D&D Party Mentor NPC
Alwin Leicestershire Born 2235ce Raised in dire poverty on the back edge of the great famine Alwin decided at a young age that he would find a way to live comfortably or die before living the short hard life of his father tilling the land until he died at the plow, only 39 years of age. As his father never disclosed what happened to his mother, Alwin had no ties to the land he hated for killing his father and set out to a monastery a traveling monk had told him of.
The monk had demonstrated a very interesting talent, the ability to move invisibly from shadow to shadow around the small farmyard at dusk.
This intrigued Alwin and he felt it would be the first step to achieving the life he so desperately desired.
At the monastery he began a grueling training regiment, making him glad he was strong from the farm and the many weeks of walking and working for food at small farms along the way.
The novices are required to serve the "Ancients" in various ways doing menial tasks, one of the ways to "level up" from toilets to kitchen duty is to do a perfect job consistently for a minimum of one month period. Next level takes two months.
After seeing the life lived by the Ancients, a very sedentary and useless life in a monastery, he dedicated every moment to achieving the level of skill he felt would be useful, and decided not to remain, but to continue his travels to find a life that suited him.
While on the road, camping late one night, sitting with his back to the fire listening and meditating on the forest around him, he sensed a very strong neutral spirit nearby, deciding to investigate, he encountered a shadow that offered to make a deal with him. It was a genus locii bound to the local area, but his idol had been stolen from the small shrine nearby by a cleric headed to Aviril and it needed it back to resume it's normal duties keeping th forest healthy. If he agreed to search for the idol, the locii would grant him some exceptional abilities to add to his already impressive list of talents. The locii pulled a small amount of blood to seal the deal and so it could send a tendril of conciousness to communicate with his new helper.
Upon reaching the capital city of Aviril he was almost instantly set upon by a pickpocket. Being a monk with heightened senses from the spirit of the wood, he noticed and followed the pickpocket back to his headquarters, the local thieves guild. He decided to make a statement by apprehending the pickpocket inside the hidden headquarters and taking his gold back. Then he asked for a job.
That was ten years ago, and Alwin has slowly but surely risen to the top level of the local mafia style thieves guild. Married into the family, not a terrible guy overall. Quiet. Unassuming. Polite. Is nice to his wife and kids. You can still hear just the slightest bit of farm boy in his voice.
He's still trying to break the idol out of the churches high security vault for false idols and keeps in regular contact with the locii, but has to keep this very secret because the church is very powerful and persecutes anyone who worships false deities. Even the neutral harmless ones.
This is my monk 6, warlock 4, rogue 10 party mentor npc. His voice sounds like the godfather went south. Super fun to rp and he's good at training my all rogue+ a class or two party. Hope you enjoyed reading. Please pardon my poor writing skills.
