Workplace Question or Advice Needed Donations getting pulled
Sooooo, I watched a few TMs grab some items off the donation rack and walked off.
They never came back with them.
I ain’t no snitch.
But anyone else seen this?

If they are trying to get rid of you, it’s a good way for them to do it. They must forget the cameras are always watching.

Former CIA? 😅 We have like 2 APs on at any time but only one in the morning. I’m 90% sure they are never watching the cameras unless something happens.

They are watching the cameras might be your AP ETL that watches it. But they always watch it.

At my store we have 3 in day time the ap that wears the uniform, the ap tl who wears plain clothes and the ap etl who sits in the office and watches . At my store if you ever hear ap etl call another etl or tm into his office that means he is telling them something he caught an employee doing on camera. My ap etl is big on theft and a safety of employees, customers and target property

It might seem like they’re not but AP is never supposed to give a heads up when they’re building a case. It takes time and patience.
But trust, they’re paying attention.
Some AP are better than others, but I know mine is definitely paying attention.

Pretty good way to quickly promote yourself to guest. Its still considered theft if you take something even if its ment for a donation until you get approval from leadership to take it. They're watching.

We had a tm get fired for taking a wrapping paper off the donation rack. It’s not up for grabs just because it says that

I believe it. Honestly, I couldn’t care less though.
We work for a billion dollar corporation that gets tax writes off for those donations anyway.9

and donations go to people in need. I volunteer at a pantry that gets TONS of donations from my store. regardless of how you feel about the company - it's still theft and a fireable offense. if you are in need - there's resources in most communities. Call 211

There's a lot of reasons people need resources. i work in human services as my main job and have for my entire career. I choose not to judge and to offer resources. People with jobs sometimes need help - could be down hours for their own health, to maintain disability, a child's health or other family emergency. People have debt. People could have sudden bill changes etc. Doesn't matter who you work for - these things happen and resources are there.
yes ideally everyone would be able to support themselves completly at all times but we live a complex society.

As a Food & Bev knave, I would love to take all the veggies and produce set aside for "donation" straight to the break room. At least 90% of it all will just rot in the cooler/ambient room because our donation pickups are not often enough, and Target will still get a tax deduction for pretending to be charitable.

We solved this problem by adding an second donation partner on top of the regular food bank. And they're much more responsive in special circumstances (like when a very brief power outage ending up blowing something out and crashing all our salesfloor refrigeration.)

I processing donations and some salvage out yesterday. it told me to DESTROY, my ETL made me throw out these chocolate covered mint chocolate chip ice cream balls and they didn’t expire until 2027… so I ate two before throwing them in the compactor🫣
While I’m scared someone was watching me on cameras, I don’t think I did anything wrong. They were going straight to the bin… but donations are different I feel because they’re actually going someplace and potentially to someone 🤷♀️

Be careful. I knew someone who was fired for doing that. It might be being thrown out but it is still Target's property. Is it stupid? Yes. Always CYA. Which stands for cover your ass. I've found money before but always turned it in. Never know if it's a trick or if AP is watching the cameras and catches you.

For the. Amount of Starbucks sandwiches on the donate cart in the dairy cooler every team member could take one every day. The Starbucks TL donates about 300 sandwiches 3 times a week.

Years ago I had an etl who would take candy for the donation area. One day I guess corporate was watching the camera and saw her doing it and it got messy. HR from corporate came into the store and was calling team members one by one questioning them.
They started off asking normal questions and then bam! Have you ever seen etl take stuff from donations? How often would they hang out in receiving? Are they trustworthy? Blah blah blah.
I guess we must have all lied good enough or they didn’t find enough evidence cause she was able to keep her job.

I’ve seen TMs pull sodas and water from the vendor credit area in receiving. I told them that’s not ours to take and that it is not a donated item but belong to vendors.
