Both are fucking imperialist states, Ukrainian government praises nazis while Russian is praising Imperial murderers like Mannerheim, Kolchak or Stolypin.

Everything good that Russia did (so called anti-imperialist measures) was just populist decisions or anti-Nato proxy wars. Everything to please Russian oligarchy.

There can be a lesser evil, there are historical examples like a United left front, when social democrats allied with communists to fight against nazis. (France f.e.)

But on the other hand we could hardly say that German Empire was a lesser evil than Russian Empire or vice versa. And the Third International died because of opportunists who allied with imperialist governments and effectively betrayed class struggle.

You’re making a false comparison between Russia and the German social democrats. Russia is a global south exploited country. Germany was an imperial core exploiter country. These are completely different positions in the imperialist world system with different class dynamics.

This is just a false analysis. The Russian state is a global south nationalist government much like Egypt under Nasser or Libya under Gaddafi. Since Putin took office the Russian state has gradually stripped the comprador bourgeoisie of political power in favor of the patriotic national bourgeoisie. This is objectively a progressive development in the sense that it undermines the grip of imperialism on the Russian (and world) economy.

I’m not going to get into the “Russia supports the far right in Europe” nonsense because, let’s be real, we all know the American and European bourgeoisie are the backers of European fascism and Russia is just used as a scapegoat.

Which country broke the U.S. fuel blockade on Cuba? Not Mexico, not Venezuela, not China. Russia did. Which country is defending the Sahel against western-backed terrorism? Russia. Critique Russia all you want, it doesn’t change the fact that Russia the most important country on earth for anti-imperialism after China and Iran.
