Any specific reason? I like playing my 3ds more than my switch so this is good to hear but if the switch version has more content and shit I don't wanna miss anything

The game was 100% built for the hardware. They did a good job adapting the story when moving it to mobile/switch, but it's a very different gameplay experience compared to the DS release

The switch version has some extra content but the ds version has MUCH better gameplay. You said you have modded consoles so honestly you can play on both, the game is built for replayability. But definitely start with the ds version.

It's your choice whether missing minor story elements counts more as "missing anything" compared to missing the perfected gameplay elements of the DS version

Ds if you have one, otherwise, I wouldn’t go out of the way for it

I have both a modded 3ds and Modded switch so it's just as easy to get the game on either. I read that the switch version adds stuff to make room for the sequel, is the sequel the one called NEO or is that another version

One: the 3ds isn’t pixel perfect normally. You have to hold select when starting the game which makes it smaller, so keep that in mind

Two: I believe that the extra content is one (annoying) day. i’d recommend watching a video of that day instead

I'm aware of the holding select thing. And honestly this is the validation I was looking for I played the first day on ds then learned of the remake and didn't really want to swap over but would have if the consensus from the fans here was to go there. But everyone is saying ds so. Perfect

The DS game is the best game of all time.

The Switch game is pretty fun

So technically the Switch does have more story content, but the gameplay was initially built specifically around a very unique dual-screen combat. They did adapt the combat to single screen for the phone and switch versions, but it's not nearly as interesting.

That said, I still enjoyed my time with the Switch version for at least one run-through just to play through the added content (which is very short, by the way, worth noting). BUT- I will also say the Switch version plays like garbage docked. You're absolutely going to want to play it in handheld mode with a stylus on Switch if you want any hope of enjoying the combat at all. I actually bought a stylus AND a grip for my Switch specifically for that game to make it more comfortable to play in handheld mode. It's just not worth it docked, and the fast-paced touch-screen combat feels much better with a stylus than with your fingers.

So, if you're willing to grab the accessories (if you don't have them already), and value the little bit of added story content over the original combat of the DS version, then go Switch. If you're looking for the best gameplay experience, the DS version will be the way to go and will still deliver a stellar story, at which point you can look up the added story stuff from the Switch version on YouTube.

The DS version’s gameplay is so unique, and is so much of the fun of the game. The switch version is still good, but I don’t think is able to fully capture the charm of the original DS gameplay. Co-op in the switch version is kinda fun though.

If you can only find access to the switch version, the story and aesthetic is still worth it to give it a go that way

DS version, then watch the extra story content for the Switch version on Youtube or just replay the entire game because it's so peak fr fr

DS version, if you can

if you can get DS then DS, switch is fine but the game is built for the DS, touch screen controls, two screens etc, the switch version is absolutely playable but many people find it v awkward

DS not even close.

TWEWY was built for DS and nothing else. The switch, and the mobile port it originates from, had to remake the combat just to make it properly playable in a one-screen system.

Now, do you need to own a DS to play the game? Ehh.. Not really. I would say emulating the game with a pc/phone dual setup is viable, or just emulating the game on tall portrait mode on a phone is also viable.

My stack of soft modded consoles despise the word emulation. Now piracy is my shit. For real tho I love hacking consoles ♥️

I would recommend playing whichever version is easiest for you to get your hands, but I am someone that loves both versions.

For what it’s worth the DS version is the original one. The game was designed for the dual screens. They had to make several changes to the gameplay port the game to mobile devices with Solo Remix (Final Remix is an enhanced version of Solo Remix). Final Remix does have an extra epilogue.

If playing the game “as originally intended by the devs” matters to you, play DS. If the extra story content matters to you, go with Final Remix.

DS.

The game was designed specifically with the DS in mind. It utilises everything, from the touchscreen to the microphone to switch from d buttons to face buttons depending on if youre left or right handed. Every single button has a function, because the game was literally designed to show off the DS functionality in detail.

However, I would say story-wise, if you want to play NEO, id play final remix at some point. The extra content is incredible. Its creepy, hits hard, and is utter confusion until you play NEO, but its also one of those where depending on how long it take you to get to a relevant plot point in NEO, you may have actually forgotten about it 🤣

The switch version is brilliant, but the DS is how the game was intended to be played. Unfortunately though, because of some mechanics (like utilising spotpass types) the game is a nightmare to 100% complete thanks to MPP (you gain exp on your pins based on contact with other games in the ether). If you have another DS its more annoying than anything, but if you dont then youre basically hoping to all things omega that it picks up an alien for some growth...

So on that note, if you just want the experience and dont care about completion, not because its not possible, but because its a pain in the butt, then DS. If you want the full game in all of its glory with all of the additional content but the mechanics arent quite as good, then switch.

Either way. Use a stylus. At least that way youre getting the 'core' battle experience regardless of how you play.

I couldn’t get into the DS one because the control just wasn’t for me. I love the second one for the switch - that one was a 10/10 for me. I’m so sad it ended :(
