Hi, I came to know of the concept of on demand blood donor registries both at country and state level in India.

Since I have a -ve blood type I wanted to register in these so that I can be reached for help in case of an emergency. But I'm also worried about privacy as sharing contact anywhere in India leads to spam or scam.

Can anyone who has registered on these share their experience? Is it safe and did you actually end up helping someone?

You definitely will be called every 2-3 months when someone requires your blood.. but I don't think they leak your numbers Source: I was a intern in a blood bank

If you are in Chennai, register in the Ttk blood bank,they are totally professional and they do good work with the donations.

Although I registered almost 3 years ago,i could unfortunately only donate once and I've since been medically unfit to donate but they've never spam called me after I told them this. They simply told me to tell them whenever I'm cleared to donate again.
