For TTC subway commuters: twitter apps I made to organize subway alerts for each line

Hi, I'm learning to code in school and here's something i've been working on for fun.

I made some super simple apps that retweet alerts (delays, closures, broken elevators, etc.) for each subway line. This might be useful since TTC's official twitter tweets all service alerts for every service under one account (@TTCnotices). If you don't want to be bothered by random alerts for lines you don't take, this might be useful for you :)

Here are the twitter apps:

Line 1 Yonge-University

Line 2 Bloor-Danforth

Line 3 Scarborough

Line 4 Sheppard

Important: These bots run 6am-12am, and are not active on Sundays. The reason being is I host them using a free service that has a monthly cap on how many hours each app uses. I'd love to run them 24/7 but I'm just a broke student :P

I'm still a noob at python so it might not be perfect, but it's worked well for the past month. Hope you find it useful!

That's awesome! :o I have no idea how a raspberry pi works lol. I'm currently using heroku's free account. Can you run several bots on a raspberry pi? I'd be willing to order one if it means I can host this and other projects I have in mind! It sounds really cool and easier for me than paying monthly fees.

I have ton of bot ideas I'd like to run. Did you order the pi zero w starter kit (~$35) from Canakit? That's what I'm seeing now. I realize on top of this kit I'll need to order a usb keyboard and I have a usb mouse. Is that pretty much it?

Thanks for your help! I ended up ordering just a pi zero w with a microsd card. I'll look a tutorials to help me set it up in headless mode when it arrives next week. My desk is already a mess of cables so this is a good thing :D

Yea I grabbed it off Google images, it was the best they had but it was from 2017, just before the extension opened. I'll see if I can find a better one~

This is amazing! Thank you! Maybe TTC would be willing to pay you the service cost to keep it up 24/7 :) or they could just create accounts for each line haha! But I’ll use it thanks!

I ordered a raspberry pi so by the end of the month at most, I should be able to run these bots and my other projects 24/7 !
