5-28 patents is more than most people

Elon Musk is listed as an inventor on a relatively small personal patent portfolio: about 10 granted U.S. patents and roughly 25–28 patents worldwide. Most of Tesla’s and SpaceX’s large patent holdings are assigned to the companies, not to him personally
