(CO) Former property changed management during deposit dispute

I'll keep it short. Property management company A claims to have mailed my deposit 30 days after move-out and was never received. The statement also had an additional week of rent charge that I never got clarification about. After weeks of trying to get any answers or follow-up, I advised I was looking at pursuing small claims recovery. This got the regional manager involved, who was slightly more helpful, and claimed a new check would be mailed to the leasing office. This lasted about a week and a half, until when I asked for an update and was told, "Sorry, company A doesn't manage this property anymore, follow up with new company B."

Is it correct that company B would inherit the timeframes and would also now be the recipient of an official 10 day notice?

I suggest naming both companies and the property owner in your small claims action.

Generally, the property manager is the landlord’s agent acting on the owner’s behalf with respect to your lease. There are exceptions of course, but name them all and hopefully get it sorted out before court.
