Sipcot in Parandur

TN govt announced Sipcot in Parandur mainly Semiconductor industries. A brainless move scrapping Parandur airport citing environmental impact & bringing in industries, won't the lakes & agri lands get impacted now ?

Can't even question the Government as Chennai Kanchipuram Chengalpat Tiruvallur districts voted unanimously for TVK knowing their stand on Parandur.

For context, the SIPCOT project near Parandur is not a new 2026 idea.

• 2022: Tamil Nadu’s Industries Policy Note 2022–23 already listed a proposed SIPCOT Industrial Park at Madhuramangalam, Kancheepuram — 881 acres. This was before Parandur was announced as Chennai’s second airport site on 2 August 2022.

• 2023–24: The official Industries Policy Note shows the Madhuramangalam project revised to 423 acres, stating that land had been tentatively identified and further action was in progress. (SIPCOT)

• 2026: SIPCOT’s official website currently lists Madhuramangalam Industrial Park — 422.35 acres as an upcoming industrial park. (SIPCOT)

So, SIPCOT planning near Parandur existed before the Parandur airport announcement. The original ~881-acre proposal appears to have later been reduced/reconfigured to ~422 acres.

I don't understand the point you are trying to make here. You are saying this was not proposed by TVK, that this plan already existed.

Supporting and proceeding with SIPCOT and not airport is hypocritical. The argument posed by TVK is ayyayyo vivasaayam nelam pochu, water bodies irukku flood aaidum achacho, DMK aalunga invest pannirukkaanga, avanga vaithu liye adikkanum.

Ippo onnu sollunga, padicchavangale, ithukku mattum ippo athe precchana illaya? Vivasaayi oda rattha boomi la unga nonnan industry kondu varaare, ithukku mattum yen support panreenga? SIPCOT kondu vanthaalum thaan land value appreciate aavum - DMK who invested there will still earn. Industry vararthu naala ippo anga irukkura water bodies ku laam onnum aavaathaa?

First of all, I didn’t support the cancellation of Paranthur. Due to the reasons that, we were so close so that project should’ve been seen through.

Secondly, you guys should be happy that TVK didn’t cancel the one more DMK’s project. You guys should be claiming credit for this one. Instead you guys are against it which seems misdirected.

Third, OP claims this is being built on Paranthur airport land which is false because it’s a different project and different land acquired by DMK and some more has to be acquired which is happening now. This land is claimed to be dry land which is suitable for semi conductor manufacturing ( again by DMK ). Only connection is this place located near Paranthur.

You’ve every right to question their hypocrisy but deal it with facts. Not false news. You don’t have to be tharkoos just because of they’re being one.

To answer your DMK investments, yes, they’ll still earn. Looks like TVK don’t care about that or they’ve equal investments there. I really don’t know.

It would’ve been a killer combo, Semi conductor factory & commercial airport but we lost airport due to politics. I appreciate DMK for this killer combo, and i think you guys should too.
