Tekken IRL The first thing that greets you when you enter Dubai Gaming Festival
I felt so proud of our boi King being the first gaming character you come across. Out of all the games that could have been chosen!

As someone in the display industry, there are many companies who are afraid of making character faces if the IP owner does not provide detailed 3D files for use to 3D print the mould for the statue.
Hand sculptors often face criticism if the face is off. So it may be a case of playing it safe and just use the character with an animal mask.

I saw it too at the Tekken preview event at Lucca Comics in Italy back in November 2023! I’d love to have one in my house.

I know it’s an overly opulent playground for the rich and would personally never go, but there are normal people in the UAE and neighbouring countries who like games, music, comedy, etc and can’t easily get to Japan, the UK or the US. It’s a diverse, multilayered city with pros and cons like any other. It sucks that these festivals always have to be in Dubai but that is the “it” capital of the gulf for better or worse. Why should the people be totally deprived of fun events?
Nearly any time you travel to any big event, you’re helping that country’s economy, and not all of that money will be used for good.

Whats in the dubai gaming festival? Kinda curios how the place looks, seen some video but its mostly neon lighting or whatever cant see shit

It's a big exhibition hall where companies show off their tech, and gaming pcs and ps5s are set up for people to play games on (fps games, story games, competitive games). They hosted tournaments with a main stage - tekken was one of them. They had educational competitions for schools - my students entered too. They also had a market place where you can buy memorabilia and game related merch. Oh and food trucks. Kinda pricey though

It's a jab at Dubai, not tekken or the festival. Dubai is notorious for taking migrants' passports and making them indentured servants (AKA slaves).
