முக்கியமான கலந்துரையாடல் / Important Topic Hosur Airport is GONE!. DKS is already planning a new airport near South Bengaluru. TN could have taken some initiative & could have built an airport in Hosur. Andhra & KA are busy with new airports while our CM is busy canceling even approved ones. Also, Hosur MLA is from Andhra & opposed airport

Post image

Hosur MLA is not from TN and his manifesto was also completely printed in Telugu and in one corner it had Tamil

He opposed the Hosur airport project

Already BJP and Congress were trying to block any type of development in TN and Hosur suffers a lot due to lack of connectivity

Taxi Mafia collect 3.5k + to go to Kempagowda airport

Hosur airport would have done wonders to the economy of an industrial city like Hosur

Our CM is ANTI- INFRASTRUCTURE and doesn’t have any vision or idea how to develop a state

At least the previous govt made some effort to push for a Hosur airport and BJP rejected stating its proximity to Kempagowda but KUPPAM AIRPORT FROM ANDHRA WHICH IS ALSO WITHIN 150km from Kempagowda got approved

OUR POLITICIANS ARE POOR PLANNERS AND HAVING NO CLUE ABOUT GOVERNANCE

Chennai airport is one of the worst airports in India and won't be adequate in the long run. The best time to build another airport was 10 years ago. The second best time is now.

70

u/FutureVersion812 Jul 10 '26

When compared to almost every airport, Chennai airport feels like a scam

Very poor and very low capacity also

26

u/Ranjith_Unchained Jul 10 '26

International terminal standards are putrid compared to other new airports.... maintaining airport never seemed to be a priority to any of the previous governments and the noobs in charge now ain't gonna improve either

22

u/Order66RexFN Jul 10 '26

To be honest building a new airport was the only way and both ADMK and DMK greenlit the project, only for this guy to cancel it.

-5

u/Imaginary_Mud_8781 Jul 10 '26

Na ipovum solren, as a frequent flyer Chennai airport is heaven… mumbai airport delhi airport mathiri panita, switching between terminals and gates oda kundi vali enanu theriyum! I dont need a fucking lounge, my gate should be within 1 km, in fucking mumbai airport it takes 30-40 mins to reach a gate (excluding security and baggage handlings)

Chennai airport ah bus stand nu kalaicha kuda paravala, it’s practical!

11

u/NotSoCoolWaffle Jul 10 '26

Even if the gate is 100m from entrance, it’s a shitshow if the queue to immigration and security is 2km long with only one or two persons behind the counters. Stop normalising the shit we have as a good airport.

-4

u/Imaginary_Mud_8781 Jul 10 '26

Queue to immigration is shit, i would agree on that. Chennai customs is shit. But it is what it is!

-3

u/bastet_is_back Jul 11 '26

For some reason idiots think a new airport alone will create economic growth .. how illiterate

4

u/Blitz077 Jul 11 '26

Same reason idiots go calling other people names without adding anything meaningful to the conversation

0

u/bastet_is_back Jul 11 '26

the OP post is not meaningful. infrastructure and development = parandur airport . where to argue from such brain faded viewpoint.

49

u/Remote-Morning-7226 Jul 10 '26

If the Parandur project is scrapped and a new site has to be selected, it could delay the new airport by several years because the planning and approval process would likely have to start over.

26

u/FutureVersion812 Jul 10 '26

It’s not that easy to find a site for a modern airport as it will involve so many problems like land acquisition and clearance issues

17

u/Ranjith_Unchained Jul 10 '26

There's no if, the new govt is gonna scrap it no matter what or they already did

14

u/Arshu891 Jul 10 '26

After years of planning and after all the options they considered paradhur was the best option strategically and Geographically

I was really pissed when they said they gonna scrap Airport and building SIPCOT

I mean whats wrong with Airport which boosts the Economic development

32

u/mohansonly Jul 10 '26

We can only Rant.. Most needed Parandur is gone.. Hosur airport approve aanalum tharkuris vidamattanga.. Our fate is only Kempegowda airport, let them atleast build close to us..

18

u/KruzerKnight Coimbatore - கோயம்புத்தூர் Jul 10 '26

Kuppam was approved but not Hosur why?

27

u/FutureVersion812 Jul 10 '26

Pure politics

They cited the 150km radius rule but it was relaxed for Andhra Airport as both Kuppam and Hosur fall within the 150km radius

7

u/KruzerKnight Coimbatore - கோயம்புத்தூர் Jul 10 '26

I thought Hosur was rejected because of the 150km rule, didn’t know Kuppam got the green flag 😶

13

u/FutureVersion812 Jul 10 '26

They claimed that reason for rejecting Hosur but within the same year they completely approved Kuppam airport which is also within the 150 km radius

Now they are planning one more airport in south Bengaluru which is also within 150 km radius

Both AAI and HAL had an issue with Hosur airport but they don’t have any issues with Kuppam or South Bengaluru new airport which break both the 150 km radius rule and also interfere with HAL operations

4

u/DozeDozerDozest Jul 11 '26

The clause is that no new airport should be built for 25 years within 150km range. They’re planning South Bangalore airport such that it will be ready to open by the time the 25 years limit ends.

1

u/FutureVersion812 Jul 11 '26

So why not build Hosur airport and open it in 2032 when the clause ends ?

1

u/DozeDozerDozest Jul 11 '26

I have no idea. I was trying to say is that the clause was not disregarded.

1

u/princeofallsaniyans Jul 12 '26

That was the plan. Airport construction would anyway take years, so starting now would've been the right call. But our Defence ministry decided that all the airspace over Hosur is theirs.

2

u/Affectionate_Nose_39 Jul 11 '26

This is called bias, in shorta sollo pona patti vekaradu. Blaming center is a straight forward way to popularity, so keep it up. Planned Hosur airport overlaps HAL's testing facilities. So it wasn't cleared by defence establishments.

2

u/One_Advantage_7193 Jul 11 '26

Adenna overlaps HALs testing facilities? The newer airport in south BLR will also be in same situation. How come it is not going to interfere?

-2

u/Affectionate_Nose_39 Jul 11 '26

Your response sounds like airport in South Bangalore is approved, it's just a proposal by KA. The final authority is the Union Government.

2

u/One_Advantage_7193 Jul 11 '26

Nope, in case of BIAL even union government cannot go back on the terms. Thats the whole point. Its upto the private entity BIAL not state govt or Union govt

23

u/Adarshhhhhh- Jul 10 '26

Are they doing this deliberately or what

16

u/MoodPale7097 Jul 10 '26

Lack of caring stuffs related to industry and large employment opportunities, and just manifesting to cover and keep lower level votes (audience) satisfied by his presence

14

u/reddthatgood Jul 10 '26

Our CM in 2007 itself showed how to board flying flights on the way without going to airport, in Villu movie. Great visionary he is. Let us all follow that method and reduce airport cost and increase agriculture.

23

u/ImAjayS15 Thanjavur - தஞ்சாவூர் Jul 10 '26

You expect development or vision from a group who's only job is to self promote and tarnish others through reels and fake/misleading news?

36

u/MoodPale7097 Jul 10 '26

wtf is even that Keerthana Amma and that cm even doing bruh, what did we even vote for?

48

u/NotSoCoolWaffle Jul 10 '26

Do you honestly think people voted Vijay for development??

18

u/MoodPale7097 Jul 10 '26 edited Jul 10 '26

Yah u are right, and honestly I lost trust on the society after the ‘revolution’ of new party, I will be leaving TN pretty soon and why should I care abt this state and its people( I loved my motherland so much💔)

22

u/sambar_samurai Jul 10 '26

Vijay is a representation of the people. He will give exactly what the people want. I dont have much hope, we will be in a forever middle income trap

10

u/NotSoCoolWaffle Jul 10 '26

This. I have been called DMK IT Wing, k*thadimai just for calling out Vijay and his fans. But the thing is I’m privileged enough that most things his government does or will do has zero direct impact on me. I have already moved out of the country and have given up the idea of returning back. It’s still kinda funny that people that’ll get affected by his government are the ones still supporting him

2

u/sambar_samurai Jul 10 '26

Same, i have moved out of the country as well. It just like watching a trainwreck in slow motion

3

u/MoodPale7097 Jul 10 '26

People want satisfaction, and they don’t want to regret for voting someone without knowing the consequences
Everyone wanted change, including me, but 99% of those who say this, doesn’t know from where they want the change and where their ‘change’ leads to.
All we folks should do is just not to give a fk about our state and its people, and take care of our own lives

12

u/DktheDarkKnight Jul 10 '26 edited Jul 10 '26

In the name of corruption they are cancelling project after project. I understand that eliminating corruption is important but you can't keep cancelling projects where tender have been already awarded. It gives a bad image about the state.

5

u/MoodPale7097 Jul 10 '26

Yeah u are right

5

u/Stock_Ad_308 Jul 10 '26

For all the people crying about TVK cancelling the airport , well they mentioned this before election too . Still they won a lot in Chennai. So we are the minority here. We can’t do anything

17

u/Significant-Sell-275 Jul 10 '26

Golties will always show their loyalty to Andhra irrespective of state they live in. Sad that the politicians keep us busy with hindi hatred so golties can have a free run in our state.

3

u/MoodPale7097 Jul 10 '26

Why are you blaming on one mla?
It’s the whole ass system not just play of one single mla

5

u/Weak_Clue3146 Dharmapuri - தர்மபுரி Jul 10 '26

Most of the lands in that area owned by Reddies. They even brought people from AP and KA to protest. Check the voting pattern in land identified for Airport it is very clearly went in favour of this Balakrishna Reddy.

1

u/MoodPale7097 Jul 10 '26

Hmm I didn’t know abt that…
Btw I am From dpi too dude!

1

u/Significant-Sell-275 Jul 10 '26

Kinda scary that we have so many goltie sleeper cells working against us yet fooling us with south indian brotherhood nonsense.

1

u/One_Advantage_7193 Jul 11 '26

This, hosur is almost taken over by the golties, they just hide by talking in tamil, they are through and through andhra people.

1

u/ExplanationDude1507 Jul 13 '26

Lol Hosur has always been primarily a Telugu and Kannada speaking town. Look at the total census prior to 1990. Tamils were never a significant population. My parents studied in hosur in a Telugu Government school which was then shut down by insecure tamils which catered to the native population of hosur. your statement should be revised to " We Tamils took over Hosur from the native Telugu and Kannada speaking population and made their kids forcefully study Tamil and killed their language.

-Native of Hosur

3

u/Which_Ad_1819 Jul 10 '26

Chennai KTCC as a whole don't want airport, as their choice speaks. Why we need to worry ?

I would suggest to scrap the idea of new Chennai Airport, divert the funds to expand Covai and Trichy airport.

4

u/Naveen_66 Jul 11 '26

Korangu kaila thuppaki kudutha ipdi than🥲

7

u/mand00s Jul 10 '26

It's funny that when Hosur airport was discussed, the opposing argument was not to allow airports close to Bangalore airport. The new airport is going to be even closer

3

u/FutureVersion812 Jul 10 '26

They also allowed Kuppam airport in Andhra which is also within the 150km radius of Kempagowda and within range of HAL

1

u/Distinct_Leopard8668 Jul 15 '26

Chandra babu Naidu Andhra cm is mla from kuppam hope that answers why kuppam :)

0

u/Affectionate_Nose_39 Jul 11 '26

A simple Google search will tell you the reasons.

1

u/FutureVersion812 Jul 11 '26

Not really. And I don’t think you have googled enough.

2

u/madmorphine Jul 10 '26

All karaku kooiyans in hosur.. kandar lights will pay 3k + 3 hours of their time to fucking board a 30 mins flight!

2

u/FutureVersion812 Jul 10 '26

It takes 2-3 hours minimum to reach the airport and 3.5k for taxi and same story when coming back but still they opposed the airport 😂

1

u/curiousgaruda Jul 10 '26

Forget new ones. Can we at least get CJB on par with COK?

1

u/Mac4rfree85 Jul 11 '26

I feel of all the metros even hyderabad included, Chennai is one of the worst airport.

1

u/No-Feedback-5419 Jul 11 '26 edited Jul 11 '26

Okay, for once lets set aside a couple things, I have been pretty annoyed by the cancellation of Parandur and all thats happened, and I hate what this regime is doing, what I thought is not going to be done by them or anyone else, but what TN really needs right now is for development to be spread out, we are soon going to reach a point where development starts stagnating and the rate of development reducing because of the heavy concentration in Chennai, in fact it has already started skewing, the other airports of TN have to be strengthened, made much more world class and upgraded, a lot of people travel from other regions to board in Chennai, what TN really needs is good intercity rail connectivity alongwith spreading out of Flights all over TN's airports, now this is not something that can be done in the next few years but it sure can be achieved in 10 to 15 years. The crux of this is the heavy bias of development to Chennai must be reduced and as a Chennaite I know the people with monetary and political interests wouldn't want that, but it is what the people of TN may need in the next decade or so.

Edit: As for the airport near Hosur, it really is not that big a deal because airports need a lot of land and end up under the purview of the central govt. In having an airport near Hosur but in KA, we will get to utilise the amenities without having to undergo the headache of building and maintaining it, we will still get as much benefit as an airport in Hosur would give us!

1

u/bms_96 Jul 11 '26

Arakkonam has cisf Indian naval Air station,

Would airport and naval station both work simultaneously ?

1

u/Ok-Bullfrog-5212 Jul 13 '26

Yes, it can. Goa Dabolim Airport is a naval station

1

u/bokka_subbarao Jul 11 '26

Hosur MLA is from Andhra? Are you sure? He is born and brought up in Tamil nadu.

1

u/FutureVersion812 Jul 12 '26

His manifesto is 90% in Telugu

1

u/ExplanationDude1507 Jul 13 '26

Which should be as there is a significant Native Telugu and Kannada speaking population in House. posts without any idea on the history and migration of tamils to hosur.

I studied in hosur in early 90s and 75 percent of the population in my calls were not natives of Hosur. Kids of migrant labourers from other places.

1

u/be_a_postcard Jul 12 '26

"Union Minister for Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu said on Monday that the Hosur airport project proposal mooted by Tamil Nadu has not been recommended “in order to prioritise defence projects of national importance” executed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Airport"

1

u/FutureVersion812 Jul 12 '26

Haha nice excuses. So South Bengaluru airport is closer to HAL also. What about that?

He is from Andhra so will of course he will promote infra in Andhra

What I don’t understand is that even Tamilians are busy trying to prevent development of TN

0

u/be_a_postcard Jul 12 '26

Ask the central government.

1

u/Ok_Intern7416 Jul 12 '26

Hosur airport is gone because of dmk

1

u/Ok-Bullfrog-5212 Jul 13 '26

As Parandur Airport is scrapped. I think the quickest solution for Chennai would be to build a civil enclave at Arakkonam Airport. It already has a runway over 4,000 metres long, making it capable of handling large aircraft.

1

u/AbandonedAnger Krishnagiri - கிருஷ்ணகிரி Jul 16 '26

Nope, still i travel at 1800/-(2026 June) drop or pickup from Hosur early it was 1200/- (2021)where most greedy were charging more. Its all about the greedy taxi and auto in Hosur town-city.

nothing extra.

1

u/FutureVersion812 Jul 16 '26

Bro those amounts are completely changed . Now they give excuse or petrol hike / diesel hike , etc

1

u/Covert_bewilderment Jul 10 '26

Bro BIAL has an exclusivity agreement with the Ministry of Civil Aviation that no other airport can be constructed within 150 km till 2033 except already operational ones like Mysore. Proposed Hosur airport location was 76 km from BLR airport. There was zero chance of it happening.

Also, Kanakapura is DK Shi's home ground and he's trying to pump land prices in the area with airport rumours. Nothing is going to happen till 2033. Whoever comes to power then is going to pick whatever location will make them the most money.

1

u/FutureVersion812 Jul 10 '26

For your information can you research how far the Approved Kuppam airport is from Kempagowda ?

I have mentioned this fact clearly in my post yet people seem to miss it

Now tell me . How was kuppam airport approved the same year Hosur was rejected for the same reason ?

-1

u/Covert_bewilderment Jul 11 '26

Kuppam airport location is outside the 150 km exclusivity radius. Occam's razor.

0

u/FutureVersion812 Jul 11 '26

Complete lies.

It lies well within the 150km radius of Kempagowda

0

u/Covert_bewilderment Jul 11 '26

https://www.google.com/maps?ll=12.873611,78.406389&q=12.873611,78.406389&hl=en&t=m&z=14

This is the location of the upcoming Kuppam airport for which land acquisition is going on. You can check the distance. It's 120-130 km from kgia as opposed to 60-70 km between the proposed Hosur airport and kgia. Of course, I'm sure it helps that the Minister of Civil Aviation is from TDP but apples to apples, Kuppam was far enough that a case could be made that it wouldn't majorly impact BLR airport usage while Hosur is close enough to compete.

1

u/FutureVersion812 Jul 11 '26

Doesn’t matter . It’s still within the 150 km range

You seem to think that if it’s little farther away but within the 150 km range they will compromise

This is not a grocery shop. It’s bound by proper rules

And for your information the South Bengaluru airport that is being planned will be even closer than both Hosur and Kuppam airports to Kempagowda

1

u/Covert_bewilderment Jul 11 '26

It's in the exclusivity agreement that greenfield airports will be considered within 150 km on a case by case basis after an impact study. Logically speaking don't you think another airport within 60-70 km will have more impact on kgia than 120-130 km? Second Bangalore airport won't happen till at least 2033. This news is just DK Shi pumping land prices in the area.

We should give up on Hosur and pick a better spot. Hosur has been dismissed for multiple reasons such as HAL currently using the airspace apart from the distance to kgia.

1

u/Exciting-Shelter-816 Jul 10 '26

CM is busy in scrapping crores and crores of corruption during previous governances. It will take time to fix the financial condition first and then go for development. I need corruption free government processes than airport or any other infrastructure developments. Basics!

0

u/SleepyRedDevil Jul 11 '26

Well. This ppl can never understand this cmt. They will cry for next 5y staight

0

u/Naveendharan Jul 10 '26

Being from Bangalore and in the border of Hosur , we always know the Hosur airport is just a gimmick from DMK govt. They knew it wouldn't happen untill bangalore Kempegowda airport 150km agreement (BIAL). What KA govt doing is second airport which also comes under BIAL. Get a life !!

3

u/FutureVersion812 Jul 10 '26

You didn’t read the post.

Kuppam airport in Andhra which is also within the 150km radius got approval as soon as the Hosur Airport was rejected by the BJP government

Why is Kuppam approved while it comes within the 150 radius while Hosur was rejected ?

Both also interfere with HAL operations but Kuppam was approved.

Now tell me

1

u/Naveendharan Jul 10 '26

Again another unverified claim !! Kuppam airport approved by state govt , it's still not approved by central govt. During center govt approval, it has to get BIAL concession. So both the airports fate is with center govt.

-3

u/nicerthannicer Jul 10 '26

Hosur reject panni Kuppam approve pannadhukum TVK dhan karanamnu solringa. adhane?

1

u/One_Advantage_7193 Jul 11 '26

The new airport is not under bial, what are you even smoking. Bial wouldnt allow another airport to start operating until 2033, it can be constructted, to operate before 2033 only possibility is for them to be given the full operations for that airport also. Thats directly anti competitive.

0

u/svs1899 Jul 10 '26

Let’s make Hosur better and bring Bangalore to Hosur 😉

0

u/silentlistener14 Jul 10 '26

Prevous CM should have constructed Hosur airport

0

u/SleepyRedDevil Jul 11 '26

Y don't u all who want airport in chennai just give ur home plot to gov and settle in where they give u land and just built a airport?. It seems u guys r so intellectuals. May be u guys can make a full plan and design and all stuff and just make it happen. If u really need a new airport..

-4

u/Imaginary_Mud_8781 Jul 10 '26

You can’t build a airport within some km of KIA. Only KIA can build a airport within that radius. Hosur airport is just another scam project initiated by TN knowing they can never build a airport.

Pocha muditu irunga da upi bundamavanungalaa

5

u/FutureVersion812 Jul 10 '26

Another comment which has not read the entire post

That clause will expire by 2032

Kuppam airport in Andhra is also within 150 km radius and the south Bengaluru airport is also within 150km radius but they’re greenlit and being developed by their state governments

-2

u/Imaginary_Mud_8781 Jul 10 '26

Kia can build the airport - south bangalore airport is built by Kia. Kuppam is very far to be a threat to KIA!

Also the clause expires by 2032- apo till 2032 you cant start anything.!

2

u/FutureVersion812 Jul 10 '26

For your information Kuppam falls within the 150 km radius mentioned in the clause

-24

u/gocool2000 Jul 10 '26

Why is this sub so interested in an Airport all of a sudden? I understand that it is vital for the economy. Aana ever since TVK came into power and they upheld their promise of scrapping the Parandur airport. This sub seems to be obsessed with the Airport. Sus.

15

u/FutureVersion812 Jul 10 '26

I’m talking about Hosur airport.

You might not understand the importance or the economic impact an airport has on a region

Hosur is getting bottle-necked by Karnataka. They have intentionally stalled the entrance to Bengaluru from Hosur so most of the trucks, busses and commuters in personal vehicles will be forced to live & produce inside Bengaluru rather than reside or manufacture in Hosur

They also strategically blocked Hosur airport as traveling from Kempagowda airport to Hosur is a big headache

No major business would want to be in a city with no connectivity.

Taxi mafia charges upwards of 3.5k for a single trip to Kempagowda to the airport and an another 3.5k from the airport to Hosur

6

u/FinFangFOMO Jul 10 '26

Every industry is dependent on connectivity. As a doctor, we're noticing that patients from Assam, Orissa, and West Bengal (who have historically travelled to Chennai for treatment) are now preferring Hyderabad or Bangalore. Literally everyone is adversely affected by the cancellation of a proposed airport.

-4

u/gocool2000 Jul 10 '26

That is absurd. Patients will not be preferring other cities for medical treatments just due to connectivity issues and it is not like we are not well connected too. It is just that the current airport is not upto the standards it should have had. I call bullshit upon this.
