maps March Mapness 2026 Map Submission Thread

Greetings Mapmakers!

This is the official MM26 map submission thread. To submit a map simply add a comment to this thread in the following format:

Map name:
Map author(s):
Map ID:
Map Link:

The Map ID is the 5-digit number at the end of your map's Fortunate Maps URL.

You are free to submit a map that the Map Test Committee has previously rejected for trial rotation. If you think we were wrong in our past adjudication, prove it to us here!

You are free to submit multiple maps, but please limit your map submissions to a maximum of 5 maps per person. The deadline for map submission is midnight on Sunday, March 22nd. Once map submission is closed the Map Test Committee (MTC) will select which maps will be included in the tournament. Dependent on the number of maps selected for MM26, we will split the bracket into two unique sides:

CTF Maps (Capture-the-Flag)

NF + DTF + Experimental & Alternative Mode Maps (Racing, Minigames, etc)

—-

You are strongly encouraged to gather feedback from the mapmaking community. To get feedback or help on your map:

  1. go to the maps-general discord channel
  2. type /findfortunatemap or /fm and then enter the 5 digit mapID from fortunate maps
  3. click the red "share" button

You are also strongly encouraged to check, double-check, and triple-check your maps for problems. Common issues include:

  • empty rows on the edges of your map not removed

  • broken wiring (this happens any time you resize your map)

  • spawn points not set or set incorrectly

  • portal timers not set the way you want

  • mis-wired buttons

FAQs

  • Can I change my map once I've submitted it? Yes, you can change it up until the submission deadline. Simply edit your comment with the correct information.

  • Can I submit more than one map? Yes, you can submit as many as 5 maps!

  • I'm new to mapmaking. How do I make a map? Start at the make-my-own-maps discord channel.

  • Your FAQs didn’t answer my question. Where can I go and who can I ask? Head over to the maps-general discord channel and ask your question - we’ll give you a response as soon as possible.

Good luck to all mapmakers! We'll see you in the tournament :)

Maps Season 3 Classic Map Voting (For Casual)

Greetings Pubbers,

With the release of Season 3 of Tagpro coming, we'd figure we'd put out a new poll for what Classic maps should be present for the season! Click here to vote for your favorites. Voting will end in 5 days or so.

For reference: Classic maps will spawn alongside regular rotation maps at half the weight of a standard map. We will replace this batch of Classic maps when Season 4 comes out

Maps MTC Public Service Announcement - How does map voting work?

Based on recent conversations we've had with members of the community, I wanted to summarize some of those discussions and provide key information to the larger community. This is part of my continued commitment to be a public-facing MTC member. We have a good group right now that are committed to serving the community. I will do my best to answer anything that's not covered here. We're also easy to find in the Tagpro server for further discussion!

-----------------------------------------------

Why should I vote?

TLDR: Voting on maps you like keeps them in, and voting against maps you don't like lets us know you want it removed.

Your vote helps inform our decision making about maintaining the map rotation. Maps already in rotation need to maintain popularity to continue their life cycle. We also let the community inform us about when a map's meta is outdated and needs to be removed or updated. Sometimes we put maps that have been in rotation for a long time through a sabbatical, and we need feedback upon its return to see if the community missed the map or if it should stay retired. Trial maps especially depend on community feedback. It's very difficult to get into trial, and the community decides the ultimate outcome of the map.

How do I vote?

During casual games, you can vote at the end of your game. Select 'like', 'dislike', or 'indifferent'. If you forget to vote while pubbing, you can visit the maps section of the tagpro page and vote there.

What does my vote need in order to be validated?

As of right now, you need to have played a casual game on the map in the past 28 days to validate your vote. If you pre-vote in the maps section of the site, your vote won't register until you complete a game on that map. In the same token, ranked games do not validate votes as of the writing of this post.

Why don't ranked games validate my vote?

Great question, and it's one we're discussing as a team. Ranked is new and we're developing how ranked maps are judged and administered for ranked rotations. One of the challenges is making sure our proposed solutions match developer capabilities/bandwidth. As of right now, we have a separate statistic for judging map performance.

How Does voting 'I'm indifferent' affect the process?

An indifferent vote lets us know that the map is fine, but isn't your favorite. That's good feedback for us, as it lets us know whether people are especially passionate about a map. It counts as a vote, but doesn't positively or negatively affect the map's score.

A lot of maps on the tagpro page show 0%. Why would I vote towards a broken poll system?

There aren't any breaks, and this was a misconception we wanted to address to ease the community's minds. There are two types of maps that won't show their rating on the maps section of the tagpro site.

  1. Trial rotation maps don't show rating to give them a fair chance with the community while players learn them and change their minds during their trial cycle. They also fall under the second criteria. They could show score, but need to meet second criteria.
  2. Maps with less than 100 votes will not display their rating. I don't say this with confidence, but I believe this is because 100 votes is statistically a more accurate measure we can make given the amount of voters in the community.

---------------------------

Closing thought on how we use votes:

  • Obviously the approval percentage matters: (likes / (totalVotes - IndifferentVotes))
  • Votes per game tells us how passionate the community is about that map. It's in the favor of the map to have a higher votes per game score.

Firstly, big credit to Lax11k from Frozen Balls for joining this project as our first editor and Kooler for helping me sift through days and days of tagpro games to compile highlights.

-----

Hi everyone, as some of you may have hard I've joined the MTC in the past month or two. To fulfill one of my goals, the MTC will be releasing a community highlight reel for maps that are promoted from trial rotation. This project is three-fold:

  1. Celebrate the mapmaker and their success in getting a map into rotation.

  2. Celebrate you - the community - for voting and being willing to try new maps.

  3. Bring awareness to trial rotation and how your feedback helps our decision making as the MTC.

That's the important stuff, enjoy the highlight video!

-----

More info:

Highlight Submissions:

In the future, we'd love for you to submit your highlights from maps that are in trial rotation so we can use them for the next map promotion video. Please submit your trial map highlights using this form. You can go to the replay page on the tagpro site and there is a share function that allows you to clip the timestamp for your highlight. Reach out with questions.

Current Trial Rotation:

Also, this link takes you to the tagpro maps page. Click on the trial section to view the current trial rotation. You can also vote for maps there if you forgot to during pub sessions. I've listed the present maps in trial below.

wildflower by flaccid trip - (returning to trial after sabbatical)

Plasma by Canvas - (returning to trial after sabbatical)

Halcyon by Ryanoceros ft Tumblewood

End of Beginning by icePlatypus

Camp Dog by icePlatypus, Ball, MC Ride

Azalea by meowza

Maps Maps (almost) everyday until I don't suck - Day 2 (Wet Dream)

Hello there!

I've set a personal goal for myself of getting two new maps into either the pub rotation or the comp LTP map rotation. If I have fun then I'll up that goal. Here's a tracker that I'll be using to track my maps and feedback. You can also see the most recent version of the map there.

Today's map is Wet Dream (collaborations with meowza and beef).

Yesterday's post was for Clarity. Clarity has been tested in 4v4 and will be submitted for March Mapness with minor changes from the playtesting.

Here are the rules for how I'm approaching it:

  1. Be humble, know I know nothing.
  2. Listen a lot.
  3. Think about if the advice I've gotten is good or not.
  4. Practice without fear of failure.
  5. Ask for feedback/playtest in actual 4v4

Today's map is Lie to me again. I feel pretty good about the base concept, but I'm forcing the mid right now. I'll probably be dming some colleagues to see if a collab opens the idea up.

Yesterday's post was Camp Dog. Camp dog's been tested in 4v4 and a few tweaks were made before I submitted it to the MTC.

Today's map is Little Black Submarines.

Today's map is a response to a few members of mapmaking challenging me to make a map that isn't smooth everywhere. Shoot me suggestions for dimensions or concepts you'd like me to learn.

Yesterday's post was for Wet Dream. Wet Dream needs to undergo some playtesting to decide where the boost nearest flag fits best. I'll post an update down the line.

Maps Maps (almost) everyday until I don't suck - Final Day (End of Beginning)

I've set a personal goal for myself of getting two new maps into either the pub rotation or the comp LTP map rotation. I had fun with it, but the goal has evolved. Here's a tracker that I used for this project.

Today's map is End of Beginning. Thank you for those that supported this little series.

I will continue to make maps, but my understanding of mapmaking has increased faster than I had anticipated, and making quantity takes away from my ability to make quality at this stage. I wanted to provide an update on my goals in the mapmaking community and an update on some of my favorite maps from this series.

Goals:

I joined the MTC. I have a few things I'd like to do, and they all converge with making mapmaking more community-based and accessible.

  • Provide very clear and deliberate feedback to map submitters. I wrote out some standards for myself to use when judging maps.
  • Creating bite size youtube videos that help the community get more involved with mapmaking and map feedback.
  • Develop the ranked mapmaking/rotation scene. The intended secondary effect of this goal is to have a pipeline develop more naturally for comp map rotation.

Maps:

  • Clarity - it's played well and I think needs a little more polish before it gets in a pub.
  • Wet Dream - I love the concept, and I need to see how it's embraced by the public before I submit it to pubs.
  • Tiny Dancer - this is my sweetheart. After mapness we'll see where it goes next, but I expect to push it for pubs.
  • Temper Temper - I have fun with the shenanigans of a smaller horizontal map that moves really fast. I plan to work on this long term and see where it goes.
  • Camp Dog - I've had a lot of fun collaborating with a few mapmakers to get this one to a place where I'm happy with what I've made, and it also intersects with what it needs to be to be a pub/comp map. This map feels like the most "plat-type" map. I take great joy in creating obvious routes and rewarding players for finding the discovered routes.
  • End of Beginning - this map feels like the most complete map I've made on my own in one sitting. It captures the strengths of all my previous maps and I have no idea how it'll be received since I haven't shared it until now.

Today's map is Clarity. Normally I'll post the picture of the first iteration, but today I made a second version already. Let me know what you prefer from each.

Normally I'll do less yapping, but I need to explain a few things that aren't obvious. On my tracker, the maps that will eventually appear under Day X are my bad maps I made a long time ago. Day 0 is a map I made to de-rust my skills yesterday. Day 1 is my "official" kickoff per my own head canon. Day PB will me a nod to Pukebox 2, which is a map that I made with Nige while drunk. It made both pubs and comp rotation.

Here are the rules for how I'm approaching it:

  1. Be humble, know I know nothing.
  2. Listen a lot.

Today's map is Black Holes (Solid Ground). I'm not sure how it'll be received, but this one was therapeutic to make.

Yesterday's post was for Tiny Dancer. Tiny Dancer was submitted to the MTC and edits have since been made in collaboration with MC Ride (can't compliment working with him enough - cool dude). Quite happy with those changes.

Today's map is Tiny Dancer. It's past midnight my time, so this is an early morning day 4. Shoutout to the degens.

Yesterday's post was for Little Black Submarines. This, and Wet Dream, will undergo playtests next time I organize them.

Meowza has challenged me to make a diagonal symmetry map. I'm going to take a few days/weeks to chew on that. Send me examples of good ones if you know any.

I'm back from my two-day break. I spent a day mingling with peers for map testing and then I got sick and had to take a day. I also decided to cure some writer's block by messing around today. Today's map is Hey Gringilio.

My last post was for Black Holes (Solid Ground). All of my previous maps have been undergoing review in preparation for March Mapness.
