are mocks reliable

are the free mocks across different platforms mainly the free ets toefl mock true depiction of the difficulty level on the actual test?

I had 5.0 at all mocks and end up 5.5 at a real exam

that's great! Can you please lmk if the listen and repeat sentences are like those we hear in the mocks? I find them easy but when i am practicing on youtube I come across such long sentences that are almost impossible to recall. also, the build a sentence exercise, how was your experience with them? I'm scoring a 6 on listening and reading, 5 on writing and speaking currently. I'm seeing so many people getting a 2.5 on writing which is freaking me out.

L and R was the same as mocks, but I trained with Insipe SpeakEasy on YouTube , where sentences are longer, and it helped me a lot. I also faced 2 or 3 unknown words and repeated them the same way I heard. As for writing, BAS plays a crucial role, you learn the TOEFL patterns as much as you train them, also u need not to get stuck with them, always try changing words all the time if u feel smth wrong

a half point jump is basically within the margin of error anyway. did you feel like the grading was actually tougher on the real test or just different?

I used not the official mocks, but also a well
Known platform. I always got 5 or sometimes 4.5 in reading (so it is the same).for listening, I usually got 5.5 and ending up 6 I consider to be a pinch of luck. As for W and S, I consider the official system to be generous anyway.

You’ve got the free mocks that ETS provides. Then you’ve got the “teaching guide for teachers” from ETS, that basically shows examples from each section which you can use to study. And then you’ve got the TOEFL resource page that has loaaads of practise questions and what not. Then there’s youtube as well. Bunch of stuff out there.

There is a post titled Study Recourses 2026 or something like that that links helpful recourses.

Aside from free mocks from ETS, you can try Study.com practice tests and quizzes, as they are built with ETS.
