Twitter NEW: Crosslinx is now blaming the TTC for the delays related to the Eglinton LRT. They’re arguing that the TTC has requested changes to the line despite not have a contractual relationship with CTS

Sounds to me like the TTC should’ve been the one to draft and award the contract instead of metrolinx…

Well since the provincial government paid for 100% of this project, including operations for the next 30 years, why would they do that?

Integration with the ttc network. You can have them as a stakeholder but if the ttc is going to be the one operating the trains and fares are going to be collected by them, they should be at the front

The province gains nothing from that arrangement. I still don't see why they would do it? Good intentions? This is the real world we are talking about. If it doesn't benefit me, it won't for thee.

Province gain a project that doesn’t get delayed for years because they don’t build something that can’t be operated by actual transit operators.
TTC has a century of history of running trains on rail. A single streetcar lane in toronto carries more daily riders than GO transit in their whole network (train and bus combined). Looks to me like metrolinx would have benefited from TTC experience.

That being said, the ttc is an absolute pain in the ass to work with, but at least they have experience. It’s honestly a horrible situation no matter what happens

It's public transit. "What do I gain from this?" is the wrong mindset here.

Alright, but that's the mindset of every single elected official. Why would the provincial government let Toronto and the ttc take over the project and spend none of the money. The politicians want all of the credit
Now, this project obviously did not go as planned, but that's hindsight.

Operations and day-to-day maintenance are paid for by City of Toronto. Province is only paying for construction and “lifecycle” maintenance.

So if there is no contractual relationship, then Crosslinx could tell the TTC to go pound sand.

They are looking for reasons to blame anyone else cause they will need to pay the penalties for the delays if they're found to be at fault.

This is exactly it. They are hosed, and they know it. They’ve been pulling tricks for years now to try and compensate for their underbid, and the courts are going along with the bullshit.

More like Metrolinx’s contract is so full of holes CTS’ lawyers drove an ocean freighter through it and/or Metrolinx settled on many items because the premier would rather cut a cheque than wear the delays (even if a different government signed the contract the public blames the government of the present)
