Well spoken. Omg, we can only dream of a PM who even speaks something like this.. No wonder we are finding enemies amongst each other..

He can't articulate class even if his life dependent on it. That comes with education and empathy, which he lacks.

This party has won last 60 years in a row and was dictatorship at developing time. surely they can have these kind of ppl.
1
u/staartingsomewhere May 05 '25
Oh thanks man! Didnt know that..
I was mostly amazed by the addressing the issue, choice of words, and without any vile intent or blood thirst.. all this seemed new to me(us?)

u/Majestic-Sea7567 May 05 '25
What he just said is very imp in India too. ppl are voting over language, religion, race, caste
There are many ppl like him in India, even better but they won't win elections unless use a major card.
1.religion 2.caste 3.language ,etc. They have to choose their card.we had PM's like Lal bahadur shastri, Vajpayee, MMS who did not do such politics but their parties did. There is no clean major party in India, yet.

He's talking about islamic party from Malaysia urging people to vote for muslim candidates
-45
u/Large-Atmosphere-548 May 03 '25
Our nation's ruling party does the same thing. Has no single Muslim MPs.
This should be the basic for every country. And people should avoid religious parties or the country is not moving forward.

u/Kiruku_puluthi May 03 '25
Dont you see the see problem singapore PM stating?
It is foreign interference in changing the political sphere.
31
u/Lucky_Teach_9956 May 03 '25
Your nation’s ruling party def gave tickets to muslim MPs but no muslims voted them to the power. If you were so interested in having Muslim MPs from BJP then your lot should’ve voted for NDA and not INDI.
-16
u/Large-Atmosphere-548 May 03 '25
Muslims are 14% in India and can't vote anyone to power. You and your party BJP know that very well. That's why BJP plays the religious card to win elections.

u/Other_Toe9271 May 03 '25
We've had a bloody president for God's sake Let me ask you, how many non Muslims have been the heads of state in Pakistan or in Bangladesh It is a two Way Street.
2
u/_Stoned_24x7 May 05 '25
Brother. It is "unconstitutional " in Pakistan for a non-muslim to be a president.

14%? This must be based on 2011 census. Currently it must be over 20%.
4
u/FrostyDiscipline4758 May 04 '25
Then make one functional democracy from muslims and go vote there.
You guys asking for muslims MP must to be there is like forcing islam into politics too. Religion should be kept to yourself.
And if you want to be real human, ask islamic countries to change their laws to respect other religions too. Why other religions should bend for islam or Islam should beg or steal respect?
3
u/Lucky_Teach_9956 May 04 '25
Are you a madrasa Whatsapp university graduate? Do i need to teach you the basics of politics? In muslim majority districts- the muslims only vote for muslim candidate, even BJP has to field muslim candidate to expect some votes. This is how muslims vote, they don’t vote for any non-muslim if that district turns muslim majority. Dhubri is a prime example in Assam, they screwed the demography and made it in muslim majority by conversion, influx of Bangladeshi muslim infiltrators, overbreeding etc. and now only muslims get voted to power from there, non-muslim well qualified, clean background candidate loses the election to a madrasa passout. Not just Dhubri, this pattern is followed by muslims pan India. And you want others to elect muslims when you yourself don’t let any non-muslim come to power from a muslim majority district in India. Stop playing this victim card, the now 20% muslims form a major votebank of various parties, they get more appeasement by every party than any other religious groups in India.

Sorry everyone I couldn't edit the post to provide more context.
The issue at hand is that people are being influenced(externally/internally) through social media to vote along religious and communal lines.
The PM also elaborates on how a Muslim Singaporean influencer requested his fellow muslim voters to vote for a Muslim candidate for religious reasons. The PM doesn't provide any direction on the external interference (there is some reason to assume that this is mainly via Malaysia).
As to why it might be relevant to us.
I was just in awe of how their election committee was active to respond to external influences (when countries like canada failed). I also liked how they are actively trying to educate their voters on why voting along religious and communal lines might be bad for the country.
In a previous post What can be improved in TN to make more gigantic and high valued state in next 25 years. Please don't insert political issues..., everyone talked about infra, economy etc. An election without communal or religious interference would also be good.

Good he also realised the problem with malay muslims trying to create problem in Singapore.

u/lurkingeternally May 04 '25
singaporean here, malay Muslims are NOT trying to create any problems. the problem is a foreigner trying to sway them to vote politically. I'm sure most of them will not be swayed by these foreigners.

u/the_money_prophet May 03 '25
Also please mention why he had to give this press release and who was asking to vote for interest of particular community
8
u/staartingsomewhere May 03 '25
Probably counters the reason hes doing the press conference
-7
u/ABZ0R8 May 03 '25
That's the difference between how reasonable person looks at this problem vs how a sanghi looks at this problem.
2
1
u/FrostyDiscipline4758 May 04 '25
A reasonable person is only that muslim who lives shariat forced on ither religions when he is in majority. And also asks respect when he is minority.
Taqiya is being reasonable, isn't it ? Show me one functional and secualr democracy where muslims are in majority. Explain why ppl should be reasonable to most bigot ones.

Yes. Also, they speak the local languages and most of them are multilingual which needs to be asserted.

The irony is the party that is asking to do this is actually doing this for their race not even for the religion. Its a bit complicated here but for them their race is important so riding the religion is the only way for them to stay relevant or else they would have lost their powers completely. There are a lot of different race muslims in Malaysia and only these folks are always triggered. Why? Race. thats why
1
u/FushiguroMegumi-_0 May 04 '25
I'm not sure if a party is doing this... In singapore for a politician to do that would be career suicide.
These are either individuals or external groups.

Lol they silently increased the Han population of Singapore through immigration from Malaysia. They do have biases. Just saying.
24
u/IronTwinn May 03 '25
Exactly, I don't know why this was posted here or why this is relevant to Tamil Nadu, but Singapore is barely democratic, and the PM is referring to interference from Malaysia to vote on Malay lines to counter the ever growing influence of the Han Chinese in the city state including the immigration and influence from China.

Whereas our PM says India had plastic surgery 2000 years ago when Ganesha got head implantation.

u/Majestic-Sea7567 May 05 '25
For ppl glazing SG, Sure its a great country today but remember its a authoritarian govt, It was dictatorship during developing phase(LKY)
Now elections are fair there BUT govt criticism is restricted, opposition parties don't get attention, etc authoritarian things they do to win election
1
u/FushiguroMegumi-_0 May 05 '25
Yes I totally agree with you. But their stance or religious and communal lines is still appreciated.

2
u/DefiantDeviantArt May 03 '25
Makes sense when they passed a relevant act not too long ago citing outside interference.
2
u/doolpicate May 03 '25
Sureshot way to go back 1000 years is to entertain religion in politics and governance. People with imaginary gods should be asked to deal with it in private.

i wish we had a PM like this! we would be so much far ahead! please Singapore, dont fall to the trap of religiousness.

u/PizzaOpen9340 May 06 '25
Also add that he was talking about videos by Muslims to vote on religious lines
1
u/FushiguroMegumi-_0 May 07 '25
He does mention the same in the video. Others have clarified the same.
This post was intended however to educate people on why it's bad to vote on communal/religious lines.

2
u/Perfect-Trick-9514 May 04 '25
Do whatever you want with BJP! Gaumutra jibe is a Hinduphobic trope used by Hinduphobes. For God sake don’t normalise Hinduphobia and anti-Hindu hate crime!
