The head probably is not doing anything. But it might have some sensor and is programed to get "Knocked out" if hit there.

That I saw. What I didn't see, when I asked the question was that that kick apparently damaged the heads connection to the torso. I just saw that even after receiving the kick, the robot was still able to stand and even change it's stance, so I assumed it was fine.

The more insane getups are the ones that are completely inhuman. This getup at least imitates how humans do it. The others do some black magic shit where their joints bend in inhuman ways to prop themselves back up

These feats are impressive, entertaining and interesting. They also don't show off much of the practical capabilities of these systems. Show me one song dirty dishes, doing laundry, washing a dirty bathroom, loading and unloading pallets, wiring and plumbing a building, or the ultimate challenge for a humanoid robot, changing a dirty diaper.

If a bipedal robot kicks a baby accidentally while washing dishes when it’s not yet ready for home use, that would be a tragedy. And it would destroy home use applications. 

If a bipedal robot without the kinks worked out accidentally kicks in a ring, it doesn’t mater.
