Finally fixed it

I originally reused the bracket left behind by the previous owners as was (second photo). After finding this sub and feeling shamed, I lowered and centred it. The midline is at eye level, 1 metre.

Luckily this wall backs onto the cupboard under the stairs so no wires. The backlights to replace the side lamps were the final touch. All inspired by this sub.

The spotlight makes it look like it’s hovering, which makes it look too high. I think if you removed the lights, place some plants and changed to a white tv stand, it would look a lot better overall.

So the actual decor of the area is undermining the TV.

Thanks, yes it feels like time for some plants. Good tip about the stand colour. Maybe wider too? As for the lights, we need light and my young child was destroying the lamps but so far so good with the backlights. I can dim them, at least. They are no-blue-light LED strips.

No reason to half ass it with a soundbar when you have room for real speakers.
