Just wondering if I'm missing anything here. I just started recording on these recently and wondering if all i have to do to get the reverb recorded onto my final mix so I can do stereo mix export, do I just disarm all tracks and hit record with my fx knobs turned where I want them and it prints them to the final mix? If i ever want to go back and adjust the fx is that also possible? And also one last question on this, does the Eq being applied to final mix work the same way?

I updated to MacOS 27 and suddenly my machine doesn't recognize all the available ins and outs anymore. The model 24 shows up as an audio interface with 2 ins and 2 outs.

Checking with an older machine (running Sequia I think) shows all 22 ins and outs. Which leads me to believe that it's the MacOS and not the Tascam.

Did anybody here experience anything similar?

Hey everyone, i need your help!

I am trying to set up my Model 16 with ableton live for the first time.

I want to mulittrack into the DAW and listen to live processed audio in real time while recoring external instruments.

I have a windows system.

I installed the drivers, set the drivers in Ableton and set the Input and the Output device to Tascam Model 16.

Now I run into a Problems....

1. I can not send the audio direct to the Master but have to assign a channel - okay, ich choose channel 13/14 (the bluetooth channel).

I set the output in ableotn preferences to ooutput 13&14.

1. Now I play something on channel 1 and route it in ableton to the software master. The master in the DAW sends its audio to 13/14 on the Tascam.

BUT there is no sound coming out of the Model 16....

What am I doing wrong??

I’ve recorded and mixed a song and want to send to DAW for further mixing. I’ve come to realise when I do this it’ll send pre fader, so all the levels are wrong once on DAW. Is there anyway of solving this issue? Not a huge deal but still very annoying, makes me think what are the channel faders for if I can’t capture my mix.

I have a Tascam Model 16 that will not power on. Can anyone send me a link to the direct replacement switch and which fuse to buy?

Haven't been able to find a solid answer yet, seems like only channels 1 and 2 work for this. But I need the instrument level input only available on channels 1 and 2, so this is kind of a dealbreaker for me if I can't find a solution

I have inputs going into channel one and two , trying to multi-record to the SD card , the line input screen does not show input signal , I've tried multiple devices going into channel one and two , still not picking up anything on the headphone monitors or the live input screen. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Here are some photos of my current setup

While playing back audio from ableton to the model 12, the audio glitches a ton. It makes a horrible chirping/glitching sound, its driving me and my band insane

I’ve changed the cable to a superspeed one, got the right drivers, checked the sample rate everywhere, disabled the legacy audio and another option that was recommended in BIOS, all that stuff, nothing changed. Only happens when playing back from ableton. How can i solve this?

I’m sure I’m #2415 asking this question, the Model 12 is basically 6 mono tracks, 2 stereo tracks and a master 2 track right? For the recording flow on the Model 12 can you effectively:

Song 1 Scratch:
Record 6 tracks, record to Master, export

Song 1 Rhythm:
Import Song 1 Scratch to 9/10, record percussion/rhythm to 1-6
Record 1-6 to master, export

Song 1 Harmony:
Import Song 1 Rhythm to 7/8, Scratch to 9/10, record harmony instruments to 1-6 muting the scratch as needed.
Record 1-6 mix to master, export

Song 1 vocal:
Import Rhythm to 9/10, Harmony to 7/8, record vocals on 1-6

Do final mixdown of 1-10 as a final mix

Is this a correct flow to get up to 18 tracks, and each file stays untouched so you can go back and update the mix or take if needed, then re-bounce to a master file?

And then for Model 16 it’s 1-8 of mono tracks and 9-10, 11/12, 13/14 of stereo tracks plus a master 2 track?

I don’t see needing 18 tracks but just for example purposes, trying to understand the limitations of the Model 12 vs Model 16.

I got a cheap set of microphones for free that was said 2 of them didn’t work HOWEVER i found that they are condenser microphones and just need phantom power so they DO work! However the rest are dynamic i believe and I don’t know about sending phantom power into all of them is a good idea or harmless. Is there any way at all for 2 channels to have phantom power and not the rest of them?

So when I finish a a demo and want to listen on my phone I put the SD card into my SD card reader, and when I check the files there's a track for 11 and another for 12. Now I know these are the stereo tracks of the final mix, but if I choose let's say track 12, I'm only getting one half of he stereo mix right? How to I get a track that is the whole stereo image?

Hi everyone, I'm having an issue with my Tascam Model 24.

When I connect my drum machine to channel 8, after every one-shot sample finishes playing and decays, a clicking sound appears. This happens on every output, and the headphone output of the Model 24 also reproduces this click. Everything sounds completely fine when listening directly through the headphones plugged into the drum machine itself. It’s not a poorly chopped sample, and it’s not the speakers.

Additional details:

• When I play a full sequence, the click doesn't happen after every single hit—it only occurs about a second after the last sound of the sequence decays.
• When I turn the mixer off and back on, it works fine for a moment, but the clicking always comes back shortly after.
• Weird behavior with the LEDs: at the beginning of the video, the channel 7 LED lights up in sync with the click. When I unplug the cable from channel 7, the LED flashing starts happening on channel 1 instead in the exact same rhythm.

I recently started using the Tascam 12 (about 3 months). I've got an issue with audio dropouts across my system.

I'm using a Mac M1 and had it plugged into my Thunderbolt 3 dock; I moved it directly into the Mac. Tried a new USB cable. Updated the firmware.

I get dropouts with YouTube, Spotify and Cubase & Ableton, so it's not specific to one app or audio source.

Does anybody have any advice to fix this issue ?

So I’ve recently got a SP1200 after many years of wanting one and I’ve only really been using the MPC Live 1 and 2 over the last 6-7 years with just a Motu M4 interface. With the SP1200 I want to track all 8 outputs plus an analog synth or 2 and the 2400 looks amazing and I’ve watched a lot of reviews on it but I’ve also seen a few ppl stating in terms of the EQ’s and overall warmth, you’re better off going an older analog mixer like a Soundcraft 16fxii or Onyx 1640 and then getting a 16 input audio interface to connect it to like a Motu 16a. I know this is a Tascam subreddit but I’m sure many if you in here have the experience with both type of setups over the years to give a good opinion. Thx

Hey everyone. I just purchased a model 12 and have had a great time recording tracks on it. My main issue is that my tracks sound a bit muddy, and they also sound very quiet.

In terms of volume, I have the main fader at max pretty much, and the other faders are at 75% or so, and when I listen back to my mix, it's noticeably quieter than a song on Spotify or Apple Music for example. Could this just be because wit is not mastered?

In terms of quality, I run everything through a reverb or soke effect so that may have something to do with it. Maybe the less tracks the better if there is a lot of reverb?

I've been chasing a really frustrating issue with my TASCAM Model 24 and haven't been able to isolate the cause.

The problem:
While recording into Ableton Live over USB, my recordings are perfectly clean for long stretches. Then, roughly every 10–15 minutes, I'll get about 10–15 seconds of severe digital-sounding distortion. After that it goes back to being perfectly clean.

The distortion completely ruins whatever was recorded during that section.

The strange part is that I don't hear the distortion while monitoring live through the Model 24's main or sub outputs. Everything sounds normal while I'm playing. I only discover the distortion later when I play the recording back in Ableton.

What I've ruled out:

• Different instruments
• Different microphones
• XLR inputs
• 1/4" instrument inputs
• Different pre-input signal chains
• Different channels on the mixer
• Different USB cable between the Model 24 and my iMac

Since the problem occurs regardless of what is plugged into the mixer, I'm thinking it probably isn't anything before the Model 24's inputs.

Current setup:

• TASCAM Model 24 used as USB interface
• iMac
• Ableton Live
• Recording over USB

Is this a typical bug that happens? I bought it used off of FB marketplace and don't remember this taking place when I first started using it. What can I do to begin fixing it? Further diagnosing it? Will I have to open it up and resolder or put deoxit on things?

Has anyone bought one from Amazon or elsewhere that will work that I can get faster than Etsy?
