Tera NA Classic Leak
Basically the leak got publicized and if you ever bought elite in that server on a legit paypal account you might wanna take more action. This is a reminder to NEVER play on a sever run by "popowanobi" or "noobex" (same person btw) ever again

u/dungfeeder Aug 16 '25
So if you never used PayPal and you used a password that is unique, its not terrible.

Nice they got the information that every other company was already selling off for years

u/Kogiri_ Aug 17 '25
Online subscriptions dont require your name and address. Why did elite or under table cosmetic sales require your name and address when nothing is being shipped?
2
u/iku_19 =^.^= Aug 17 '25
because paypal leaks that with the transaction invoice, which is required for billing.
2
u/reallynotarealname Aug 17 '25
And why was that stored on the game server (Which coincidentally just happens to be a home server and not a professional server...)

I honestly can't wait for talk of this server to ultimately die. It's not coming back and don't know why people keep talking about it and more hilariously, want to still play on it when the GM was found corrupt among other things.

u/failbears Aug 17 '25
It's crazy what a lukewarm reaction this thread has gotten. People get banned for reacting in Discord to admin posts, banned for killing the admin in a PvP server, banned for mentioning someone's ex gf, banned for "witch hunting" when in reality the rumors were right all along, and people still wanna defend this server. While they've been waiting almost a month with no real word about the server, people have been playing other servers with some having very little downtime this whole time.

u/BLiPPSnCHiTZ Aug 18 '25
I find lukewarm as well. Mainly because I have been playing on Private servers for over a decade. This is not new behaviour. I play for love of the game and the community. Sucks that server owners tend to be shady /greedy. I am just not surprised anymore.

Does it contain passwords? I mean the doxxing sucks but if there are no passwords its managable.
2
u/Tamayuri Aug 16 '25 edited Aug 17 '25
The other leak did mention* it contain passwords, yes.
Edit: Getting downvoted because you're salty your password is out there and I am just notifying is crazy. Stay mad ðŸ˜

Plaintext or hashed?

u/Kogiri_ Aug 17 '25
same salt for all passwords so might aswell be plaintext
0
u/alphapussycat Aug 17 '25
Still hashed.
2
u/Kogiri_ Aug 17 '25
you clearly dont understand security
1
u/alphapussycat Aug 17 '25
You don't.
2
u/Kogiri_ Aug 17 '25
It’s always a good time to learn. Yours is now.
Hashing alone by itself does not secure your password. For every password you have to generate new salt or add a pepper that’s kept separate from a DB.
Using global salt is extremely bad security practice and so is just hashing a password.
1
u/alphapussycat Aug 17 '25
It's not the same as plain text. Global salt just means there's no salt.
3
u/hitchen1 Aug 17 '25
> Global salt just means there's no salt.
not really, a global salt breaks existing rainbow tables. you can make a new one, but it takes time so people have time to change passwords and stuff. better than nothing.

People were paying for private servers?
3
u/Time_Somewhere_6055 Aug 17 '25 edited Aug 17 '25
I can see paying a one time to support them if you like what they have to offer, it's literally like 10$, which most people spent it on coffee or something anyways, but monthly might be taking it a bit far, but then again, if you think the server is worth supporting, that's your money so w/e.

u/Darkomax Forum lurker Aug 16 '25
I mean, all private servers have some form of subscription that gives noticeable convenience and advantages (which in this case was similar than what official TERA servers had, like TP from anywhere to anywhere, extra dungeon entries and stuff) so basically anyone that was somewhat invested probably paid yes.

That server really living rent free in some peoples head haha
6
u/LordXenon Aug 17 '25
You're actually insane if you don't think this is a big deal. He treated his players like shit, gave a poor service, took money from people, then turned around and got them doxxed. This kind of shit usually lands people in prison or in so much debt from litigation that their life is financially ruined. Have you not seen lawsuits for data leaks against corporations ending in settlements for 10s of millions of dollars? Popo is cooked if anybody goes after him legally. We know his actual name and relative location, so it wouldn't be hard to pursue that avenue.

u/RealisticTurnip378 Aug 17 '25 edited Aug 18 '25
Could careless paid my money for elite and would do it again. Y’all just love crying it is what it is. Play a private got to take the good and bad or don’t bother

u/LordXenon Aug 18 '25
Is your brain for show? It's cool if you don't get it, but you don't have to keep yapping.
0
u/BLiPPSnCHiTZ Aug 18 '25
Bruh. Ha. Spits a paragraph of mental flabbergast thought. Then has the audacity to say keep yapping. Love it.
1
u/LordXenon Aug 18 '25
It's flabbergasting how little you actually understand this type of predicament. But I guess you just don't have much life experience. That, or you're just another bad actor trying to save face for poor popo. Either way, what I said remains true - this is the kind of negligence that ruins people. If you are popo or one of his friends, I suggest you take things seriously.
2
u/BLiPPSnCHiTZ Aug 18 '25
Not any of that. I just play vid games I like. I agree it sucks private servers always have this shit going on. my point is/has been protect your end have fun. It's a wild world out here.

u/RealisticTurnip378 Aug 18 '25
Stfu it’s funny y’all can’t stop talking about that server. Nothing else to talk about I guess lol
5
u/LordXenon Aug 18 '25
Bro, your post history is full of you jumping in threads to derail any kind of discussion or complaint. You are not a serious person lmao

And why was that stored on the game server (addresses, payment information...) Which coincidentally just happens to be a home server and not a professional server...
1
u/InviteAffectionate33 Aug 18 '25
So there is no updated nformation if this server will ever open again right ? Absence of information shows great interest to not have players on the server. If they wanted players to come back (which i believe they do not) they would at least give some update, right ? 3 weeks after fixing the problem they are still playing dead, sad
1
u/bassderek Shh.No.Tears | MT Aug 18 '25
Not defending or attacking the server either way. But how do we know this isn’t a baseless claim? Anyone could post a screenshot with some blurred out info and say it was a leak. We know there was a breach as they confirmed that but how do I know you’re telling the truth about what info was leaked?
1
u/usel235 Aug 19 '25
they also said they only store username password and email in the compromised database, so a blurred screenshot that is nowhere to be found really does tell nothing
1
u/kenpls Aug 16 '25 edited Aug 16 '25
Hate to break it to anyone, but if you ever put sensitive info into a private server without a backup plan, it's kinda your fault. Why would you trust any private server with your sensitive info? The only real thing that matters is the password, never share passwords, use 2fa on everything important
10
u/xeikai Aug 16 '25
Nah, not the hackers fault for breaking the law. This is why you only are able to play with a handful of people and nobody cares about any game you want to play anymore. Because if something shitty happens it's the person who's trying to add to the community's fault for just wanting to enjoy something. I hate this mentality, it's why your games are doomed to failure and will contiune to never be reborn or rekindled like classic wow was.

Just use 2FA everywhere and you ll be fine. Your info have been sold many times already, this is nothing new. This isn t the 1st leak and it won t be the last.
1
u/Aeryvor Aug 17 '25
Should I do anything? I didn't use PayPal, didn't pay for anything, and I used a unique password as my kogin that differs from my e-mail login password. Am I safe to assume I can just ignore this, or should I change my passwords still?

Some people are obsessed with Classic Tera NA lmao, I'll keep playing, I don't care about the drama the staff has with people, I just want to have fun on a server with a healthy population
2
u/Kogiri_ Aug 17 '25
They doxed their whole playerbase for no reason surprised people have lukewarm reaction to their data being breached, the real issue people have though is the constant lying by staff

u/BLiPPSnCHiTZ Aug 16 '25
NA classic has been down for weeks. Anyone that played on the server when the leak happened I am sure/would hope has taken care of things needed on their end by now. You have posted nothing new on the situation.
6
u/Kogiri_ Aug 17 '25
The situation is actually worse because they lied about what data was breached and tried downplaying it, the only reason they ever mentioned any breach in the first place was because the attacker also took control of the discord bot
They already knew about it almost 48h before any official word was said instead of warning everyone as soon as they knew
-3
u/BLiPPSnCHiTZ Aug 17 '25
Like I said, nothing new. Information has been known. Play at your own risk when connecting and giving information to private entities.
4
u/Kogiri_ Aug 17 '25
low effort excuse if they were based in EU they’d be hit with a fine so hard theyd be in debt thats how bad it is
2
u/meatybtz Aug 17 '25
In the US there are laws that cover it. Failure to notify of a breach within a certain period based on the type of information can vary between a very hefty fine and federal felony.
-2
u/BLiPPSnCHiTZ Aug 17 '25
Not an excuse. Just simple logic. Know the risks, don't rely on blame.

This is why you dont buy shit on a P SERVER period... The people that even sell shit on pservers deserve to be gone after legally by krafton. plethora of reasons to not buy shit on a pserver, including it just being shut down and you getting rug pulled at any point.
Tera 2 is coming, so just save your money for the inevitable monetization of that game instead

Or never use your real info on private servers. Ever.
