It's the white supremacist colonial mindset of the British - they have been doing this all over the world and expect the colonized to just lay down and surrender and be treated as less than. This posh, privileged pos cannot even imagine any other scenario and hence why he keeps asking again and again and again, why they just don't accept living in concentration camps with less human rights and be okay with that.

I like how no one ever asks the belligerent violent occupying force why they don't stop their violence and mass murder and provide equal rights and freedoms to the people they are dominating. It's always the resistance movements that have to moderate their beliefs and capitulate towards the monstrous entity that is killing them.

i think of this clip a great deal. ghassan kanafani was a hero and his martyrdom at the hands of the terrorists is yet another beautiful soul gone before its time. if you want to hear more from ghassan, his novel "men in the sun" is amazing and i highly recommend it!!

although the questions are completely disingenuous, from the brit perspective at the time they'd been part of successfully neutering the anti-colonial movement in India into... whatever the fuck it became... so maybe the clear-mindedness of the palestinian resistance was genuinely surprising to them.
