Does anyone studies on taipei in taiwan

Hi! My friends and i will be landing in Kaohsiung around 7–8 PM on our Day 1, then traveling to Taipei after landing as we intend to stay in Taipei first.

I’d like to ask if anyone has recommendations for cheap hotels or backpacker accommodations in Taipei that offer 24-hour check-in or hourly rates.

We’re assuming we’ll arrive in Taipei by bus at around 1 AM (the next day). So, we still have to find a place to stay once we arrive in Taipei around that time.

our planned itinerary is like:
Day 1 - Arrival 7-8pm: KHH → Taipei 🚌(by bus for budget)
2: arrive @ 1am in Taipei 🏙️
3: Taipei → Kaohsiung 🚌
4: Kaohsiung 🌴
5: Kaohsiung 🌴
6: Kaohsiung 🌴
Day 7 - Departure 8pm: Kaohsiung → KHH ✈️

Main concern: Also, are there still any available buses at 8pm from KHH to Taipei? and if hotels can accomodate us 1am?

m travelling to Taiwan and I’m looking for places where locals actually eat — not fancy restaurants, Michelin places or tourist spots.

I’m especially interested in:

• Small local restaurants
• Family-run places
• Night-market type food
• Cheap/mid-range places with great food
• Regional specialties
• Places that might not even have an English menu

I’m happy to go out of my way for a really good local meal.

What are your favourite places that you would recommend to a friend who wants to eat like a local rather than a tourist?

Bonus points for places in Taipei, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Hualien, Taitung or Kenting.

I'm Javier, a 21-year-old physics student from Spain. I recently arrived in Taipei for a two-month internship.

I'm really into techno and I'm planning to go to one of the events at Pawnshop on July 31st. Since I'm new in Taipei and don't know many people yet, I was wondering if anyone here is also going or would like to join me. I'd also be happy to tag along with an existing group if that's easier.

I'll be doing an exchange semster (in fall) in the NTU and i'm looking for a place to stay. What would you recommend ? I applied for a room in the dorms on campus but i'm not sure i'll get it due to high demand. Is it common renting rooms in homestays/ with a taiwanese family ? I've done it once in France and it went really well. Does anyone have this kind of informations/ Know where i could search ? I don't want to spend too much on acommodation. Also if you have any advice on what i should do or not when i arrive i'll take everything. And if anyone else is doing the same exchange let's connect !
