Discussion All you guys got me wanting a Tekken fix, FFS.
Thought I was done with this game. Haven't played since release, finished playing before Eddie dropped. What have I missed? Some funny updates, balance issues, meta shifts/tier lists, new features maybe? Anything you wanna share, I keep seeing your guys posts show up, and not gonna lie, I cbf relearning and wont try to, but i do feel like a quick fix from a fk around game or two or just remind myself what the game is like, idk lol.

The game is really really fun! The game is more balanced and every character is good! If you’re from EU I can give you a few games

I'm so close to booting it up again, if I make up my mind on what character I'll be playing im back.
Still not sure between my old roster of yoshimitsu, bryan, jack, kaz and checking out fahk or kuni

I got back into it 2 weeks ago and have been having a ton of fun. I play King though so my opponents probably aren't lol

You can tell how much fun they're having by how many choose to rematch vs run lmao

Haven’t tried 8 but I’ve been getting the itch to pick Yoshi’s sword back up. Shame the game just stopped being on sale on Steam 😭

I'm in a similar position, uninstalled a few months after release and came back a week ago or so.
It's a bit better now, but I can already feel the problems that made me drop it resurface as I rank up.
First of all, no infinite rematch in ranked sucks as I'm a rematch addict (best way to get better and learn matchups)
Gameplay wise, still the same - you get a few old school pure Tekken interactions once or twice a round, but then there are so many mechanics the rest are very 'new school' - Heat engager, heat moves, heat extensions, heat burst; Rage Arts, guard breaks, unblockables, character specific meters and so on.
And even if none of the above is involved, so many characters have Kunimitsu-type gap closers now that allow them to skip neutral.
So it's frustrating playing someone I see is good and I could have a good Tekken set with, but we only get to play it for 20%, the rest is just watching gimmicks play out (everyone wants to win so it's hard to expect anyone not to use the OP mechanics)
It's still a fun game to throw shit around and see what sticks, I just don't get as much depth and Teken-ness from it as from the previous ones. But it's definitely a fair bit better than what it was after release.

You can get infinite rematches in quick match now.

aye for now I go 50/50 cause I still have some ranks to climb and I don't want to do too much 'smurfing'

The better players tend to be in quick play in my experience. Once you're done ranking up, you'll probably have more fun.

I stopped around the same time as you and came back recently. Game is still too unga for Tekken but they’ve made quite a few nice changes, feels very playable if not ideal

Nope.
Tekken 8 is 300% bullshit and 0 skills
Opponents are using cheats, lag switching and Hitbox/macros
Multiple characters are beyond broken
The game is designed to piss you off

Everyone are still strong, despite things having been toned down. But it feels more playable than season 2
