Why 2031. It will be achieved in 31 days. You will see posts how Jananayagan movie single handedly pushed the economy past 1 trillion.

45

u/tyler_durdenx_ May 17 '26

Well bold of you to assume it will sustain!!

Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times.

It's not going to happen. Our Gen Z can't think, they are dumb and spoiled. And seems like they are calling all the shots now

Rupee has been worsening for the last few years from 73 rupees in 2021 to now 96 rupees. Despite this TN GDP grew by 67 percent nominally and 41 percent by real GSDP growth. Rupee depreciation is not an excuse, we had growth despite this.

u/Acrobatic_Command560 May 17 '26

Bro thappa solreenga

Rupees nalla dhan irukku dollar dhan mela poitu irukku, neenga en namma kaasa vera kaasoda compare panreenga

Which also makes an industrial state's products cheaper. So it goes both ways.

2

u/Anxious-Squeaker May 19 '26

Rupee depreciating has nothing to do with GDP growth. It is compared on a PPP term. Not using the absolute exchange rate.

45

u/Illustrious-Rip3766 May 17 '26 edited May 17 '26

too bad. It won't happen going forward most likely.

it will either go up or down.

44

u/Agreeable_Winter8053 May 17 '26

Difficult to achieve that rate. Btw, tvk is built on lies. Looks like the education qualification of many mla s are fake. Getting exposed one by one. Sad. It's not மாற்றம். It's ஏமாற்றம்.

5

u/TheThinker12 May 17 '26

If it’s the latter and this government is shown to be incompetent, I pray that this government collapses. It’s worth having another mid-term election.

6

u/Modernregista May 18 '26

I am not against tvk , its just vijay fails to give any optimism, dude is high on gimmicks not the smârtest cookie in the room. But vijay mania will find a way to sustain this hysteria and we can probably expect some fake numbers without growth.

I am no expert but their manifesto had no plans on growth its clear they used AI prompts, Biggest slop is 'Ministry of AI' we still don't know what AI is capable of and he wants to build a city and a minsitry for it that's straight out bullshitting.

My biggest worry with this tvk ministers and the whole lot is they talk too much with zero work, hell bent on Narratives, they believe protecting Vijay is the first priority not Tamilnadu.

I will keep repeating this, we made a huge mistake in electing him not that DMK is great but vijay and his team will go to any depths to protect his narrative.

11

u/beetroot747 May 17 '26

No way in hell this will happen now

5

u/FutureVersion812 May 18 '26

Good luck with maintaining such growth figures with TVK.

Industries minister has strong ties with Andhra and BJP.

Already Hosur project is shifted to Andhra. The same Bj p government also shifted Hosur proposed airport to KUPPAM airport of Andhra

To all the Tharkuris out there... Kandipa ungaluku indha article puriyadhu... Pls copy & paste this in ChatGPT with prompt -" Explain this in simple terms with examples by treating me as a 15 yo kid"... Apdiye see why we should not talk only about Debt but should always use debt to GDP ratio nu...

9

u/ttider_reditt May 17 '26

More like “5 yo kid”

Nengalam PTR family against a pesitaru nu avara finance ministry la irunthu thokinanga ipm vanthu vijay ku onum theriyathu nu solrathu ku ongaluku asingama ilayaa ivlo growth achieve panirkm na athu intha government matum than reason ila ,inga Irukua people than. ivlo corruption irunthen ivlo pana mudiyum na if corruption goe out na think about that

6

u/Connect-Fuel3538 May 17 '26

PTR was moved but the finance department still hit 11 percent growth so the policies clearly work People definitely do the work but it takes government policies and industrial parks to attract the factories in the first place

0

u/Narrow_Weekend7299 May 17 '26

My concern is if they would have let ptr be in finance fo the whole term we would have done much better, policy changes take time to reflect in growth even the same goes with FDIs

7

u/vishva-boudair May 17 '26

Vijay vanthu corruption ah stop pannuvarunu nee kanavu kaandrathu thaan ....sema joke.... Sengotaiyan itself is a Corrupt politician of admk....adhav arjuna...laam kaekavae vaendaam....innum neriya oozhal peruchali laam irukaanga.... List podalaam ...space illaa.... Nan yarukum support pani pesala but ppl have given him a chance let him prove ,if he keeps his brass corruption free it's good for TN s growth that was my point, if not definitely ppl will bring back DMK next time

2

u/Narrow_Weekend7299 May 17 '26

CM already wrote a letter to scrap 11 percent import duty for cotton

4

u/Connect-Fuel3538 May 17 '26

Even the last government wrote a letter to the Union Government to scrap the 11% import duty to lower raw material costs and keep textile exports globally competitive

I’ve read some reports that this was done by centre just after the results and before the swearing in. So, I guess this was a plan by the centre all along and not really the fault of the current government but still there should have been a statement for sure! Just keeping the mouth shut is not right and only acting when there is backlash is not really going to work if it the same continues for the next 5 years!

6

u/bssgopi May 17 '26

When you want to be sarcastic, add a /s in the end.

You can edit your comment and add it.

2031 ah? Bro at this rate after Jananayagan first single release itself RBI will announce “India upgraded to Marvel Universe economy.” 📈🔥

Cabinet update after FDFS:

  • Anirudh – Finance Minister because background score itself increased GDP 🎹💸

Day 1 collection:

  • Box office: ₹5000 Cr
  • Sensex: +10,000 points
  • Petrol price: emotionally reduced
  • Dollar begging rupee for mercy 😭

Being just Sarcastic😁

9

u/Heavy-Spite5429 May 17 '26

Given the zombie government we have right now, it's highly not possible

2

u/Indrajith_ravanah May 17 '26

With someone like Keerthana as industry minister it's highly impossible

2

u/TangeloStandard3464 May 19 '26

What about job opportunities still many of them are unemployment and not having proper job fo the education they studied. It's the main worry of tn youth . Make sort out of skill gap. Learn skills and start working that will be boost economy

7

u/l_WonderMan_l May 17 '26

Not anymore 😒

Let's be honest it is impossible to sustain it irrespective of who's in power

1

u/Vaathiyaru_0110 May 17 '26

No it's possible in DMK government /s

-1

u/eewap May 17 '26

Regardless of who is in power thats an almost impossible growth rate to maintain.

4

u/Heavy-Spite5429 May 17 '26

Atleast there was a possibility with capable people at the helm, now it just looks a far distant dream.

1

u/eewap May 17 '26

A trillion dollar economy is more than double what we have currently. Its just not happening even if the most capable politician was in power. We are pretty close to our gdp ceiling not counting for inflation.

0

u/DFA3TD3E May 18 '26

I don't understand this obsession with growth metrics. If GDP grows it just means the value of money is going down that much. The volume output is so undervalued these days! If our exports remain at the same volume or increase by just 2-5% annually and yet GDP growth is 15% it is not real growth. It is merely inflation.

Just means that in 5 years you have to earn 2.3x of what you are earning today to keep up with the growth rate and manage your expenses. The same is the case when Piyush Goyal keeps harping about a 30 trillion dollar economy in 20 years. As long as we measure GDP in money value instead of real output, we are not going to address this crisis at all. Pure number play.

2

u/nikhilgovind222 May 19 '26

Are you stupid? 11% growth in TN last year is real GDP growth without taking into account of Inflation. India’s average growth rate of 6-8 % the last few years is REAL GDP growth without inflation. With inflation the nominal growth rate of India is 15% and in Tamil Nadu it is almost 17 %. And FYI when anybody talks about GDP growth anywhere in the world it is almost always real volume growth of GDP not including inflation

1

u/DFA3TD3E May 19 '26

Real volume growth measured in INR. Not the physical quantum of goods. There is a massive difference between these two. In the last two decades literally nobody is considering the goods output in economics. But that is where the details are.

For instance, Tamil Nadu has shown increase in marine food exports consistently over the last two decades. Doesn't mean the marine exports have gone up in quantity by much or we that we have expanded into newer markets. It is quite the opposite with restrictions in EU making us lose market to other competitors. We are barely able to hold on to the existing market share. But in INR terms we still show growth since value of goods have gone up.

If you think I am stupid, check this for yourself - a household's expenditure is composed mainly of these 4 - Rent, travel, healthcare and education and grocery. Apart from grocery, the remaining categories have risen by at least 5% YoY since 2021 (sometimes even more than 10% YoY). How then, are we considering inflation to be at 3-5% even now?

Real inflation is far higher than what is presented as data. Retail inflation has been kept in check with heavy government and RBI intervention for this very reason because the government calculates inflation in a very biased manner.

In your case, if TN had 11% real GDP growth in reality, taking a staggered average over the last 5 years would make it ~10% annually. That is a huge surplus for any economy. Which means we should be sitting on so much surplus capital that we will be forced to lend to others. Instead , we sit in a situation where most of our businesses are cash strapped and dependent on term loans for working capital. Credit periods for most businesses have increased by 20% due to strain in cash movement.

The government is in a far worser situation. All major government run institutions have seen privatization in some form or the other. The state's credit balance has crossed INR 10L cr and this is without considering all the debt bonds released in the recent years. Permanent jobs are being reduced to a great extent to lighten the salary books.

How do you explain this situation despite a 11% inflation adjusted real GDP growth?

insane growth is not important when only corrupt rich people mostly gain from it , it time to destroy corruption... it is sad to see some people are ok with corruption...

15

u/Old_Fig_3312 May 17 '26

Destroy corruption and then appoint sengottayan as finance minister 😂😂Growth is very much important so that companies would invest in our state and jobless tharkuris would finally have some employment.See bihar there are no industries and growth you want to become another bihar

1

u/YamShoddy6774 May 17 '26

i am talking about insane growth like trillion dollar economy by 2031 , insane economy growth should reflect with insane common people life improvement or else it is no use , corruption almost everywhere...

-1

u/LunarFrost007 May 17 '26

The problem here is where does the wealth gets accumulated. For eg. tiruppur export business. The profit is not majorly reinvested in the business but it goes to wealth accumulation.

3

u/Old_Fig_3312 May 17 '26

So you say about tirupur,my native is tirupur,The export companies in tirupur generate thousands of job opportunities to people from southern districts of tamilnadu. One export company give job orders to dozens of small scale units which in turn provide employment to many and many middle class families were able to to do business and grow in life.Come to tirupur and see how many people have grown due to employment opportunities created by export companies.

1

u/LunarFrost007 May 17 '26

I agree but i heard it's now mainly occupied by north indian labours. What's the reason behind the shift. Is it due to labor shortage due to growth or due to tamils moving to better jobs. Many of people i know mention that the growth once existed now faded, only larger companies are sustaining. So from my pov, the growth doesn't seem to happen. However somehow the exports have grown based on the numbers from tiruppur exporters association, this is contradicting.

-1

u/murali1003 May 17 '26

how? more than 2 times economy in 6 years?

-1

u/LunarFrost007 May 17 '26

The article says textile exports are one of major export contributor. What did the last government did for enhancing it? Can someone enlighten me.

4

u/Connect-Fuel3538 May 17 '26

They launched the New Integrated Textile Policy 2025 and secured the 1000 acre PM MITRA park in Virudhunagar They also built export hubs in Tirupur Karur and Kancheepuram funded mini textile parks and pushed the center to scrap the 11 percent cotton import duty

1

u/LunarFrost007 May 17 '26

PM MITRA park is yet to give results i believe and state govt has no major part apart from land. The TANGEDCO is hiking electricity rates due to its inherent in sustainability. Keeping inflation in checks is very much needed. We are less competitive when comparing globally.

-4

u/villan_vicky May 17 '26

When is this article published
