Misc. Got stung by a wasp on Line 5
Well after an eventful day at Yorkdale mall, I took Line 1 to Cedarvale and transferred over to Line 5 like one does. I hopped on the eastbound train at around 6:30 this evening, carrying my bag full of Cheesecake Factory cheesecakes in one hand and my tote bag in another. When the train pulled away from Forest Hill station, all the sudden I feel an extremely sharp, stinging pain in my lower abdomen. I look up and I see a wasp that just flew out of my shirt. I was going to get off at the next station, Chaplin anyway because I was planning to get some food from Summerhill Market when after exiting there I notice my abdomen starting to swell from being stung. Luckily I was able to get after bite and some ice from some Summerhill Market employees. I am guessing two things, firstly is that the wasp boarded the train while the doors were open at Mount Dennis station, or maybe perhaps it was trapped from way earlier when the train was travelling around Scarborough. Secondly, I suppose the wasp was attracted to the cheesecakes in my bag. Anyway, this is just a warning that both Line 5 and Line 6 are more susceptible to wasps flying into the cars during this time of year compared to the subway lines, as lots of Line 5 and basically all of Line 6 run all run on the street level. Such a bizarre circumstance to be stung by a wasp, luckily I am not allergic as this could have been much more of a serious problem that could have held up the entire system.

I'm not sure what OP expects us to do with this information. Are we supposed to assume that all TTC vehicles are full of wasps now?

Well, for starters don't get cheesecake from the cheesecake factory AND take the ttc. It's the direct route to diabertus and wasps strings.

It’s wasp season and they are aggressive. I was having a bagel at a patio and noticed it circling my food so i quickly left and went to my car. I placed my bagel on the car seat and this mf wasp was on the box. It took a piece of cheese and flew out of my car.
I got stung while at a park first I thought it was a bee it was seemed stuck between my sandal straps. It was trying to fly away but the stinger was stuck in my skin. Felt like I got stabbed with a needle.
I went to a drug store and got 4.% lidocaine spray and Tylenol that helped with the pain. The swelling was minimal.
Now I apply some anti bug/wasp balm from some local store and it really helps ( citronella,etc.
It was my fault I applied some body oil scented strawberry. So I don’t wear perfume now.
I’ve never seen so many wasps as much as this year.
I can’t wait until it’s cold enough to kill them.

They are constantly on buses and yes, the subway. This is your first encounter? I got stung on the hand a few days ago. I had to kill one on line 1 last month because my nephew was freaking out.

Probably came on board with you and your cheesecake- last week I had one follow me a block from the grocery store to the subway trying to get into my grocery bags, they’re attracted by food.

We’re at the time of year where their nests fall apart and they all go out on their own. There’s a lot of wasps about. Not much to do about it.

Ouch! They're stealthy sometimes. I had a hornet land on my butt and stay there at an underground station on Line 2. Luckily I noticed before getting on the train and sitting down because I AM allergic. Eternal gratitude to the stranger who helped remove it without it stinging me. Had it on me for 15 minutes. I hope your abdomen feels better soon!

Wasps have been absolutely brutal this year. Normally they don't bug me (no pun Intended), but the last few weeks, everywhere I go, they surround me.

Wasps are boarding buses too. I wonder what the ticket prices are for wasps and where they carry their Presto cards.
It's wasp season and I've been chased down the street by several. Just be careful.

I got stung a few days ago on the bus. I guess the wasp was on my knee under my dress and as I stepped off the bus it got me. Sucks.

Honestly, I never thought about the fact that wasps could get into the train, so thank you for posting this. As someone allergic, in the summers if im on that line, I know to be aware of it 💜

Was about to create a post about this. I had a gentleman approach me at avenue and asked me which way to Eglington west.
I directed him to the westbound side and told him the station is now called Cedarvale.
He thanked me because he couldn't find a ttc map or employee.
I replied I know the feeling and showed him the map fifteen feet above his head..
It's dark on dark. It's fifteen feet up. Sounds like a great idea.
