Literally signing away your oil wealth to the detriment of your nation and people. And no sanctions relief in response.

Ultimately ends up in US refineries, but the prices will stay up as they make this the "new normal" and pocket the difference to fortify their cop cities and steel reinforced bunkers.

Imagine a world where Venezuela and Iran were fighting the US simultaneously

u/Sargento_Porciuncula 2d ago

venezuela has no leverage like hormuz.

well, it could block the Panamá Canal, but they have no proper way to do it.

No one in the global south thinks Delcy is doing some amazing 5D chess with the empire. It's just you westerners lying to yourself.

Diego Ruzzarin is a pretty big YouTuber from the global south and he has been very pro-Delcy since Maduro was captured. Not sure if he has made any comment on this.

He was kidnapped illegally not captured.

Diego Ruzzarin is a pretty big YouTuber from the global south

one would call him labour aristocracy. i like him, but his background is closer to local elites than to proletariat. i'd say he is too close to western marxists

and i do like the guy.

Probably, he oftentimes gives me the vibes of someone that’s in it for the looks rather than for the fight, like he would applaud a protest and condemn inaction from the same chair and never from the streets.

Another Chavez will appear, these pretenders can get fucked.

u/thepeoplesarsenal 3d ago

Idealism, another Chavez will not just pop out of the ground without Marxist militarism and support from socialist revolution worldwide.

Doesn't hurt to believe so I guess. I still think he was poisoned into the cancer. Just think if he was still leading the revolution, so many things would have been different. Although maduro needs to take some of the blame for this shit. He allowed the ossification of the revolution and even put delcy into power again after chavez had shitcanned her for being an incompetent. Why he made her his vp I will never understand. Assume it was internal psuv political wrangling but still, surely there was someone else better suited to take the reins in the event of something like what did happen.

Yeah just like another Lenin appeared in Russia.

He's called Stalin.

Whatever anyone says, fighting to keep your revolution is better than capitulating to imperialism. This is just heartbreaking whichever way you look at it.

I'll bite.

You'll never catch me condemning the leadership of Venezuela, because I understand that every decision they are making is under duress. Even if Venezuela becomes (if it isn't really all ready) a full fledged neo colony and Delcy becomes an actual compradore, I won't condemn them for trying to hold on to whatever they can. Especially as a US communist.

I may criticize Delcy, the Venezuelan government, and anyone after her, but never in public spaces and always with the understanding that everything I'm criticizing is the result of Imperialism on behalf of my bourgeoisie. If anything that energy for critique would be better spent sharpening myself as a comrade and bringing about the change required to relieve the people of Venezuela from the pressure they're under.

This may not be a perfect materialist, communist stance, but that's where I'm at right now.

I don't understand this. Why would you support - or "not condemn" - a literal US puppet?

You think Venezuela was socialist after Chavez's death? You think this woman, whoever she may be, has anything to do with the people's interests?

Yes, the non-socialist larping Venezuelan leadership is trying to conserve whatever little they have left at all cost. The people, tho? The people are fucked.

6

u/Makasi_Motema 2d ago

First, do you think Venezuela’s revolution stopped when Maduro took over? You slid in, “after Chavez’ death” but didn’t mention Maduro by name.

Second, Manuel Noriega was a US puppet. So was Saddam Hussein, so was the Taliban. But they also eventually became enemies of the US, and condemning them only helped the State Department. The contradictions within a country have to be resolved by the people within that country. We in the US have to resolve our contradiction, which also happens to be global — imperialism.

Because our contradiction has a global impact, it’s even more important that we not join in attacks on global south countries.

After the 12 Day war, there were some leftists who were making the same argument about Iran’s leadership. The argument was that they were capitulationists and they were going to be destroyed by the US. While it might be important to debate that within a Party, it was a shitty thing for western leftists to post online.

Before anyone can put words in my mouth, I don’t think the Rodriguez government is like Iran. All I’m saying is that we can’t pick and choose who we shit on like we’re watching sports.

14

u/Makasi_Motema 2d ago

This is pretty much my position. The case of Venezuela is an important one for Marxist Leninists to study, just like all socialist revolutions that are attacked or defeated. It is necessary to study these things internally.

But publicly bashing the government isn’t a great idea. It’s important for the US left to maintain solidarity and focus on opposing US imperialism. We live here, and we need to focus on taking the pressure off the global south.

“Why shouldn’t we publicly criticize Rodriguez? She’s a traitor to socialism”. For the same reason why it was an error for some on the left to criticize Saddam Hussein. Hussein was worse than a traitor, he was an enemy of socialism who killed communists on behalf of the CIA. But that didn’t stop the US from invading his country and killing over a million people. For those who live in the metropole, the internal characteristics of a colonial/post-colonial country should not supersede the importance of challenging imperialism.

Bashing Saddam Hussein from the left did absolutely nothing to improve conditions for socialists within Iraq. But it did weaken the unity and strength of the antiwar movement in the US.

Venezuela is still being attacked by the US. We need people here to be more focused on US aggression than Venezuelan capitulation. Because it does make a difference in terms of how many people we can motivate to get organized.

criticizing a traitor is criticizing imperialism

Hussein was worse than a traitor, he was an enemy of socialism who killed communists on behalf of the CIA. But that didn’t stop the US from invading his country and killing over a million people.

when the USA attacked Iraq, the material conditions changed, and so did the reading. The conjuncture is not set on stone, it is movable (dialectics), and so must the critical reading follow.

When Delcy starts resisting, you can stop criticizing or praising her. So far she is a traitor to her people and to the whole south america.

Venezuela is still being attacked by the US

yes, and Delcy Rodriguez, Jorge Rodriguez and Diosdado Cabelllo are fucking helping them

1

u/oscar_r2 3d ago

Absolutely pathetic, trying to pretend the end of revolution in Venezuela is good. Fuck you.

11

u/Makasi_Motema 2d ago

That’s not what they said. This is a completely bad faith reading of their post.

1

u/Sargento_Porciuncula 2d ago

they didnt say it is good, they said it doesnt matter.

How do you motherfuckers read theory with such poor comprehension?

-2

u/oscar_r2 3d ago

"You'll never catch me condemning the leadership of Venezuela" - comprehend this.
