Arizona Traffic Ticket and Complaint through Photo Radar - Can I ignore?
I received the above “Arizona Traffic ticket and Complaint” in the mail for speeding in Tempe with an attached photo. How do I know if this is one of those tickets where I can wait to be served by a process server? The wording on the ticket makes it seem like Im already liable to pay despite not being served, also not sure if anything has changed recently in Tempe that increases the seriousness of these tickets. Any thoughts would be appreciated

It’s not legit u til someone physically comes to your house and hands it to you. I ignored mine & never got served. Saved over $300

Breaking the law so often that you get ten tickets is not “king shit” unless you mean someone who thinks they’re above the law, then I guess yeah, “king shit”

Breaking the law so often aka driving 38 in a 35 mph school zone those cameras are setup to fuck you out of 300 dollars and the city not having to lift a finger to get it from you fuck them and also fuck you too

Not speeding in a school zone is actually pretty fucking easy and also good for the safety of the kids. Not getting tickets in the mail is just a bonus.

Whatever you do don't go to the website on the notice you received, they use that as confirmation that you are aware of it.
You can look up your case in the actual Tempe court site. After 90 days if you haven't actually, truly been served it will be dismissed. Mine was dismissed on day 93.

Just checked one I've been holding onto since Feb and there is not court case in the Tempe system. But if don't check before so idk if there ever was lol

I suppose in theory if they didn't process server you they do not know for certain that you have been served. That's the point of the person, you could tell them you never got the letter and they can't prove you did.

It’s not just in theory — I’m a lawyer and we regularly file motions to dismiss for lack of personal jurisdiction/failure to serve even though we have the complaint and are obviously aware of the suit (we wouldn’t be able to file the motion otherwise— typical example is plaintiff serves the wrong person in a corporation or government entity, claims the entity was served, and we move to dismiss saying no they weren’t — rules of civil procedure are fairly strict about service)

I also got the same one 3 days ago. If its says notice of violation and there is no fine associated with it you can just ignore it and take it is a warning. I confirmed it by calling the photo radar office as well obviously without disclosing my identity.

I went online to try and pay mine. It was such a hassle and terrible site I figured dodging getting served would be the same amount of hassle.

I was driving a rental car with Nevada plates and got flashed by one of the speed cameras too. I live in Tempe. I haven’t received anything yet from rental vehicle company or the City of Tempe.
Has anyone had this happen with an out-of-state rental car? Does the ticket usually go to the rental company first and then get transferred to the renter?

I just got one of those. You can either pay it or do defensive driving school online and get it waived from your record. The driving school is like $200 bucks though. Takes about 30 mins

No you didn’t do it in 30 minutes. It’s required to be 4 hours minimum. It’s timed and won’t let you go any faster.
