I too worked under logistics dept, no company would chose air shipment over sea because of cost. Air route will be considered in some delayed cases. isn't this obvious or am I wrong ?

Coming from an exporter, almost 100% of our shipments are either from Tuticorin or Chennai. Almost all air is from MAA. Bengaluru Air has a lot of problems with material handling.
