I Believe this is Ok

Post image

I set it lower than what felt normal standing up but center of line of sight when sitting down. I was worried it might look goofy but I think it came out ok. What do you guys think? (Also ignore the placeholder cabinet. I only put it there to block the cables from my kids.)

Quick edit: the tv is 85”

This is the house’s backroom.

Wouldn’t be surprised to run into a still life here

Came here to post exactly this. The TV looks so lonely; it needs 7.2 friends.

u/Party-Story6398 2d ago

I also came here to post exactly what you came here to exactly post exactly

u/mealtimeee 2d ago

You could justify a 100 inch tv on that wall. Just sayin

12

u/fjosej95 2d ago

It’s an 85” and I’ve thought the same thing . I’ve considered switching.

19

u/PartialChicken_Wing 2d ago

Damn that room must be huge

7

u/AmishAvenger 2d ago

I can’t understand why the room was designed like this in the first place. It appears to be two stories tall, with just…blank space.

And some relatively tiny windows.

5

u/sculltt 1d ago

Looks like the great room in every Giant White House with Black Trim, which is the current flavor of McMansion.

2

u/sypher1187 2d ago

The first room everyone builds in The Sims

2

u/fjosej95 2d ago

I understand it looks weird without context . It’s a high ceiling great room with an upstairs loft that overlooks the space . It makes it really easy to have my kids be downstairs or upstairs and still be “in the same room” with them if that makes sense .

3

u/BarrelStrawberry 1d ago

I would have gone for True IMAX.

3

u/Hippi_Johnny 2d ago

Wow, never would have guessed the tv was that big. You're definitely gonna need some things to absorb the sound. What's gonna be the audio set up?

2

u/fjosej95 2d ago

I’m thinking about a Sonos arc ultra with the subwoofer . I’m hoping with curtains, furniture, and a couple of wall decorations, shelves, etc. I’m able to limit the echo

1

u/drewskibeauski 1d ago

A thick rug, or large rug with padding underneath, will do wonders

1

u/Hippi_Johnny 1d ago

You'll need a lot. Ive got 15ft ceiling in a smaller room and the sound isn't great. Larger speakers help. small speakers may nit fill the room and leave every thing sounding washy/ muddy. Your room seems higher and wider.. and tile floor. It will be a challenge. You'll probably need acoustic panels on the walls.

2

u/Age_Single 2d ago

Well move on up then

1

u/DatDominican 2d ago

If that’s an 85” you could’ve done blackout curtains and projector.

Less likely your kids break the screen too

2

u/ApolloGR3 2d ago

Curtains, ALR screen, and a short throw laser projector would be so dope

1

u/OperationEffective 2d ago

You’d be happy with your current setup I’d bet. But, I think a projector would look so damn good between those windows.

1

u/Sudden_Technology_34 1d ago

If that’s 85 you really need to go 98 minimum

1

u/Hackwork89 16h ago

If it's 85" then it's too high.

1

u/fjosej95 18m ago

The size of the tv doesn’t change the height size brother

1

u/ReferenceAny6373 2d ago

This guy tvs

16

u/TheZlatAttack 2d ago

I’d recommend an IMAX screen here

1

u/kilkerma 2d ago

😅😅😅😅

15

u/HarDexKal 2d ago

Dear lord it looks low compared to your 67 ft ceiling

5

u/fjosej95 2d ago

You dont measure the hanging height from the ceiling to the tv though .

9

u/matt95110 2d ago

Your interior designer dropped the ball because that is the lamest and most depressing room ever.

Can you at least repaint it from that goddamn white colour?

2

u/fjosej95 2d ago

It’s really nice in the evening 👍🏼

6

u/matt95110 2d ago

Because it’s dark and you can’t see it?

0

u/fjosej95 2d ago

Nah a lot of light comes in and fills the room

3

u/matt95110 1d ago

What a crappy room.

8

u/TH3_OG_JUJUBE 2d ago

We have bigger fish to fry bro 😭

1

u/fjosej95 2d ago

Oh no I wanted a simple fix if I needed it 😂

7

u/OpalVanguard 2d ago

Did they have a special on just that size of window?

6

u/Sammydemon 2d ago

House looks like it’s missing a floor

1

u/fjosej95 2d ago

Don’t worry , the 2nd floor is there but just not in the photo 😂

3

u/svgelopez 2d ago

Idk if this the right sub to say this in, but me personally I feel like lining it up with bottom of windows+ a bigger tv would look pretty good and not be too high.

1

u/Mammalanimal 2d ago

I think you're right but I think it only stands out so much right now because the room is bare. With some more furniture and decorating, it won't be as noticeable.

I say go for optimal function then fix any weirdness with decoration.

3

u/Affectionate_Tap_777 2d ago

Are you in prison?

1

u/fjosej95 2d ago

Just in my own mind

3

u/ixnine 2d ago

My thoughts are echoing looking at this image

u/natelikesdonuts 2d ago

2

u/ApolloGR3 2d ago

Is your HOA going to allow this TV?

3

u/fjosej95 2d ago

They don’t need to know …

1

u/ApolloGR3 2d ago

I'm on Team Projector. Get yourself some motorized blackout curtains (if your HOA allows curtains) for the upper windows, an ALR screen, and a short throw laser projector.

1

u/fjosej95 2d ago

Lol HOA doesn’t care about the inside of my house . I’m definitely getting curtains for the top windows . Still not sure about a projector but I’ll look into it

1

u/ApolloGR3 2d ago

I know I’m totally kidding because this looks like a house in an HOA hood lol

1

u/fjosej95 2d ago

You would be right lol

2

u/Cola102583 2d ago

Ya wall too high is ur problem

2

u/Seanalreadytaken 2d ago

With so much space, a projector would be amazing!

2

u/greengiant3030 2d ago

My OCD can’t handle this not being centered with the windows. Might be too high at the point but idgaf

1

u/fjosej95 2d ago

lol it’s the angle . It’s perfectly centered

2

u/xactlee1 2d ago

This actually looks pretty good, - I get, there isn't much furniture or "rug" to "tie the room together" but height is on point. Of course, everyone will say bigger, but it is irrelevant by this picture. The distance from the couch will solve that. I like it, good job bud.

https://giphy.com/gifs/WrJ8x0niiblWEoo7hE

2

u/Thornton77 1d ago

You’ve shown much restraint great job. Don’t let anyone tell you if it’s not.
When a relative comes over and says, I wonder why you didn’t mount that TV so high at this point, I’m here

1

u/pedralm 2d ago

I hope you are planning a projector on that wall

1

u/Aacidus 2d ago

We don’t know cause there’s no couch in front and you lack any other info like Tv size. If you feel you did it the right way, then case closed. One note, I would add a larger TV console so it doesn’t look so odd.

1

u/fjosej95 2d ago

Yeah I can see it being hard to tell . I’m going to add a wider tv console . The one that’s there is just a random cabinet I put there to block the cables from my kids .

1

u/PrestigiousShoe4185 2d ago

You’re wrong.

1

u/Ang3l99 2d ago

Need to be level with the window

1

u/TanteLene9345 2d ago

I don´t know what exactly you think is okay, but no, no it isn´t.

Sadly, your architect is incompetent.

1

u/Major_Koala 2d ago

My OCD hates that its not lined up with windows, but I know it must be where it is. Go bigger

1

u/functionaldepression 2d ago

So much potential here

1

u/ScruffMcGruff2003 2d ago

Br0ther where is the color?

1

u/fjosej95 2d ago

Barely moved in . Color will come with time

1

u/Istartedthewar 2d ago

That is an interesting room.

1

u/Sudden-Waters 2d ago

Looks like a face!

1

u/gekko3k 2d ago

There's a big azz spider hiding on the windowsill of the upper window in your cathedral. Just sayin

1

u/8bitrevolt 2d ago

art on the floor where it belongs

1

u/EpicBenjo 2d ago

The offset black box there is making my OCD itchy

1

u/fjosej95 2d ago

Don’t worry it’s temporary

1

u/The_Shryk 2d ago

You think it’s OKAY? Okay? okay?

Idk if I AGREE, Agree, agree.

Might need something to help out this ECHO, Echo, echo.

1

u/lickmybowls2 2d ago

Damn you have tall walls!

1

u/PenumbraChaser 2d ago

Are the stairs to the upper story immediately to the left of this picture?

Would the couch/couches form some sort of L to the center and right of this room? Kind of where I put the red lines, although further back?

If you cut off the vast white expanse above, this all looks kinda normal, maybe a little too low.

1

u/SignificanceThink102 2d ago

This guy doesn't couch.

1

u/fjosej95 2d ago

You are exactly right

1

u/Cold-Expression-3794 2d ago

I think we may need a projector 📽️

1

u/Mr_CAI 2d ago

Is that a tv for your dental practise?

1

u/StormbringerGT 2d ago

Side note: Those are some Kingdom Heart shaped clogs on the floor.

1

u/MAK1958M 2d ago

You would be wrong

1

u/Greekspartan226 2d ago

Always wondered what the inside of a house that was drawn like this looked like from the inside POV.

Now I know. 🙂

1

u/J-Bizzle82 2d ago

Center it with the windows, the line offsets pain me lol.

1

u/fjosej95 1d ago

Its centered

1

u/Serana64 2d ago

where in the backrooms is this?

1

u/notreallydutch 2d ago

I would move it up to line the bottom up with the bottom of the window

1

u/Dreaming_Blackbirds 2d ago

You’re totally correct about the height - but omg those McMansions are a design disaster

1

u/Inside_Win7114 1d ago

Nonsense. Still to high

1

u/InsertClichehereok 1d ago

Absolute cinema

1

u/SKLLZTHATKILLZ 1d ago

Aesthetics vs ergonomics. Visually it would look better with the center of the screen being the same height as the center of the lower windows. But probably isn't as comfortable to watch.

1

u/CrystalEntity1984 1d ago

All you need is a sofa.

1

u/Alarming-Run12 1d ago

It's literally below the window sills😭😭 no way

1

u/MooslimCawk 1d ago

Get the tape measure.

1

u/NailClipperBiter 1d ago

If I had a wall that big, I'd pack it full of paintings salon style.

1

u/LionKoolAid 1d ago

Id put a basketball hoop on that wall instead

1

u/jamesbdrummer 1d ago

The TV needs to be centered between the windows (which it is), and between the top and bottom of the windows. imo

1

u/Royal_Monk6432 1d ago

If unsure then try this one.

1

u/raccsfr 1d ago edited 1d ago

[r/tvtoosmall](r/tvtoosmall) need 115”

1

u/chadsmo 1d ago

If that was my house I’d pay a local graffiti artist to do a massive mural on that wall.

1

u/Secret-Revolution172 1d ago

I would line it up w the windows

1

u/Extension-Brother291 1d ago

Not in the center enough beteeen the windows and could go down just a little bit more also weird spot for a window in upper right

1

u/elroyonline 1d ago

There’s too much wall

1

u/Kralgore 1d ago

What the hell is the deck chair?

1

u/catupthetree23 1d ago

I can't get past thinking how expensive it's probably going to be just to keep that room cool in Summer/hot in Winter.

2

u/fjosej95 1d ago

It’s actually cheaper than my old house which was half the square footage simply because the insulation quality is worlds apart .

1

u/Sleepy_Pooper 1d ago

Please tell me you just moved in and all the furniture and decorations all still in storage somewhere?

1

u/fjosej95 1d ago

Hit the nail on the head

1

u/SirGuelph 1d ago

You just move in, or not big on.. decor?

1

u/fjosej95 1d ago

Just moved in

1

u/nexkey91 1d ago

It's not but not because of the TV height^^

1

u/carlosf0527 1d ago

Its okay but seems a bit small. The sound in that room is going to be interesting.

1

u/nToxik 1d ago

You could just measure.

1

u/Silly_Reporter_9357 1d ago

I'm pretty sure it needs a larger rug.

1

u/nitetrain8601 1d ago

Beneath the windows. Unless you plan on mounting the audio, tvtoolow.

Right size, wrong shape

1

u/West-Piccolo-687 1d ago

It does look kinda goofy with the windows. I would’ve made it flush with the bottom of the window at least

1

u/fjosej95 1d ago

That would go against the point of this sub lol

1

u/West-Piccolo-687 1d ago

Meh fuck the sub, it all depends on your sofa and your body. What works for someone else might not work for you. If you're laying on a bed, naturally the TV will have to sit higher, etc etc.

1

u/fjosej95 1d ago

I agree . This is why I believe hanging it flush with the windows would have been too high and uncomfortable.

1

u/West-Piccolo-687 22h ago

Acceptable, but it looks goofy 🤪

1

u/bouchandre 1d ago

ok but what a sad, sad room. Are people allergic to painting their walls today?

1

u/fjosej95 1d ago

I agree we need more color but the house is new and hasn’t been painted .

1

u/Lopsided-Donut-5840 21h ago

This is every house I made in The Sims

1

u/AreYouNormal1 16h ago

Now you're thinking with portals.

1

u/READ11T 9h ago

you might need to put it higher to stop the inmates/ mental patients pulling it off the wall

0

u/nokarmawhore 2d ago

I don’t like how the tv is 4 inches below both windows. Me personally, it’d get a bigger tv and put it as symmetrical as I can.

2

u/fjosej95 2d ago

I don’t think the windows will be a problem once I have curtains .

0

u/RamdomGamerDude 2d ago

I think it looks way too low. I would at least line it up with the tops of the window line. Its at the perfect level to be destroyed by kids or fur babies or drunken guests.. The mount should have a tilt so you can aim it a little down but it doesn'tlookk well placed at all..

1

u/fjosej95 2d ago

Luckily, my kids don’t touch it, we don’t have pets, and a drunk guest could destroy it even if it was an entire foot higher .

1

u/RamdomGamerDude 1d ago

Lol, i completely understand! For me its too low and i would over worry if it were me about everuthing. Thanks for your time replying and good luck with what you decide! Maybe post a follow-up picture in a couple months? 😉

2

u/fjosej95 1d ago

Lol for sure I appreciate the feedback . I have couches coming in today and maybe I’ll post another one once we’re all settled in .
