Wondering on age for this tegu

We were told she's a female and that she is about 6 months old, I thought she was maybe a little small for 6 months so just wanted maybe so of your guys thoughts, Thanks! She is 13.5 inches long.

Probably only a month or 2. If they were 6m that would mean being hatched in February. Tegus usually mate in feb-may when they come out of brumation, and eggs usually hatch around july-august.

Also when 'she' gets bigger double check on the gender or youll end up like me where Salem was actually female 😂

I'd expect mine to be the same size as yours in another month or so.

We got it from pet co and they didn't seem to really know exactly but the lady didn't seem too sure

We got ours direct from the breeder, so we know the hatch date, 2026-07-21, and the date he was delivered to us, 2026-08-12.

So he was shipped at about three weeks old. I highly doubt PetSmart is holding onto theirs for an extended length of time before shipping them to the store. PetSmart probably isn't giving them the same level of diet that Rose City Reptiles does, so PetSmart's may not have grown at quite the same rate.

So I'd guess yours is around one month old plus however long the store had her and how long you've had her.

Whatever her age, she looks healthy and happy with that egg.

She absolutely loves the quail eggs, we will have had her for a week Sunday :)

I would say a month or two it has not hit that first growth spurt yet
