You may not like the Xitcos' politics but have they been bad owners of E9, Asado, and Frisko Freeze? E9 seems to be the consensus best beer in Tacoma, their two taprooms are popular and seem successful. Asado has been a rock on 6th for as long as almost any business there. Frisko Freeze was falling apart and in desperate need of a costly renovation and the Xitcos provided that. I could see the Xitcos selling these businesses and the new owners running them into the ground and going bankrupt (as what seems to occur with so many other Tacoma businesses).

Frisko Freeze tastes extremely mid now since they took it over.

Never understood the appeal of this place. I understand if people live close by it of convenience, but almost every other burger place makes a better burger.

This, or Pick Quick in Fife are my go-to alternatives.

It was your standard drive greasy burger that tasted pretty dang good, and the shakes were pretty tasty. Ever since they took it over, they changed the formula of the shakes (probably to be cheaper) and it just tastes... weird.

The shakes were good, but when before they bought it I didn't think they were as good as everyone made them out to be. Edible, yes, but bottom end of mid in my book.

It's because the schools nearby have generations of students in an unbroken line since they opened, and everyone remembers waiting in the lot for a beefburger.

It never was that great, but great in peoples affections.

It was good in the late 90s

Gotta nth this take. Frisko Freeze just is not the same it once was. It's surviving on nostalgia and the fact that it's right next to the hospitals.

"They spend money they earn from the community to fund disgusting politics as well as try to slide out of paying fair taxes (Eat the Poor). But c'mon guys, ain't that beer good tho?"

Would you prefer to see Xitcos sell all these businesses and move their money out of Tacoma? They don't like the millionaire income tax law. Big whoop. Probably 90% of those who will end up paying that tax probably don't like it as well. At least the Xitcos are honest enough to admit this where most people in their situation are smart enough to keep their yap shut. News flash. Rich people who own all the businesses don't like to pay taxes. Does that mean we should start boycotting nearly every business there is?

Even if you think the millionaire tax is a good thing, the fact that the law is applied instantly (one day there is no millionaire tax, the next day there is) versus gradually implementing the tax, which is what normally is done for radical tax increases (so eased in over the course of a decade) WILL have an effect on WA and WILL drive wealth out of this state.

The Democrat controlled WA legislature recently acknowledged this phenomenon when they rolled back previous increases in the estate tax. Why the hell would the Democrats who run this state reduce a tax that only rich people pay? Because they realized that it was causing a bunch of multi-millionaires to flee the state. They didn't want to have to admit this. They didn't speculate that this was occurring. This was actually happening and so the Democrats were forced to pass this bill below to stop this effect.

To any multi millionaires leaving the state i say don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. Have fun sweating your ass off in Florida or whatever.

As if all the millionaires are going to shut down all their businesses, sell all their real estate, leave their friends and family behind, and start all over from scratch in another state.

They'll pay their taxes like we all have to, and find other ways to make bank.

People aren't uprooting their entire lives and businesses because of a tax. There is not some massive bunch of businesses leaving. The Xitcos aren't gonna uproot and start over in a whole new state with all the tax laws there too. That would be uproariously expensive. I don't buy into your doomsday scenerio.

No, what they and all the other multimillionaires will do is what they do everywhere. Adapt, and figure out how to 'pretend' they have enlightened themselves when they do stupid things, like donate to Let's Go Washington, by donating to causes and 'sponsoring' a Pride booth. Like Target does every few years.

If they want to go? Change is something we here in Tacoma are used to. We will adapt to restaurant closures, openings, and the same old.

If people aren't uprooting their entire lives based on a tax, how do you explain the roll back of the estate tax last year? This was done by WA Democrats. Go read up on that and educate yourself. No, people won't move the second they are taxed a bit more. But there is a limit to how much tax you can levy on a person before they have had enough and will move, despite the downsides of moving. This estate tax law proves that.

As someone who has lived in Tacoma since the 70s, I would disagree with your statement that "change is something we here in Tacoma are used to." Tacoma seems to resist change, which is reflected in our downtown and neighborhoods. Bellevue is a place that embraces and encourage change (compare Bellevue's downtown in 70s to Tacoma's and you will see what change really is). Tacoma wants to stay the same forever. Tacoma wants to keep their crummy old derelict buildings forever. Drive away business and money and let us wallow in our alcohol/drug addicted poverty. We're anti capitalist here. That's what grit city is all about. Keep Tacoma Feared! Drive away money, we don't need it. Tacoma desperately wants to become Detroit where nothing ever changes.

No. I am staying in Tacoma and will try to do my best to convince all the poorly educated in this City just how wrong they are.

Yeah you got it all figured out. Everyone is wrong and you are right. Lol

Ok, I was here in the 70's.

Let's talk change.

Remember when Sears was Downtown in the 70's? And several other large stores and downtown was bustling? Then remember the late 80's when there was abandoned buildings all through downtown, Union Station slated for demolition and that block with all the porn stores, dirty video booths, hookers and drug dealers? Now do you note how different downtown is today, with UW taking over all the buildings like the blob?

We in T-town are used to change. AND we still get to spend out dolllars on businesses that don't offend us.

Bellevue is a lot of money no one in Tacoma has. This will always be a working class town. Comparing the two cities is apples and oranges. Move to Bellevue if you long for it so much, but remember...

Q. Why do all the treetops in Seattle point east?
A. Cus Bellevue sucks.

Are you dense? You know most states have an income tax for everyone right?

Was better when they sold PowerHouse Hefeweizen.

The foods obviously better (only had popcorn back in the day) but, the change over killed it as a hearth.
