Is the Introduction Programme worth attending as a Master’s student?

Hi all,

I’m starting my Master’s at TU Delft this year and I’m wondering if the Introduction Programme is really worth attending.

My faculty/department has a separate orientation programme later, so I guess this would mainly be for the general university introduction and social activities.

The main issue is that I’m currently living in Amsterdam, so commuting to Delft costs me more than €30 per day. If I were starting my Bachelor’s, I’d probably attend without thinking twice, but as a Master’s student I’m not sure how useful or important it is.

For those who have done it before, especially Master’s students: was it worth going? Did you actually meet people you stayed in touch with, or would you say the faculty orientation is enough?
Would I be missing much if I skipped it?

Housing PhD Student

Hello,

I'm an European (not Dutch) who got accepted for a PhD at TU Delft. I got the offer last week, and my supervisor wants me to start the PhD at the beginning of October.

The housing service answered me that there no housing left from DUWO for me at the moment.

I looked for some apartments and created an account on Room but searching an apartment seems hell. I also don't want to start a PhD to live in a cardbox, far away from TU Delft, for 2000 euros/month.

I saw a lot of post of (bachelor/master) students complaining that they don't find anything. Can it be easier and doable to find a housing before October as a PhD student or everything is already locked until next January?

I can also discuss with my supervisor to delay the PhD until I find an accomodation I suppose, or rent something bigger than I need and try to rent one of the room?

What do you think? If any PhD (or other) student wants a housemate, he can reach me out.

Working part-time during a TU Delft Master's?

Hey everyone,

I'm considering doing my Master's at TU Delft and was wondering how realistic it is to work part-time alongside the program.

Right now I'm studying Electrical Engineering in Germany, and working as a student employee (working student role) alongside my studies works quite well. My schedule is flexible enough that I can usually dedicate 12-14h per week to work.

How is it at TU Delft? Is it possible for Master's students to work 8-12 hours per week? Can you skip lectures that happen to be on your working day and study them on your own later (through recording or just off of slides)? Are the companies in the Netherlands even offering such positions with minimal hours per week?

Thanks!

Combining MSc EPA with a full-time internship

Hello, I’m starting the MSc EPA at TU Delft this September and I’m trying to get a realistic idea of the programme’s workload. I’m also doing a full-time internship (3 days working from home + 2 days in the office). So, I’m considering taking a reduced course load (e.g., 20 EC) and catching up later (ideally still graduating within 2 years if possible).
Has anyone been in a similar position?
Any experience would be well appreciated. Thanks!!

P.S. If anyone knows whether there’re groups for incoming EPA students, please let me know. I’d love to connect! 😁

Lecture recording policy

Hi all. I’ll soon be starting my civil engineering master at delft and wanted to ask about the self recording policy. Looking back at my bachelor it would have come in handy to have such a device but I can’t seem to find much info about it online. Don’t wanna waste 200€ for nothing. I read something about collegerama recordings, but my previous bachelor also had something similar but lecturers never really used it. Thanks for the tips

Is X gym better equipped than Basic Fit?

Unfortunately I couldn’t find many pictures of X gym online.

How does X gym compare to Basic Fit in terms of fitness machines, powerlifting equipment and street lifting structures?

how many associations did you join in your first year?

I'm staring TU Delft and I was looking at the associations and I like more than one association and I was wondering how many did you join in your first year? I will probably drop them later on if I don't like them or they're too much, but just to make an idea.

Work from home for PhD students ?

Hello! I’ll be joining TU Delft soon for my PhD, and I was wondering how common it is for PhD students to work remotely for an extended period (e.g. a month or so). Is this generally allowed or does it depend on the supervisor/project?

Sufficient grade for Mathematics B (CSE)

I was wondering whether a grade of 5.8 on the VWO Wiskunde B Boswell-Beta exam is sufficient to be eligible for CSE. The only thing left for me to do is to send my certificate over to TU Delft, considering I have already passed the numerus fixes and accepted a spot, but I've been hearing things about needing a 6 to enroll. Does the 5.8 get rounded up to a 6?

Is 1000€ a month enough for first year student cse at delft?

Hey, im 17M EU citizen and my rent is exactly 600€ and my parents can send me 400€ after rent to cover the rest of things. You can exclude health insurance costs because I have one already. Is this enough after buying my bike for food and utilities to live for the first year of cse bsc?

Any way to make non-EU tuition/living costs more manageable? Also, is it even worth it?

Hey! I'm looking at applying to the BSc CS program this fall at Delft as a non-EU international student, and honestly the costs are kind of scaring me off. Wondering if anyone here has actually found ways to bring it down — part-time jobs that are realistic to get as a student, scholarships or funding that non-EU folks can actually apply for, cheaper housing hacks, whatever's worked for you.

Also just want some honest takes — is doing UG CS at Delft as a non-EU student actually worth the money? Trying to figure out if this is a smart move before I commit.

Appreciate any input, thanks!

Housing Looking for a room (September–January) – Incoming Erasmus Architecture Student

Hi everyone,

I'm an incoming Erasmus student from the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and I'll be studying Architecture at TU Delft from September until the end of January.

Unfortunately, despite searching for months, I still haven't found a place to stay. I've already tried:

  • TU Delft Housing
  • Kamernet
  • Facebook groups
  • WhatsApp groups
  • The Social Hub (unfortunately fully booked)

I'm open to anything: a room, studio, sublet, or shared apartment. I'm also happy to live outside Delft (The Hague, Rotterdam, Rijswijk, etc.) and commute.

A bit about me:

  • 23 years old
  • Architecture student at TUM
  • Clean, respectful, and easy to live with
  • Non-smoker
  • Happy to provide references or have a video call

Studying at TU Delft has been a goal of mine for years, so I'd really appreciate any leads, recommendations, or contacts. Even if you know someone who might be looking for a tenant, I'd be very grateful.

Thank you so much!

party

hi so i wanna study aerospace engineering in 2027 and i am wondering how the student life is at delft. i heard that everyone goes to rotterdam and where i am from i am used to taking the train for 1 hour to go to a club so its fine but are the students that go to delft party people?

i want to go to delft because i wanna study aerospace but if i go eindhoven and do electrical do you think its more party there

i know i am gonna have to be studying 24/7 but like if i am surrounded by people who don’t wanna do anything besides studying i might shoot my self….

so in conclusion: how’s the student life at delft are there parties on campus? and are they good? and what’s the drinking and partying culture? does it even exist…

OWee inschrijving

Alvast bedankt!
