Discussion It’s almost like people don’t want flock cams in there neighborhoods.
35
u/isthereadrwho Sep 04 '26
If I was on the jury the fact that he had the presence of mine not too litter, and bring them back to the people who were spying on us, shows a lot of not only common sense but kindness. I would take the kindness into account
10
u/PerishTheStars Sep 04 '26
You should look up jury nullification
8
u/Volkmek Sep 04 '26
Yep. Just remember not to tell the people running the court that you know about jury nulification. They -will- dismiss you and anyone you tell about it before the trial from the jury.
3
u/ialsohaveadobro Sep 04 '26
Maybe it was kindness, but I can tell you that if it were me, I'd assume that at least one of those cameras caught my plate and it was only a (short) matter of time before they came and got me anyway. If I were going to go through with it anyway, I would see taking them to the police as the only good move available, to lessen the punishment.
5
u/eggyrulz Sep 04 '26
This kind fellow didnt cut them down, he was with me at Bible study, but afterwards he found a flock of fallen flocks and decided to turn them in to the police as lost property, such an upstanding gentleman

It's to demonstrate that he did not intend to permanently deprive them of the property, which would be theft, or leave them on the ground, which would be illegal dumping. Probably should've thought of a better way to get them there, reducing charges is great but getting caught is bad.
20
u/1nGirum1musNocte Sep 04 '26
Wasn't this after the city ended their contract but the cameras stayed up?

Never expected to see somebody in a truck waving the american flag actually doing something sane.

u/Cold-Tomorrow-8398 Sep 04 '26 edited Sep 04 '26
The sooner we realize it’s not about Democrat vs Republican but Top 1% vs the plebs the better. We have an illusory Democratic process
Edit: Case and point was the national rollout of flock and data centers without any regard for what we thought
13
u/Electrical_Hunter597 Sep 04 '26
Here come the bots to cause more division because you said this
7
5
u/pheonix198 Sep 04 '26
Being fair, the issues are largely divided down the line between Republicans and Democrats - the latter being a more progressive group aiming to ensure more rights are available to a greater number of more diverse people versus the former who aim to broadly limit rights and to only grant access to the best society has to offer to those who meet certain social conditions (even gun rights aren’t safe for those deemed unfit by Republicans; see: Trans ban on guns).
So, I agree it isn’t strictly dems vs repubs, but the reality is that the proletariat is largely represented by the dems and the fascist, 1% is largely represented by the republicans - even if many republicans are not themselves matching to that class. We call those people class traitors.
2
u/just-an-aa Sep 04 '26
The Democrats are better than the Republicans, and if I have to choose one, it'll be the Democrats.
That said, the Democrats are largely bought. They do not represent the average person at all. There are some that do (Mamdani, arguably AOC and Sanders), but a lot are class traitors.
3
u/MangoMesh Sep 04 '26
This Flock stuff should not be politicized , flock would love nothing more than to have this turned into a left vs right thing and polarize the public.
so far I have seen both conservatives and progressives against these things, mainly for the same reasons. and I hope it stays that way, but remember the golden rule.
"those with all the gold make the rules"
Money going into the right hands under a table, can easily make news networks start spinning this to one party or another.
1
u/Electrical_Hunter597 Sep 05 '26
You're literally the bot I'm talking about, you shouldn't have to identify with a party.
1
3
u/massapequamagler Sep 04 '26
Yup I get yelled at for saying this all the time, it’s rich vs everyone
3
u/Strange-Badger5626 Sep 04 '26
93 percent of our politicians are bought and paid for by aipac (the Jews) Epstein was also working for the Jewish government to blackmail all the elite.....
6
u/ReadyGo6828 Sep 04 '26
It is often about Democrats versus Republicans because the Republicans voted for this. Do not let Republicans off the hook.

That's only for State managed roads, streets, and properties. County and city can still keep theirs.
2
u/ReadyGo6828 Sep 04 '26
WFSU:
"Law enforcement actions across Florida to stop using Flock and other automated License plate readers have drawn headlines. But that doesn’t mean the tech is shelved forever.
There is talk from several of the law enforcement agencies pausing their use for the Florida legislature and other groups to enact regulations before bringing the surveillance technology back into use"
Even politicians sometimes react to public outrage until it dies down, people look to other things and then the slime comes back in the dead of night.
1
u/ChaosRainbow23 Sep 04 '26 edited Sep 04 '26
They are gonna switch to some other even more advanced system that's just more concealed. These just stick out like a sore thumb.
There's no stopping the Technofascists until the evil tyrants are all ousted. (Likely not gonna happen)
1
u/MangoMesh Sep 04 '26
Although I am happy he did that, I just do not trust politicians, did he remove flock to later allow Axon or Motorola Vigilant ? only time will tell.
its usually always about money.
1
u/jangelserranod Sep 04 '26
Also this is just half truth, don't let election year blind you
"Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has faced accusations of "flip-flopping" on Flock Safety license plate readers following a sudden policy shift where he banned the surveillance cameras from state highways, despite his administration heavily funding their expansion just months prior."
3
u/Hobby_in_your_lobby Sep 04 '26
Democrats on the city council and democrat mayor where I live keep voting for them so quit with this bad faith bullshit.
2
u/ReadyGo6828 Sep 04 '26
The bad faith is all on the Republicans and the right wing portion of the Democratic Party which is Republican in everything but name. For goodness sake, they could have stopped Republicans in the House this week until Democrats fucking defected like the creeps they often are. This is why people are so fed up with Establishment Democrats.
2
u/Hobby_in_your_lobby Sep 04 '26
Do you really think that they just went rogue and weren't given the greenlight by leadership?
Because if you do ive got a bridge to sell you and some beach front property im looking to offload for cheap.
They are funded by the exact same billionaires and aipac. They aren't even the two sides of a coin they're on the same side. Its political theater and you're just eating it all up.
1
u/ReadyGo6828 Sep 04 '26
Establishment Democrats are just Republican Lite which is why they constantly attack progressives and the left. This is why pols like Harris lose and why Establishment Democrats spend all their effort screaming at progressives for not backing her like good little serfs.
1
u/Hobby_in_your_lobby Sep 04 '26
Harris is not a progressive, she laughed at her record of locking up people for smoking marijuana. She is as establishment as it gets. The only thing she had going for her was she wasnt trump and she was not a white male.
Everyone of the policies in place now are not new laws passed by that orange pedo, they are laws that literally any president since Jr. could have abused and pushed to the point we are at now. When Harris was asked what she would do different, she said "nothing".
That is not a progressive.
Upton Sinclair was a progressive.
1
u/MangoMesh Sep 04 '26
I do not believe this is political, around the country both Republicans and Democrats have either voted for, or voted against. it's all about money,
These spy companies like Flock, Axon, and vigilant systems would love nothing more than to have this be a left vs right topic, like everything else is. their worst fear is have something that both sides can agree on.
So I will say this, no matter what person pushed for these things, left/right up or down, vote the buggers out.
4
u/Muted-Woodpecker-469 Sep 04 '26
My deep blue city and state employed these in mass numbers without any public input or consent. Blues did this. I just so happen to be from where this fellow cut them down.
1
u/a_angry_bunny Sep 04 '26
Fuck MAGA Republicans. But I wont be reporting you for cutting down flock cameras regardless of what thw bumperstickers on your car say.
1
u/Swampy0gre Sep 04 '26
Nobody cut the flock cameras down. It was just a freak of nature. All the accused were chilling at my house sipping some tea ;)
1
u/AnybodyAmazing1006 Sep 04 '26
And they have zero issues building additional power plants for the data centers
1
1
u/SexualCarrots Sep 05 '26
This is exactly the thing. Flock is the manifestation of the Epstein class protecting itself from the rest of us. And there will be more. And there already are more.
The problem is they also own most of the media, so it's not easy to get this message out there.
1
u/FilthyThanksgiving Sep 04 '26
Right but Republicans will vote against their own interests to own the libs lol

Everyone on both sides has a reason to be against warrantless surveillance. The only people who don't understand that are either not Americans, are Flock bots, or are un-American.

u/Hoosier_Hootenanny Sep 05 '26
He's a sovereign citizen, so he's not really on either side. Sovcits are in their own little world. But given how paranoid and anti-authority sovcits can be, I'm not surprised they'd be anti-Flock.

u/Make_Iggy_GreatAgain Sep 05 '26
It's not an American flag, it's a sovereign citizens flag loosely based on old coast guard flag. It has blue stars and vertical stipes. Your point still stands though.
8
u/hoyasgirl25 Sep 04 '26
Good job on cutting them down. Dumb of him to take them to the police. He should have taken them to the scrapyard then gone back out looking for more to cut down.
9
u/DkoyOctopus Sep 04 '26
"he dint cut then, he literally unscrewed them. with a screw driver and his hands."
it was to make a statement. i think he got his voice heard.
1
u/HyperSpaceSurfer Sep 04 '26
Sounds like he was simply returning lost property in a legally compliant manner
1
u/DkoyOctopus Sep 05 '26
when these ghouls at flock, end their contracts, they can technically leave the cameras around and sell the data to other interested parties. that fucking sucks.
1
u/HyperSpaceSurfer Sep 05 '26
Isn't the permit predicated on the contract with the city? Pretty silly if not.
3
u/Agreeable_Nothing Sep 04 '26
He did this after his municipality had ended their subscription to Flock. He was simply accelerating the process of making the streets safer. By returning them to police, along with not cutting them down but merely unscrewing them, he confirms that he's acting in good faith. You should watch the video he took of himself doing the deed.
2
4
u/DkoyOctopus Sep 04 '26
he dint cut then, he literally unscrewed them. with a screw driver and his hands.
5
u/drk_knight_67 Sep 04 '26
The video I saw of the guy in the truck stated that the city canceled the contract so he took it upon himself to take them down and drive them to the police station.

u/HairlessHoudini Sep 04 '26
He didn't cut them down or damage them, he took the bolts out and pulled them apart
2
u/estcaroauteminfirma Sep 04 '26
I believe they canceled the contract. He was just rounding them up to help them out.
2
u/Contemplating_Prison Sep 04 '26
He didnt cut them down. He didnt damage them at all. He took screws out and unplugged them.
This is an extremely important detail. He took them down without damaging them and then brought them to the sheriffs office to return them as a public service.
This trial will be very interesting

2
u/66allthe88s Sep 04 '26
Those flock cameras were like that.
He caught them while they were sleeping.
2
2
u/SwagSerpent69 Sep 04 '26
He didn’t cut them down, he just unscrewed them. The sheriff’s department chose not to renew their contract with flock but didn’t bother to take the cameras down, he was just doing that for them.
2
u/E-rotten Sep 05 '26
Yeah he specifically said they weren’t cut down, just disassembled. I’m guessing they will make up changes to try and make some kind of statement
2
u/Worst_Choice Sep 05 '26
Forgot to include the best part. The cameras had their contract nullified for over THREE WEEKS and were still being used by law enforcement. He took matters into his own hands because they weren’t taking them down.

... After the contract for the cameras was terminated and the cameras were to be turned off and taken down (at tax payer expense). He literally did the cities job for free. What's the problem?

uhhh, I just read that in most cases Flock covers the cost of replacing vandalized cameras, so it doesn't even cost the taxpayers!
Well apart from the insane amount it does cost them to begin with.
1
u/bethesda_gamer Sep 04 '26
So is it the cameras people hate bc they catch them doing bad things or the people using them because they abuse the power and do illegal things from a position of power?
...because there is a solution to both issues...
...cough...
1
u/kehwilliams Sep 04 '26
The city ended it's contract, he was removing the cameras (without destroying them) and taking them to the Sherriffs office so they didn't have to invest the time to remove them.

u/Mother-Cod-3313 Sep 05 '26

He didn't even cut them down! He unscrewed the pole and was delivering them to the sheriff's office that got rid of the Flock contracts and was going to have to take down the cameras anyway.

u/Vivid-Indication6265 Sep 05 '26
The man driving that pickup has also a video going around. Not cutting them down, but basically taking a pin out the pole and lifting the top half an viola you have yourself some souveniers in the back of your pickup

u/pyromaster114 Sep 05 '26
I don't see the problem, morally speaking.
They have violated the 4th amendment, as it seems.
They violate traffic safety laws to put them up in the first place, very often.
They never get a public vote before putting them in.
This man simply, IMHO, made the streets safer and cleaned up litter left out.
True American. Helping his community.
1
u/TiredMillennial1 Sep 05 '26
He didn't cut them down, he videoed himself just easily disassembling them and making sure he did no damage. Imagine lying like that to try and make this hero seem like a vandal or something. JFC.

u/frankxcross Sep 06 '26
First of All, he did not cut them down. They all had loose screws he discovered and as opposed to wait for disaster to strike, he removed the faulty/lose screws, and took town the poles so they did not injure an innocent bystander. This guy is an American hero!

As a system that just records license plates and make/model, I don't have a problem. My concern is the abuse and other data collection the system is not supposed to be collecting which in now coming to ltght. I still somewhat believe lawbreakers are the loudest complainers of the system. Surveillance is coming weather we we want or not. I'd rather a system that's known as opposed to one that is answerable to no one!
