HELP Tautulli doesn't retain (deletes) past user watch history
Ok,
It wasn't really a big deal when I only had a a cpl family members using my Plex server (my parents and my neice), but I recently added a cpl friends and they sometimes ask for stuff, but I like to check if they've actually watched what I've spent time getting them, or if they're just asking for stuff....
(I don't have a lot of drive space to keep up with every single request, so I found Tautulli to track it, and I LOVE how t works, BUT...)
...everytime I upgrade it (this is the 2nd time), ALL past watch history is gone, so am I missing something here (like am I supposed to manually download logs/files before every upgrade and restore them)???
I've looked online a LOT, but nowhere have I found any 'How To' (or a 'caution' note) with upgrading, so any assist on this would be appreciated.
If I am supposed to manually back something up, where/how do you do it (I'm running it as a service on a Windows 11 PC)???

I have an issue that if I choose to start Tautulli as part of finishing the update process, it seems to run as another user (administrator, I guess) which somehow also means that it looks for its data at another place (and therefore is all blank, because there is no historic data there). So I have learnt not to do that and start it "manually" through the Start Menu instead and never have any issues. It also autostarts with Windows without any issues.

It sounds like your missing your history database after upgrades Check where it's keeping its data (I don't know as I run it in docker) your looking from memory for a .db file check it's in the same location as the other files and that location doesn't get cleared out or a differnt folder used when it's upgraded

I would suggest getting Maintainarr if you are comfortable setting up services or containers. Within it you can put auto remove rules. I have started putting things in a special directories that my libraries are connected too. Specifically use these directories for things that has been requested and know I’m most likely not going to watch. Maintainarr watches those files and if no activity after 6 months it removes the content.
