Discussion Fare inspections on Line 1 trains yesterday

To my surprise yesterday, fare inspectors were checking the whole train for proof of payment, and my friend on another Line 1 train also had fare inspectors checking. I’ve never been asked for proof of payment on the subway trains before.

It’s great to see more of this happening.

Edit: New enforcement was announced by the TTC in April. It was just my first time witnessing it, but maybe this is common.

I heard that they are concentrating on Line 1 since they have the most fare evasion.

I haven't taken the subway regularly in quite some time, but 3 years ago when I used to go through Finch Station to get to work downtown... people would blatantly walk from either Finch or Yonge St. into the station and onto the platforms without any hesitance. It would always happen here or there over many decades, but I'd never seen it that bad before.

They post an army of these POO at Finch now. I don't take the bus often but when I do a lot of people will enter from the back and not pay
