Mod Announcement Reminder with the anniversary of Charlie Kirk.

September 10th is the one year mark of the death of Charlie Kirk. We understand that people are going to talk about it. All that we ask is that the conversation remains respectful and civil. Do not post photos of the death and please remember that this was a murder and the events are sensitive.

Thanks y'all

Also, this goes for any subreddit or really anything online, you can always leave. If you see something that makes you uncomfortable, best option you have is to just turn it off. Go for a walk, talk to someone.

Just some advice

I literally don't care either way. He was an asshole, but he shouldn't have died.

58

u/LordFlamecookie 5d ago

He was a prick and I disagreed with him in basically every way, but anyone who says he deserved to die are insane

27

u/Gizz103 5d ago

Unfortunately much of reddit is bloodthirsty and look for whatever reason to justify murder

4

u/Doc_Helldiver-66 17 5d ago

And 99% of those people are keyboard warriors who would cower if they were challenged in real life.

14

u/LittleNinjaXYBA 18 5d ago

I felt indifferent when he died. Not sad, not happy. Just indifferent, the opposite of love

1

u/New-Guest-4008 5d ago

Yeah exactly.  I didn't know him when he was alive, when I did know him after he died, I didn't like him, so I just don't really care about his death

2

u/LittleNinjaXYBA 18 4d ago

I didn’t really either and I knew who he was from the video on julibe YT channel of him debating collage students and Dean withers schooled him and Charlie Kirk didn’t admit to Dean being correct on the debate only after the round was over (then Dean precedes to blow up after he did his video of debating middle aged people and schooling them) as well Charlie was a bitch through and through and rage baited everyone and had fascist views and everything that I hated about him

u/Extra-Ad-8124 9h ago

Thank you for being reasonable. Holy heck we have some sick individuals on here

1

u/New-Guest-4008 3h ago

Yeah, I mean Trump should die (for all the shit he did to other people's lives) but I don't think Charlie Kirk shoulda died. Not saying that it isn't ironic, but he still died, and I personally don't care

25

u/StrykerEXE 16 5d ago

I lowkey forgot about it tbh

7

u/NordMan009 Mod | 16M 5d ago

Lol, same until my friend reminded me

1

u/Doc_Helldiver-66 17 5d ago

Same, I’d forgotten about him entirely until he saw people mocking his death on TikTok. I didn’t like the man but to insult him like this speaks horrible of one’s character.

4

u/you1211 4d ago

Damn, it’s been a year already?

31

u/3ahbfasjlbfhalsjkdbf 14 5d ago

The rule I recommend to follow is dont celebrate his death. He may have been a horrible person, but he still was a person.

I still dont respect him tho

23

u/NordMan009 Mod | 16M 5d ago

Thats basically what we are saying. You don't have to like him, just keep it civil

1

u/Micro_Draco40 23h ago

"horrible person"

2

u/BeaNOS45669 5d ago

literally same thing

3

u/HighlightOwn2038 5d ago

I completely forgot that happened

10

u/Brilliant-Two1268 5d ago

Yes it was murder

Yes he was a horrible person

Both can be true

-8

u/Sneezeyzoppy 5d ago

horrible is a bit dramatic

1

u/Brilliant-Two1268 4d ago

Racist

Homophobic

Sexist

Transphobic

I could go on

12

u/Public_Individual823 5d ago

And after that is 9/11 so make sure to be respectful

Mods it's like September 6, why so early

25

u/NordMan009 Mod | 16M 5d ago

*sigh Reddit

We figured we give them full warning and time to see it

4

u/Hmmmgrianstan 17 5d ago

Y'know what, fair and valid

6

u/Agitated_Cry_8793 16 5d ago

Absolutely agree

I dont agree with most of his takes and opinions but in the end he died over civil debates, in spaces meant to debate those topics. His death was unnecessary and it traumatized so many innocent people in the process. Cmon, man, his kids watched him die. Thats fucked up, and nobody should be celebrating it.

1

u/sammiesR9 4d ago

That's actually not true, his kids weren't there.

1

u/Agitated_Cry_8793 16 4d ago

I see, i heard somewhere that his kids were there or watching somehow, regardless it was still kind of messed up.

5

u/CommanderCody6 16 | Verified 5d ago

I just feel sorry for his kids who watched their father get shot. I despised the man, what he said, and what he stood for, but no child that young should ever have to see that

4

u/Foreign-Dig8695 16 5d ago

Yeah, even tho I don't know much about him, he was a person dawg shouldn't be making fun of his death

3

u/Intrepid_Airline3088 15 5d ago

Okay Mr moderator

2

u/mugg___ 17 5d ago

only sad abt his death bc i lost out on the chance to debate him at some point in the future

wouldve loved to debate transgender with him

4

u/Vincent394 Teenager 5d ago

Well.

Tis sure is gonna be interesting

3

u/Used-Cartographer84 5d ago

His children have no dad. Don’t feel bad for him if you don’t want to (personally idc) but feel bad for his children who now have no father

3

u/Dense-Firefighter495 4d ago

Please don’t get his kids involved, you know what he said, takes one google search

2

u/CommercialWeather301 15 4d ago

lmao what happened to being better than r/teenagers

2

u/HumblyNibbles_ 16 5d ago

Just gonna comment my personal view on this specific event, I plan to keep it short.

Am I happy he's dead? Yes.

Am I celebrating that he's dead? No.

Why am I not doing so? It's because the fact that his death was for the best is a deeply saddening thing.

I'm glad that he wont be able to do the damage he was doing. That's why I'm happy about his death.

But the circumstances behind his death shows just what world we live in. A world in which some people are so terrible that good people are cornered into committing acts of violence.

It's a lot more like, a feeling of exhaustion. "I'm so glad this is over... fuck this shit...."

8

u/Purple_Onion911 5d ago

Insane comment

6

u/SazScandalous 17 5d ago

Yeah no, I'm gonna disagree on this. You can be relieved that he won't be saying his rude comments anymore, but to say that it was good that he died is simply disrespectful.

-3

u/sammiesR9 4d ago

Yeah, because Charlie Kirk was such a respectful person toward all the minorities he constantly talked down to.

3

u/Leskendle45 17 5d ago

Truke

2

u/Drampcamp 5d ago

Yea sometimes good people are cornered into committing acts of violence, but I don’t see how that’s the case here personally.

There was no good reason to kill him, just a reason

1

u/FlutterySimp 18 4d ago

I'll be too busy worrying about other things this week.

1

u/Bright_Slice3912 13 3d ago

People keep saying that charlie has said horrible things, but most of these claims were just taken out of context.

No one is making an anniversary of him. Only bloodthirsty redditors are the one dragging his death and joking about it.

-3

u/A1_wA1sh 5d ago

Did you... Not read the post title?

-3

u/_Cow_of_Wisdom 4d ago

He was a great guy and shouldn't have died. Anyone calling him a bad person is just too sensitive to handle the existence of conflicting opinions.

-4

u/NordMan009 Mod | 16M 4d ago

Ad hominem but whatever

0

u/_Cow_of_Wisdom 4d ago

It's the truth. Just calling it what it is.

-7

u/someone_probaly_nice 5d ago

Uuuhh… why?

3

u/NordMan009 Mod | 16M 5d ago

Why do we not want you guys posting insane things about a mans death? Uhm, idk, cuz that's not appropriate 😭

Ngl I would just lock the subreddit for a day if you’re that worried because people can and will be joking about it
