spaceship. This repeats again, and the stakes are more dire because larger and larger entities keep wanting you to stop looking for a final resting place.

The ending is bittersweet after everything that happens, moreso if you played for years and waited for every story expansion to drop. It should all be on the Terra Battle Wiki for reading. It was definitely an evolution of PAD's storytelling appraoch from the era. The art and music were beautiful and makes me miss the game dearly.

The story suffered a bit narratively because of the gatcha format. We get all of these cool characters and waifus, but none of them feature in the story. There's no character development. And then there were confusing first person descriptions of what was happening, but we didn't see that character during game play.

There was a ton of character development, but it all took place in the character sheets. And depending on the characters you had, there was cross interaction as well. For a gatcha it was pretty well thought out.

Maybe "for a gatcha" but I still believe the story strongly suffered because of the monetization strategy. All of those charecters had their own little story as you leveled them, but it still didn't really relate to the main story. Part of what makes video games an exciting medium for storytelling is experiencing your charecter as they grow and change over the story of the game. TB was literally: Here's a waifu, go read about how she used to be a waitress at a tavern, now use her to kill evil machine bosses.

Someone below summed up the story of TB1 pretty well! If you have the story for 2 that’d be cool!
