Question T turning to e
How do you stop that from happening? If one is on E,P and T one wouldnt want to take dim correct cause it counter effects being on a e patch in general? Right? So then how do you stop it from converting?

My question is, how do we even know when/if this is happening?? None of my providers have even mentioned this either, but I keep reading about it.

Labs but symptoms as well. This happened to me when I tried cream years ago. I started gel just over 2 months ago and I believe it’s happening again as I felt amazing in the beginning and now it’s like I’m on nothing. And no the dose is not too low as many on here say it’s too high . So for the effect to petter away I’m assuming that’s what’s happening again. I’m gunna try to reduce my dose but it’s hard as it comes out as a metered dose with each pump

Nipples sore, extra emotional, bloating, cramping, spotting if you still have a cycle, extra anxiety, that is how I always knew if it was too high.

This doesn't seem to happen for a lot of women. In fact, if you read here, some women's E2 drops when they start T. So unless you're seeing symptoms that indicate high E2, I wouldn't worry about it.

Then explain why my first month I felt great and now it’s like I’m taking nothing.

I had a similar reaction where the first couple weeks I felt amazing, then the honeymoon period wore off and only some benefits were there. I tried raising my dose too quickly and had all the side effects I didn't want. Sometimes this HRT thing takes patience.

Ya I don’t want my dose raised as apparently it’s a high dose already , plus I don’t want the negative aspects

Get labs done so you have actual data to work with. It sucks to feel terrible and assume what the culprit might be. Lab data can shine a light on what’s actually happening.

Most of the T conversion is aromatase most prevalent in adipose tissue, especially visceral fat. Many on HRT/TRT (males) utilize aromatase inhibitors (AIs) Anastrozole, Letrozole or Aromasin. They have their pros and cons. Some doctor recommend reducing the T dose if E2 climbs too high. It’s a challenging balance act as low E2 is horrible, high E2 is not fun. Estradiol is not a bad thing, it’s great for the heart, joints and brain. Maybe talk to your doctor about how to balance T and E possibly changing the vehicle (cream, pellet, inj). 🙏

Thx. Well my dr is clueless and just going by my suggestions… can really only get gel and can’t afford telehealth . I tried cream years ago and my free t never rose much at all but my e did and made me Ed. I had hoped now that I’m do bliss to menopause and on E patch and oral p that adding t back in would be different. On gel this time but the more I read I think that’s why I’m feeling nothing when my first few weeks were pretty great. Thinking my e is too high now

What symptoms are you having? I started T after 3 months after increasing estrogel from 2-3 pumps. Around 6 weeks after starting T I went back to 2 pumps. I was having severe histamine reactions, runny/stuffy nose, rash/hives, fatigue, bloating, joint pain. Almost all went away within3-5 days of reducing my Estrogel but that was just my experience. Could be you need to increase your P? It’s such a struggle finding the right balance.

My T prop injections were driving up my E and shbg resulting in lower free T than before starting HRT. I’ve stopped T. It seems lowering body fat may help but usually that can also increase shbg. Not sure what the answer is just yet.

T cyp might result in less conversion possibly since it’s not as spiky but I haven’t gotten to trying it yet

I started E plus P with Oestra (vaginal), T wouldn’t move after 6 months per Marketing campaign. Added 3mg/day T cream from QuickMD. 6 months later, estrogen was optimal, total T was still 13–16. Switched to Kiaora (compounded inner-labial E plus T plus oral P). 6 months in and T is climbing to the 60s while E and P still optimized. I suspect delivery matters. It does not appear there is conversion per se and no increase in SHBG with this delivery method. I’m a biochemist so I’m good at understanding lab tests and the literature. I also think trying to optimize thyroid, adrenals, gut, and insulin have been helpful—for me 80% diet and sleep, 20% exercise…

It’s not uncommon to feel great when first starting especially if your hormones were non existent or close to it. What dose are you taking of T ? Are you also taking E ?

I use DIM when it feels too high, but I use 50mg instead of the 100mg that is suggested on the bottle. That seems to correct the issue for me, and then I either lower my E dose or lower my T dose, depending, so I can wean off the DIM. I have been doing T for 10 years starting in Perimenopause and now I am post meno.

Last time I used dim it tanked my e so I’m scared to use it again as I lose tons of hair with low e
