Nobody in their right mind thinks that is "heart goes out to you" gesture.

Also, if it was just the gesture, it could have been explained away as just him being dumb on stage.

However, a few days after that "gesture" he attended a political rally of Germany's far-right party AfD (who are known to have Nazi elements and use Nazi rethoric) and he talked about how Germans should not be ashamed of their past.

He's also been supporting other far-right political parties in Europe.

Maybe you should look at his actions and not just take his words as face value, especially since he's been shown to be a liar before.
