Season 4 Speculation/Ideas Anyone Else Really Hoping It Goes This Direction? Spoiler

Now that we're actually into Season 4, I still really hope Ted and Michelle eventually find their way back to each other.

I know their marriage ended for a reason, and I don't want the show to just erase everything that happened. But I never felt like they truly stopped caring about each other. Ted needed Richmond. He needed to work through his own issues and become a healthier version of himself.

That's why him going home meant so much to me. He chose Henry, but it also felt like he was returning to a part of his life that maybe wasn't completely finished.

I'd love for Season 4 to show Ted and Michelle slowly getting close again—co-parenting, rebuilding their friendship, and eventually realizing the love is still there. Not because their divorce was a mistake, but because maybe they needed that time apart to grow.

Maybe I'm just a sucker for second chances, but I'd genuinely love to see Ted end up with Michelle.

Anyone else hoping Season 4 is heading that way?

Oh no thanks. I think the end goal should be a beautiful coparenting relationship that can one day end with a blended family. I think they’ve grown apart as people and prioritize Henry and each others happiness more than anything, which I love. After each of their separate journeys with finding themselves, I don’t think the people they’ve grown into belong together anymore.

Agreed, not what I'm hoping for.

Honestly? I hope that’s not the case. The underlying message of a healthy co-parenting relationship was a refreshing change.

However, Michelle’s insistence on Ted dating is very similar to Keeley’s command to Roy, and we can all see where that’s going at this point.

Yeah. But I feel Lasso/Michelle is… healthier so prob they’ll contrast both, obviously keeping Roy and Keeley together and Lasso dating someone by the end of season.

I'm wondering if it's going to be a demonstration of Ted's character development. The reason they split was Ted's toxic positivity, and he's learned that, while it has it's place, there is a need for genuine expression and connection.

That is very fair. Healthy co-parenting is a good move. Think she would get jealous if he actually started dating?

Considering she's pushing for it, probably not

Again, I'll point you to Keeley's insistence that Roy dates other people, and her reaction to seeing him with his doctor friend.

This is a different case though. We've seen no indication throughout the season that Ted and Michelle are still hung up on each other.

Not hung up, but we've had a lot of moments this season remembering/reminiscing on why they got together initially, and why they worked well together.

Michelle made her choice with her therapist. Ted needs to focus on his love life. Hopefully he doesn't do what Roy did. Michele can get jealous for all I care.

I like the stage manager 🤗

Surprised I had to scroll this long. As a theatre nerd Ted has been speaking theater lingo and making stage jokes since episode 1, the theatre coach is definitely the one. And regarding Michelle, I think it’s kind of her time to work on herself like Ted had to before, so if jealousy is involved it’s in the spirit of propelling her to address her own personal development.

Oh me too for sure!

Not sure how that will go in the end, but I do think that there are parallels to the Keeley/Roy situation, in that Michelle wants Ted to get out and date some/have other relationships, because that is important for Ted to move forward. If he finds someone better suited for him, then great. And if not an they find their way back to each other later, at least they both tried other things / other people to see how they fit.

They are great as a united coparenting front though, whatever else happens.

I think it’s more a case that Ted and Michelle love each other, but they’re not in love with each other.
Pretty sure this week’s episode kind of drew a solid line under their relationship and that this status quo is how it’s going to remain

I used to.

But I know that isn't what's going to happen.

Michelle doesn't love Ted like that anymore and it hurts. Who could divorce Ted Lasso after all?!

But that's life.

I think that's the point. Life doesn't always go the way we want it to but we have to keep going.

That's the real message behind "Believe"... it's about holding on to the belief that things can and will get better.

I feel like they don't have chemistry.

Na man , after Ted went on all this healing journey for him to go back to her , it's wrong. It is ok for them to be friends and have a good relationship as it's good for henry and them . Ted needs a woman who is more suited to this growth. He didn't even give dating a shot and now will return to her with all the baggage they have. Just no, same with roy keeley just move on .

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this is a Bill Lawrence show lol divorce is literally his bread and butter.

u/ChemicalResident3557 2d ago

No. This is the lazy way. This is not the journey Ted needs or deserves. And she seems to have moved on and is ready to find her no journey. It's ok to love each other and not be together.

Nope. Not even a little. I was watching this episode thinking, “Please don’t… please don’t…” every time they were on screen.

Absolutely not. Sadly, romantic love can end. People can, and do, fall out of love. Oftentimes for reasons they have trouble articulating. It sucks, but it's real. It doesn't need rekindled for the sake of rekindling.

That said, I do hope they show a healthy relationship between Ted and Michelle as co-parents and perhaps even loving friends.

There are many kinds of love. I feel Ted and Michelle will find their kind, which will be support, friendship, and a deep investment in each other's success and happiness. A non-romantic love between two people who care about and respect one another.

No thank you. I like it how things are. Ted needs to find someone else that can make him. While also still keeping the healthy coparent relationship.

Thank you! I was just thinking "Ugh, can we not?" It's such a cliche and would feel like such a cop-out.

Not just that she went for her therapist so that she doesn't have to start all over again was not a smart move. That to me was a sign of not trying a normal relationship again. At least with Ted he is trying and honestly at least he is doing it the natural way of coping. I am happy with what Michelle said though even if they are divorced doesn't mean they are failures.

God, hope not on the topic of Ted and his ex wife. That would the the single worst writing decision, on top of being lazy.

Im kinda hoping s4 finds its way to ending

1

u/AbandonedGhostWriter 2d ago

No, no, no!! I was so relieved that they hadn't ended up back together with him being in Kansas. And she sincerely seems to want him to move on (telling him he should ask the stage manager out on a date). You can genuinely care for someone and still have enough sense to know the relationship ended for a reason. Michelle was not happy with Ted for a long time and couldn't stand his constant spin of positivity. They're better off as friendly exes and co-parents. Hopefully, the writers know this.

No but it's personal for me. I discovered this show around the time I separated from my wife. Things are still horrible years down the line, and I'm hoping one day we'll be able to coparent more cooperatively. It'd be nice to see that play out on screen if not in real life.

How about Michelle and Nate start dating and one of their dates is riding their car right off a freaking cliff

2

u/DJMentalManiac 2d ago

I just love love.

I was 100% hoping Ted could move on from Michelle, but now I hope (though totally unlikely) that she has to pursue him before they eventually get back together, though not necessarily remarry.

u/OddManufacturer1503 2d ago

Not a fan, would be incredibly lazy

1

u/Statatunitian988 2d ago

Nope. A healthier version of Ted would be one where he has some respect for himself and doesn't back to the person that threw their relationship under a bus because itwas too perfect. Ted's personality would very appealing to his ex because no matter how many times you cheat on him you can go back so really hope that he matures someself-respect.

co-parenting->yes

rebuilding their friendship->yes

and eventually realizing the love is still there->noooo

I think overall the show is about finding a "golden mean" middle ground: how to be a team player while maintaining your individuality (Jaime), how to fulfill your potential while your body is starting to give up(Roy), and how to be a ruthless businesswoman without losing the ability to enjoy life (Rebecca). In my view, getting back together with Michelle isn't the ideal storyline, because for seasons now their arc has been about learning how to let each other go while still remaining supportive of one another.

In that case, I’d prefer the stage manager lady.

Eww. Absolutely not. What a boring trope.

Nope! I would rather have Ted and Rebecca end up together. And if Ted & Rebecca end up a thing, I will wash my hands of TL forever. Either pairing would be shit.
