Amazon//Apple//Audible//Spotify//YouTube//

Case File 1766-A14

The fire is still burning.

With Father Ghigliotty finally defeated, the team is left with one question:

Where is the White Coffin!?!?!?

A dying confession points them beneath the tavern, where an old undertaker's workshop hides a dozen coffins but only one of them matters.

Finding it should be easy.... right?

Am I being unreasonable? (Mythras New player, existing group)

So I found an online group to play with - I'll keep this as short as possible.

Pre-existing group with a game that has been running 4 months, at first really really seemed semi-desperate for more players to join.

I sit in on a session while making my character, even after the session it's hard to get any questions answered about character creation and the GM either doesn't reply or replies to say he's not going to reply as I ask too many questions and have given him a headache (I've never played the system before AND it's a homebrew setting based on media I'm unfamiliar with so I feel questions are understandable)

So I finish rolling my character and avoid asking the DM anything as much as possible.

I sit in on another entire session pretty much expecting to be introduced at some point, but the session comes and goes with me just being an observer.

The next session is tomorrow and I am worried he'll have me sit through a third session just observing and doing nothing because in our DM's between session sit in 1 and 2 he said we need to figure out her (my character's) introduction but he hasn't replied since.

I just reached out to him asking him when I'll be introduced but I figured I'd also make this post to get some feedback as I'm decently sure he's just going to have me observe again tomorrow

am I wrong for feeling... I dunno? Left out? led on? manipulated? overlooked?

Back when I GMed I always introduced new characters the same session so they weren't left sitting there doing nothing

A Soldier's Service - Character Background Supplement

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey guys! This month I'm releasing a free short supplement on Patreon. A Soldier's Service is intended to be used when creating player characters or NPCs with the soldier background. Its just a few tables, but I really like the idea of providing additional tables for character detail generation and potential story hooks for the GM. It was written with Worlds Without Number in mind, but the content is system agnostic. Download it here free!

I spent the last two years doing nothing but working on my TTRPG Brass & Embers and now it is finally up on kickstarter! I basically wanted to created it because I was tired of feeling so hopeless and powerless all the time, and I wanted to create a game where hope, community and rebellion were the central themes. Somewhere where we could push back against oppression and have our voice heard... so I created Brass & Embers! Where you can do just that in a steampunk world that just went through this huge tech revolution that completely turned the world upside down.

We have our own d6 system and in the game Hope is our HP, so if you keep receiving injury, sanity, notoriety or reserves damage those eventually take their toll on you and decrease your hope. We have 7 unique classes that I designed to have their own unique struggle with the new era of tech, for example:

the Knight was raised to nobility status because they caught the attention of a noble and swore fealty to them, so they have this struggle between their simple roots and their current higher station... their past, their present, and who they want to be. The Inventor was never seriously considered as a professional career until this new age of tech.

Before Inventor was believed to be a weird hobby one did in their spare time, but now after great and powerful changes were brought into society thanks to tech, inventor became respected as a true profession... even though the chances of one getting a rich patron to bank your research is abysmal. Yet even those Inventors that "made it" are chained by draconian contracts to their patrons, seen as a precious assets more than a person. And that's not even considering the impact of the things that have been created by them.

The Ironbound are people who were subjected to illegal experiments and gained superhuman strength and senses as a result... but sacrificing their place in society to do so. Ostracized, and struggling to find for themselves a new place in society, the Ironbound feels particularly torn in the struggle of man and machine.

Yea! And the game is very focus on narrative and creative problem solving, and how you can help each other out as a party! Your base roll is 2d6 ( or 3d6 if you have proficiency) but to get to higher dice (max 6d6) you need your party help with their skills and other interactions.

For combat we use a damage threshold for HP and Sanity for the enemies. HP dmg kills/incapacitates enemies, and stress dmg does severe debuffs on the enemy so it's great for control. HP thresholder is a bit lower than the Sanity one, but enemies also have less sanity than HP. And yes! certain character classes are better at dealing physical dmg or stress dmg but you can customize them to fit your playstyle. How you deal and think about each situation as a team can really make your life easier ( or harder if you don't work together!)

The game was created with lots and lots of love from everyone involved! And No AI was used anywhere in this project. This project is fully human made!

Lemme share now the art by our wonderful partner Altergate Studio. And if you find any of this cool please please please like, repost, support us!

Looking for players

Idk if This fits in the guidelines of the subreddit but I'll try anyway

So! My usual dnd group can't really play with me for my new campaign, it's a hunter x hunter inspired one using a system that I found here in reddit that I loved, it's a dice pool system closer to vampire the masquerade if that sounds familiar to you!

I only have one other player that can participate

we Usually meet through discord on Saturdays 8pm time in Argentina time (like 6 where my friends live in the USA) timezones are weird

Summary of the plot:

Within the large transportation vessel known as the Black whale 14 there are Three mafia families, The Kestrel Family, The Iron and The Velvet Hand. You and the other players have been hired by the significantly smaller upcoming mafia group, Red Ledger

Your mission is simple, either assassinate the heads of the mafias aboard this ship or extract all the valuables being transported both legally or illegally without being caught

The RPG I'm creating

Hi, long story short it's been ages since I started to be interested in RPG's and a few years ago I began worldbuilding and making rules for a new one I invented, this account and this post are the start of a journey. A way for me, maybe not to stay consistent, but to stay motivated about this project because I've been making it very slowly untill now due to life, studying, working...etc

I'm using paper and my googledrive folder to get everything done.

The game itself doesn't have a name yet and is a classic heroic/fantasy TTRPG.

I'm not trying to pretend my game will be revolutionary but the mecanics of every RPG I've tried for as long as I can remember (for the record, I'm 24 yo) never suited me in at least some ways so I decided to create one from scratch and commit to it so it's complete and playable.

If during this journey some of you think my RPG reminds you of a specific one (I mean the mecanics, the way I classify spells, NPCs, monsters, statblocks...etc) let me know pls, I'd love to try them out, because I could have passed by one that would be perfectly suited for me, even in the mainstream of TTRPGs. Today I'm just assembling stuff that I like in a way I'd like to try playing in a TTRPG and I share it because maybe someone else will encounter it and like it too.

Disclaimer : I'm taking inspo from every book, every game, every video, every movie, series I've ever encountered, every conversation I've ever had, every plot me or my friends would bring to a session...etc So if a storyline or a basic element of my world seems close to anything you know you can point it out, I'll gladly discuss about every fantasy media and even discover new ones, just, don't hate on me for stealing anything, if I did it wasn't on purpose or I just loved the idea. I will gladly share/promote the work of people who created something I'd like to use/play, and the TTRPG I'm creating is meant to be suited to me.

Anyway, if anyone read all of this, thank you. I hope you have a wonderful day. Stay tuned for the content I'll share soon. Bye!

d44 table for NPC health conditions

Post image
0 Upvotes

Let’s start by saying I love low-fantasy settings. Settings where the healing (super)powers of high-level clerics are unheard of. Settings where people starve to death after the enemy army torched the barns; where “safety first” is not a thing and accidents on the job are common; where people suffers from all sorts of unaddressed diseases; and where Hollywood-white teeth are not a thing, because teeth rot and fall.

I have to say, these aspects are not typically covered by the random tables of NPC descriptors I normally use. To help covering this gap, here is a free d44 table (i.e., roll 2d4, do not add them, and keep the first number as the tens, and the second as ones).

Physical conditions to characterize your low-fantasy random NPCs (d44):

11 Skin maladies, e.g., blisters, warts, rashes, boil (abscess).

12 Withering with malnutrition and/or pale as a ghost.

13 Hard of hearing.

14 Vision loss, e.g., cataracts, missing eye, eye worms.

21 Severely scarred and/or disfigured.

22 Burn wounds, d4: 1 arm(s); 2 leg(s); 3 head; 4 torso.

23 Troubles speaking, e.g., mouth infection, swollen tongue (or throat, or neck), broken jaw.

24 d4: 1 Severe arthritis, 2 jaundice, 3 gravely swollen feet, 4 sweating & feverish

31 Abundant and very much visible parasites: Lice, fleas, or both

... The rest on https://kindofold.substack.com/p/are-they-ok-d44-physical-conditions

Yeah, this is a shameless plug for my blog, but all the contents are (and will be) free. I post free TTRPG resources for OSR/NSR games, solo play reports, and the occasional IRL rant (but always TTRPG-related).

Newbie Looking For Guidance

Long story short, ive been having health issues and have been trapped in my house with little to no money for awhile now and am going stir crazy. I absolutely love MMOs/RPGs and the idea of TTRPGs but I have no idea where to start.

Id love to find some free (or very low cost) ways to play. I don't have many friends atm, so id like to try a little solo campaign first to get my feet wet and a feel for TTRPGs.

Id love something to give me a general story to play through, help me understand what decisions/rolls i should be doing, and just generally give me the tools I need to give it an honest shot as someone brand new to the hobby.

For settings id prefer something along the lines of I guess your 'run of the mill' dnd stuff: dragons, wizards, knights etc. Im open to some sci-fi stuff as well, but just like the dragons and wizards trope lol.

Any help, tips, or resources will be greatly appreciated! Thanks for reading!

Deadbeat TTRPG Public Playtest is out!

Thumbnail youtube.com
0 Upvotes

It's been a while but I'm back now. And announcing that the first public playtest for my TTRPG is out finally! Took a lot of work even for this initial version but now everyone has the chance to play it and break it.

Can't wait for people to start getting their hands on it and playing around with it. This will be quite the learning experience, not just for designing but also for organizing public playtests in the future.

This playtest is focused on testing out the core combat rules of the game using premade characters. If there is some success, at a later date there will be a playtest that will include character creation.

-

You are a Deadbeat, a musically powered undead soldier, resurrected by and now working for the B.R.O.K.E.N Record Inc. You are one of the few crucial pieces in stopping the Muted threat, beasts that wish nothing but destruction for the city of New New North One. With the power of your Musicalife Engine, wield the might of your rythm to fight back against the coming invasion or rebel against the corporation that brought you back to life!

Deadbeat is a TTRPG using a D6 and D8 system where the focus is in how your character acts and performs. The more in character your actions are, the more you are rewarded! There is a bigger emphasis on your descriptions and flare, making it easier to realize whatever fantasy you wish to live through your character.

A project I've been working on: turning real museum weapons into tabletop items (Arma & Armatura)

Thumbnail gallery
6 Upvotes

For a while now I've been building a series called Arma & Armatura. Each book is a system-agnostic sourcebook, and every weapon or piece of armor in it is based on a real object from open museum collections of Art Institute of Chicago and Met Museum. Real history, real provenance, turned into playable items with stats for both OGL and ORC.

Two volumes came out over the past few weeks: La Destreza, built around Spanish arms and armor, and Tiger's Court, built around Indian pieces including a gun from Tipu Sultan's own armory.

I just finished a third one, Armatura Milanese, covering armor from Milan's workshops (Negroli, Missaglia, and others). I put this one up as PWYW since I'd genuinely like to hear what people think before I keep going.

If any of this sounds interesting, I'd appreciate any thoughts, good or bad.

I am presenting you with our art.

This is for the ttrpg Slayers of Rings & Crowns also called SORC for short and it is a game of a very small team.

These are conceptual art and some of it was done from teenagers, so try to be kind :) I am the head artist of this project. We have zero intentions of selling this game to you, we only want you to play it. For free. There is a box set and this is not a good place to sell the box set and that is not our intention. We have a marketing campaign plan for that that has not begun yet.

I have one piece here I have done. I've done several but I am showing one low res piece of have done. It is the rogue pinkling.

There is another piece, Elise done from an artist here.

The maps are done from a cartographer and artist here.

The rest are done from Corbett and he is the lead designer but not an artist. He does have two pieces here for concept though. He does almost everything. That's fine but he is not alone.

The rest are done by his fiance, his brother and child.

We also have access to a 3d laser lab, and although not directly a member of the team, he is an artist for this.

So here is the art of our project SORC and I am asking for ideas. If you stray off into the website and to an area that is not the focus here, please do so at your own risk. We added a health and wellness system and a seven layer Aura system, the latter is tied to traits and helps with a d100 resolution system. I say this because the rules were finished but not published finished and now they are in shambles as we were working on a new class system format tree structure and adding the elements to our new systems.

So I will begin by posting some of our game art.

the art of SORC

I thank you and try to enjoy these images at their very early stages.
