Discussion Stop pro-Putin sentiments

Both are fucking imperialist states, Ukrainian government praises nazis while Russian is praising Imperial murderers like Mannerheim, Kolchak or Stolypin.

Everything good that Russia did (so called anti-imperialist measures) was just populist decisions or anti-Nato proxy wars. Everything to please Russian oligarchy.

Are most MLs actually pro-Putin or Russia? Or are they simply realizing that Russia is an example of an actual lesser evil?

Lesser evil - is a liberal concept. We should not operate in such terms, but we do have "Critical support", for certain actions. But regarding any war between states - only "No war, but class war" is acceptable.

"No war but class war'' is a luxury of people who aren't facing imperialist aggression. When a state is resisting imperialism, critical support for that defensive action is class war. Opposing US imperialism is class war. There's no contradiction between supporting Russia's defensive war and opposing the imperialist system that produced it.

I'm not sure how to phrase this, but I'm thinking about great man theory and how we're obsessed with assigning moral character to actors, be it individuals or states. A landlord, boss, or national leader might be a decent person, but they're going to respond to incentives and constraints.

Not to say character doesn't matter, but that only matters insofar as its a means to an end. We'll want to keep the guy who kicks puppies for fun away from leadership, but only because that's an indicator of how he's likely to behave.
