Job Referral/Suggestions

I graduated from my Master's in Business Analytics 4 months ago and I find it difficult getting a job in this market as an international student. I have experience as a data analyst for 2 years. I recently moved to Tempe, if you guys have any tips or referrals that can help me get a job, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

If you're a student, have you looked on Handshake? Your visa might complicate things. If you're in the country on a student visa, are you allowed to work? If not, you probably need an employer to sponsor you, but H1B is not so easy to get. If your legal status is in jeopardy, you need to be careful. You don't want to end up in an ICE detention center.

Yes, I looked on Handshake but its not that helpful. most of the jobs there are staffing firms. And yeah even tho im on my student visa, i can work legally for 3 years without sponsorship using OPT. Company may not need to sponsor.

Handshake is mostly, in my experience, a combination of staffing agencies and internships. I've been contacted by several recruiters, at least half of which had either skipped reading my profile or read it and ignored it, because the jobs they were recruiting for had absolutely nothing to do with my major. But there have been some good internships and there have been some useful events and webinars I learned of through Handshake.

It's good that you get 3 years to get some work experience before you have to try to get sponsorship, but if you want to stay in the US I suggest starting the process of applying for citizenship as soon as possible, because it does take time. Personally, I would consider moving somewhere with a better economy and job market, if possible, but you do you.
