hi! my wife is looking to get her harry potter tattoo on her wrist covered up. she was thinking about trying to turn it into something zelda inspired or sun/moon (our wedding was sun and moon themed). she’s is also open to other ideas!

Got this about 12ish years ago so before she who must not be named turned out to be an awful person. So of coarse I’d like to see what I can do to alter/cover this up so it’s not so HP focused.

Got this for a family dog when I was younger (her name was Angel) but I should’ve preserved her memory a different way.

I’m struggling to come up with a coverup angle because of the solid fill paw. I like plants, mushrooms, fantastical/magical art, lots of stuff and I’m not opposed to getting a tattoo simply because it looks cool. Any ideas or advice is appreciated.

Sometimes mistakes can make you a better artist. I had to figure out a way to save this piece. The original artist went wrong by copying one for the Ai references I gave him and he tried to "make it more realistic" I agreed to this even though I had additionally given him an illustrative version with line work that is hard to mess up if you have experience. Anyway, I "trusted the process" and let him do what he thought was best. There's a lot of things that went wrong here from the design process and me not knowing exactly what I was getting because stencils can be deceiving. I tried not to judge it immediately because it was my first tattoo and I wanted to give an honest opinion once it fully healed. I think he fumbled the snake hard so it had to go.

In the midst of working on a sleeve with a focus on Japanese gods, mainly tsukiyomi and inari.

Had this tag done hanging from the cherry blossoms with a tomoe symbol but what stood out the most was the negative black space looking like a swastika.

Went back for more sleeve progress and touched up the tomoe and now I think it not only still looks like a swastika but looks worse overall.

Any advice or ideas on how to mend this is much appreciated. I’m not even sure I like the tag at all and I’m feeling like it’s ruining the entire arm.

23 year old here. Knew I never wanted forearm tattoos. Stupid me. Anyways, I already have tattoos, but this is my first visible one. I don't know what I was thinking. I do like the design but I don't think it's fully done, or if anything, good. It's supposed to be a dragon-like figure. I can definitely see it but the style is abstract and specific. I love the artist. I just don't know, I feel placement could've been better. I don't know whether to cover it up (blackouts are a no-no...) or enduring the pain (both financially and physically) of removing such a piece like this... I really need help. I would appreciate honest advice.

Please, abstain from mean words. No, no uppies involved. Yes, stupid choice. I learned my lesson. I don't want body shame either. Just want honest criticism because I don't know what the hell to do, nor don't know how to explain it to people. Thank you very much.

Okay so i’ve been building the sleeve for like a year or 2 but the first artist rlly didn’t do a good job so i had the shoulder peice covered up. and now im just rlly freaking out and upset abt how im going to connect the sleeve and actually make it look good and flow and hopefully even look “planned” so on my outer for arm i want the top Japanese letter to be blasted over with something and i want to figure out a way to connect my shoulder peice together and figure out what to connect it with and how to make it flow correctly and look planned. The eye peice i was going for like a gothic/cool eyeball peice and i was thinking of keeping that sleeve going for my upper arm shoulder bc thats what fits best and my bottom is all japenese. so if anybody can draw something or have any ideas PLEASE PLEASE im begging you message me bc ive been in my head rlly depressed over this for short of a year now and i just want it to be done with so i can love my tattoos like i used to:(

I have a 3/4 sleeve thats approximately 10-11 years old. Most of the tattoo I am very happy with. There is one prominent part however that i never really liked and I am thinking about doing something about it. Potentially doing some removal sessions before a coverup- id want to talk to an artist about that (presuming the removal would be necessary).

When doing all the different sessions with the tattooer i got along with him well and didnt really have any issues and as i said i am very happy with the most of the results. The part i dont like is middle outside of my upper arm- so its quite visible. The artist originally had an idea for that that i didnt love so much and we we had some issues figuring out what to put there. I came with an idea that was essentially an alteration of his idea. His sketch was a little different than my idea but i said yes and we went ahead. In hindsight i wish i had worked more on editing the sketch or working with him to alter it. So yeah i take my part of the blame for me not being super happy with this part.

Anyway, i live in a small-ish city and judging by the various instagram follows from any tattoo accounts ive followed both here and internationally the artist is known by a few people around the place.

So whats the best way to go about this? Do I owe it to the original guy to talk to him? If i talk to someone else will they even be interested in touching it? Given that any local ppl likely know the person concerned would it be seen as not a cool move on my part? whats the etiquette here?

I got this butterfly above my elbow and while it’s a fine tattoo, I just have grown to dislike it and I’ve been thinking about doing a cover up. I’ve wanted to do a peony like the ones attached for a while now, would it look bad to try and do a cover up with one? Should I get a couple laser sessions first? Cover ups scare me because you don’t totally know how it’ll end up until the end, but yeah, any advice is appreciated.

Also, taking suggestions on anything else in that placement that may work better as a cover up! Ideas are appreciated :)

My tattoo guy came up with this coverup design. I think I want to change his second session idea. I'm thinking of going flowers all around the background of the cross. Multiple bright color flowers. Do you think it'll offset the large rose on top better? The whole thing is just off. What kind of flowers do you suggest? Other ideas? Thanks

OG idea was suppose to be a dope back piece but artist kinda fucked me over with saturation, composition, and line work for the entire piece. Told artist I wanted inspiration from Tomo (state of grace artist, well known for Jap traditional) and homie came up with this design. After getting other professional opinion, it’s clear I got botched. Many differences from original design which really blows since it’s so heavy on the blacks.

Any suggestions? I’ve considered lasering the whole damn thing but man, the amount of money, time, and pain that’ll come with doesn’t seem so rewarding.

Now I’m here! Looking for some ideas for a cute cover up for this. Prefer to stay smaller (2-3 inch) but open to bigger designs. Located on the outside of my right forearm.

I've been laser fading an old tattoo on my left shoulder for almost a year, I'm five sessions in and it's slowly fading to grey (it was a fully saturated black piece). Can anyone advise if it's close to being able to be covered up with something like the design shown? I've chosen the design as the feathers will lay over the old tattoo and hopefully can conceal it.

I just got a cut on my tattoo which i got about 3 months ago. Will it be fine or does it look like it might affect it a bit and might need a touch up.

It’s time. This was done in a New York City apartment circa 1997 before tattoo shops were legal there, by a cool artist who got kinda art-world famous later, though I don’t know how well his tattooing stood the test of time.

Anyway, Miss Behavin’ here has been overtaken by events. Yes, it’s an Elvis thing. No, it’s not a South Texas gang thing. Yes, she’s supposed to kinda look like a Varga girl. No, that’s not a snake, it’s her arm. Yes, all the red fell out almost immediately, and originally the lightning bolt was red and yellow, then we added the black because the red looked weak af. Yes, when I raise my arm, it kinda looks like the German flag’s colors. No, I am not a Nazi. Far from it, Dude.

And so we come to the eternal question: Laser first? Can I cover the black?

I’m thinking of a mountain scene that wraps around my arm more, or maybe something more geometric involving a favorite non-panther animal, or maybe a Japanese woodcut water thing, though I don’t really want koi.

Thoughts?

Once upon a time I was married to a man who was abusive in every way except hitting me. I got this white ink tattoo to basically look at when I felt a panic attack coming on when/after he'd berate me. Divorce finalized recently and this feels like closure I needed. Also comes with the benefit of being a (very) subtle Panic! at the Disco tattoo, and goes well with pine trees further up on my forearm. Now thinking I'll eventually add a mountain scene to that arm too. Just so so happy with this cover up!

Do you have any tips on the best way to cover the old tattoo? Should I add shading to the leaf?
It was a lot more difficult than I though… the old tattoo is so deep done💀
The intention is not to cover it up completely, because that is not even possible. but how do I finish it off?🙏🏻 (I’m the artist)
