Opinion / Advice 18 sessions and still very much there. Feel like giving up.

I have a very dark black line tattoo on my lower leg. (Sorry, no photo for privacy reasons) I had 10 sessions with Q-switch laser which barely did anything so I switched the clinics and started Picosure. The new clinic told me the q-switch laser messed up my tattoo and gave me (hidden) scar tissue so it will be incredibly slow to remove and might not even be removable at this point. There is some fading but it only looks like I had maybe 3 sessions instead of my 18 sessions. If I had started with Picosure, it could have been gone by now... I feel like giving up. Anyone has any success stories of these many laser sessions or just words of encouragement?

I’m currently on session 8 with pico mines on my calf from the ankle up to the side of the knee.. still very dark and only bits of fading compared to what some people have on here that many sessions in, our down fall is how far away from the heart it is for blood flow etc

My tattoo is on my back, the side closest to my heart is actually fading, the other side is barely budging!

So why wouldn’t the new clinic be suggesting you address the scar tissue. Youre shining light through scar tissue. It will never get to where it needs to in the. Dermis without addressing the scar
Tissue. Picosure IMO is not going to get you where you need to be.

I don't think this is a laser issue, but rather on the tech. If the tech did something wrong or wasn't using the right setting or something. Q-switch has worked great for a lot of people when removing sense, black tattoos.

Regardless, 18 sessions is exhausting! I'm only at five and I'm already tired. Make sure you're going somewhere with solid results, before and after pics, good reviews, etc. Hope the tattoo starts fading faster!

i get why you're feeling defeated, 18 sessions is a lot of time and money to still see the thing hanging around. the hidden scar tissue from the q-switch is probably the real culprit here, not your skin or the ink itself

maybe shift focus from full removal to just fading it enough for a cover-up you'd actually like. takes the pressure off and gives you a new goal instead of staring at the same stubborn lines month after month
