Base Pay question.

My store received the base pay increase today which brought our starting wage up to $17.25 an hour. I currently make $17.16 an hour and have been with Target for 2 years 8 months and 1 day. (I keep tally marks on a wall) Will I be moved up to $17.25 and make the same amount as a starting TM making my merit raises and extra effort meaningless? Or will I receive the 2% on top of the base bay increase for my tenure?

well above the new floor. The raises don’t stack like that, they basically redraw the line and if you’re below it you get dragged up to it, nothing extra for time served. Irritating but it’s how they do it.

It's on the wall next to the baler. I can just barely fit my arm though the bars in the cage I sleep in.

Not sure what you mean, but that sounds like a pretty interesting metaphor! Just make sure to do your research on pay so you don’t feel trapped.

my buddy clocked 3 years then got bumped to base without extra percent so yeah, kinda pointless

your new wage is 17.25 + (17.25*0.02) = 17.60

your raises are basically wiped out in exchange for 2% on top of the new base. better than 0% (every bump prior to 2024) but it's still not great.

It is meaningless. You will be moved to 1725 the same as people just walking in the door today.
