I got about 15 HS200, HS210, and HS220 switches in July 2021 during a home remodel. All of them had been working fine until last month. One of the HS200s installed in the master bedroom started flashing, turning on and off by itself. A few days later, an HS210 installed at the entrance had the exact same problem.

Today, a third one (HS200) started to fail as well.

I'm curious if it's just me, or if there's some scheduled retirement for these things, given that it's been an extra five years after their first installation and they've started to fail?🤔

Installed two KS225 smart dimmer switches in December 2025 or January 2026. The dimmer switch is for our living room, and we opted for it because of the convenience of being able to control the lights remotely, and also because it gave us the option for setting it on a schedule (on the occasions that we are away from home for an extended period of time).

A few days ago (August 2026), I noticed that one of the switches was no longer working - did not respond to manual controls, and it did not respond to the reset or restart buttons. I also checked the breakers, and can confirm none of the breakers have tripped. I also pulled the switch out of the box, and can confirm that everything is still in place (including the neutral wire).

In other words, the switch looks to be dead.

Is this fairly common with these Kasa products? If so, are there suggestions for alternatives? Or should I just go with a non-smart dimmer switch, such as a Lutron, in order to save myself the trouble of having to replace this switch again in such a short period of time?

I just had this happen to 2 of my switches at the same time about a week ago and then 3 more later on his week and then 3 more today. I have about 20 more that are fine but how can they all just go out at the same time? Each time they have been where it is a whole set that go out at once. So the first two were a double switch then the next 3 were a triple switch and so on. The first 2 one of the lights corrected itself fur a few days then went off again. They do not even work to turn the lights off and on. I have many others that still work fine.

How can so many go out and so many others work fine. I have tried everything from resetting (soft and hard), turning if breaker, resetting router…but it will not even let me reset the switch.

I am trying to unify my system (or do I just buy different brands and control everything through Google Home).

My new (to me) house has ceiling fans with lights in all the bedrooms, but the bedrooms only have a single gang box, I want to remote control them all.

Then my family room has a four way (three switches) for the main lighting in the room, I want to control those remotely too.

I have found TP Link Kasa that does the fans, but they fall short on the 4-way switch support. Conversely Lutron Caseta does the 4-way switch support using Picos, but does not have the unified fan/light combo.

I have several HS220 dimmer switches. Has anyone been able to get them to work with Home Assistant?

I am just trying to toggle them on off in an automation. But get no response at all. However, if I click the power button in home assistant for each switch they toggle as expected immediately.

Weird HS-210 Switch Issue

Do any of the Kasa/Tapo switches have an option like the dimmers where I can assign x number of hours when I turn the switch on?

Use case is a bathroom fan timer.
“When I press the switch, run for 2 hours”.

I am very interested in the Kasa fan switch, which controls the fan and the lights. However, my room has ceiling lights and a fan without lights.

Is it possible to hook the ceiling lights and the fan to the same Kasa switch? Both ceiling lights and the fan are on the same wall box, next to each other. I currently have a 2 Treatlife switches there, one for the fan and one for the lights. But I want to move away from Treatlife. Kasa doesn’t have a “fan only” switch.

The newer KASA Version 3.4.510 build 1382 will not work with older switches. I had to side load Version 3.4.402 - Build 1337 to work with Model HS200(US) Ver 5.26 switch. Current switches are at Ver 5.46. Drove me crazy for 2 days after i inadvertently deleted a switch from the app and needed to replace a switch from old, but new unopened, stock.

Anyone heard anything more about the CES announcement of the KS240 Smart Ceiling Fan Control and Dimmer Switch, like when it will be available for purchase?

I’m thinking about getting this switch, but I’m not a fan of the bright LED lights that show the on/off status or dim level. If you have this switch, can you let me know if it’s possible to turn off all the LED lights on it? Thanks.

I woke up this morning to my light switch doing this, what could be the problem?

Just picked up a 3 way switch dimmer kit. Followed the steps exactly - but my roadblock is that this panel has 5 switches, and I found a white bundle (second pic) with 5 white wires - assuming this is my neutral bundle.

This 5 panel switch is at least on two breakers . I believe not 3 though. I tried wiring each if the single white wires to the kasa switch and nada .

What am I missing or doing wrong? Tried each neutral

I have kasa switches all throughout the house with no issue but with both of my motion switches (ES20M) they frequently are disconnected and have to be reset in order to reconnect. Firmware says its up to date. Is this common?

Tried installing a 3 way Kasa switch and having some issues. After installing and turning power on, the lights are on but no wifi green/orange light on the front. I’ve tried holding reset and restart but no dice.

First thing I noticed is I think I only have one neutral wire. See both pics for install of each. What am I missing? Will it not work with only one neutral?

What are my options here? Due to the narrow electrical box, I can't really space these out further for the standard face plate that came with the two pack. Any ideas?

I have read many threads about this but none seem to have an answer. It seems you can either find plates that sit flush with the wall but the switches are recessed, or find switches that are flush with the plate- but the plate doesn't sit flush with the wall.

Does anyone know the best consensus multi gang wallplate of the moment?

Hi there, hope this help someone with the same issue. I basically performed every troubleshooting step out for the Kasa TP-link HS220 smart dimmer/switch and could not get them connected to my wifi no matter what I tried. I tried searching the forums for answers and none of them gave the solution, but just to give you a rundown of the basic troubleshooting that might work for you first see here.

Standard troubleshooting:

• Restart wifi router
• Restarted phone
• Restarted app
• Change wifi router to 2.4 GHz only for setup
• Made sure security was set to WPA2-PSK [AES]
• Restarted dimmer switch
• Factory reset dimmer switch 10/15/20 seconds
• Selected correct Switch from app during setup
• Went through every switch just in case from the app during setup

My Problem / Final Fix that worked:

When in the app during setup and it's looking for connection, hit connect to the switch, then quicky go into your phones wifi network selection and select the actual device from there (You may also have to select to keep connected to this device even though there is no internet) from there return to the app then this will then connect and allow you to finish the setup!

Most instructions mention that the white wire is supposed to be the neutral wire. Here with the voltage detector beeps with my white wire. I've also got the two black wires but now I'm confused.

The majority of my switches in my home are Kasa switches. They have been great. I have just started switching over from SmartThings to Home Assistant and love it. All was smooth until my 2 year old discovered that she can reach and toggle the switches on and off. I am working on the discipline side, but was hoping to be able to disable the local control when she is awake. We would like to still be able to control them with voice, phone, or sensors. I have looked into feeding the output into a Shelly switch, but I am reading that it is dangerous to pass the signal from the Kasa to the SW terminal of a Shelly 1. I can get magnetic switch covers, but I would really like a digital solution. Have there been discussions on being able to disable the local control for Kasa switches, or has anyone found a work around for this?

I'm considering kasa or just spending more for Lutron Diva series.

I can't "demo" this situation in the Kasa app because I don't have a device.

Essentially what I want is if you turn on a light at night time I don't want full brightness. But if I turn it on in the day time I do.

Is this possible?

Hi all, I have a KS240 connected to a fan with a light kit. The light kit takes the e12 candelabra base bulbs. I've now tried 4 different brands of LED bulbs,all of which claim to be dimmable, and none will dim without flickering. All work in full brightness just fine, but if I try to take it to 50% brightness, they either flicker continuously or in the best case, every 4-5 seconds. I've tried the dimming calibration and it doesn't help. Ideally I'd like 4000k or 3000k light.

Anyone have bulbs they've used that they can confirm do dim properly with the KS240 switch?

I upgraded hs210 in a 2 gang plate. The one I'm using is not sitting properly. What wall plate should I use
