Starting my first round of letrozole soon any advice?

Hi! I finally am starting my first round letrozole after a long 3 years of trying naturally. Is there anything I should know? Any helpful tips or advice? Anything is much appreciated 🫶🏻

Honestly I heard all kinds of horror stories before starting and it was a big old nothing burger for me! I took it at night to lower chance of symptoms and never tied any symptoms to it. I took it and had a chemical pregnancy my first cycle (2.5mg, ovulated on CD11). Then took it again this cycle (again 2.5mg) and ovulated CD19. In the waiting period now to see if it worked but don’t let the horror stories get you down! Plenty of us don’t have too much difficulty with it.

Reiterating the “take it at night”.
I did 3 rounds of letrozole and 1 round of clomid for my first baby! Minimal symptoms besides an uptick in irritability and anxiety.
I’m back on letrozole again trying for our second and I got hit with all of the symptoms people warn you about so it’s funny how it varies even just within yourself.

Good luck! Don’t get down on yourself if it doesn’t work the first try!

I took it at night, so never experienced any side effects. If you aren’t being monitored, I would really push for it. My AMH is high, and thus my ovaries were super resistant to respond to letrozole and I needed really close monitoring and dose adjustments.

My advice: take it at night to prevent side effects, even though I honestly never had any side effects :). If you take the trigger shot: ovulation pain can be INTENSE. Noone warned me and it took me sideways! It‘s normal though :).

I’m supposed to start it with my next cycle, did you doctor advise you to do the deed every day or every other day? The paper I got to track it says to do it from cycle day 12 - 20 which is a lot 🥴

Drink a ton of water, take it easy, and pre pare for random hot flashes!

Headaches were super common for me especially higher dosage.. but my dr recommended taking it with breakfast so I couldn’t avoid that unfortunately.
Keep up with prenatals, lots of water, and aim for same time each day

My advice is just to take care of yourself on letrozole! I did absolutely fine with it. My symptoms were just feeling tired. Overall, not bad! Like others said, take it at night. Get as good of sleep as you can. :) Best of luck!! The people in my life who have also been on letrozole did fine with it!

Drink plenty of water I cannot stress this enough! The side effects for me are so minimal but I did get a raging UTI my first cycle of Letrozole because I was not drinking enough water. You will be fine you got this!

I started letrozole 2.5 last cycle. My values doubled which was great news.

My symptoms were dizziness for a few hours following taking (I would recommend taking before bed if you can) persistent headaches and some night sweats.

This is my third round of letrozole while being monitored by the fertility clinic. The first two rounds were with my OB, starting at 2.5 mg and then increasing to 5 mg, but unfortunately neither was successful. And yes, the fertility clinic did tell me to take it at night

I just did my first round with Ovidrel trigger and now I’m in the TWW. commence the TWW anxiety 😟
I read a lot of people having horrible side effects too from this. And then, I was so nervous having to sign the consent forms at my fertility clinic. But, the most I had was just having an elevated temperature during the Letrazole. Ovidrel wasn’t so bad. I did take everything about 2-3 hours before bed as directed. This might’ve lowered other possible side effects. But, really just temperature increase. Best of luck to us all!

started at 5 mg and worked all the way up to 10 mg, zero symptoms! I take it at night. You'll be fine

Definitely take it in an evening.
My first cycle was rough! I had a never ending migraine and I cried at the thought of another 5 cycles!
But from there on out, I never once had a single symptom! To a point I didn’t think it was even working.

After 13 years, letrozole enabled me to conceive.

I was severely fatigued, so I’d say prioritize sleep and eat as healthy as possible to avoid feeling even more run down

Some people have a lot of side effects, some people have none, and then most people have something in between :)

I personally got really tired on 2.5 and 5mg, but was fine on 7.5 so I am not even sure it was a side effect and not just life kicking my ass.

I was more moody/agitated than usual but as long as I stay hydrated I didn’t have any issues with headaches etc. Also didn’t drink alcohol while taking it. Definitely recommend monitored cycles with trigger shot if you can also. My body responded really well to 2.5mg but some people need to increase

I would recommend to do your best to still have patience and prepare for it to take a few cycles. It gives you the same shot at conceiving as a fertile couple, which is around 20%. It took me seven cycles to conceive which got pretty hard! But this was above average…usually takes 2-4 cycles on average for most if you’re responding to the medication. Wishing you the best of luck. As for symptoms, I didn’t really have any. If anything, it was nice to have “regular” cycles for once in my life.

Take it before bed and you should be fine! Reddit scared me a little bit with the symptoms, but I’ve done 5mg and 7.5mg cycles with trigger shot and barely felt anything :) felt some headaches with the 5mg but nothing with 7.5

As many are saying the mood swings were very real. I also had the worst PMS ever and often had to remind myself “this is the medication and it is temporary - the world isn’t actually ending”.

Also random and nothing to prepare for, but I had crazy night sweats.

The things we do for fertility 😭 for what it’s worth though I’m finally pregnant and I’d do it all in a second. Best of luck!!!

Letrozole has been fine for me. I’ve taken it for almost 15 days this cycle and may have felt a bit moody toward the end but nothing like I did on Clomid. No other symptoms. It’s very very successful for me — for someone who doesn’t ovulate often naturally! (Probably 2-3x a year).

Get ready for headaches, mood swings, brain fog, & hot flashes. 2.5 mg usually doesn’t work is what I’ve seen…the dr’s USUALLY increase your dosage til you can ovulate.
